Character Bio - Palpatine served as the last Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and the first Emperor of the Galactic Empire. A Dark Lord of the Sith, in the Order of the Sith Lords, his entire life was the culmination of a thousand-year plan to overthrow the Republic and the Jedi Order from within. His mastery of the Dark Side of the Force was impressive. He was capable of masking his true nature from the many powerful Jedi he interacted with as Chancellor. Equally impressive was his ability to reach out across the galaxy and manipulate events from his seat of power in Coruscant. While trained in the use of a lightsaber, he preferred to use the Dark Side of the Force to directly assault his foes with powerful Force Lightning. As Emperor, Palpatine wielded absolute control over the galaxy and virtually everyone who lived within it. During his tenure, he built one of the most powerful military forces the galaxy had ever seen and ruled unopposed for nearly two decades. Palpatine progressively abandoned his facade of being an enlightened leader and began to rule through terror, symbolized by the Death Star, a superweapon that could annihilate entire planets. -Rulings and Clarifications-
Force Push
Once per turn, before or after moving or attacking, you may choose a small or medium object or opponents figure within 2 clear sight spaces to Force Push. Choose up to 2 empty same level or lower spaces in a straight line from the chosen object or figure and move that object or figure onto either of the chosen spaces. Figures affected by Force Push may not be moved closer to this figure. Figures moved by Force Push never take any leaving engagement attacks but will receive any falling damage that may apply. Figures with a Force Leap or Force Push symbol may not be moved onto a molten lava space.

DARK SIDE MANIPULATIONS
Start the game with two Dark Side Markers on this card. When any figure within clear sight of Emperor Palpatine rolls the 20-sided die, you may add or subtract 1 from the roll. You may also remove any number of Dark Side Markers from this card to add or subtract an additional 1 for each Dark Side Marker removed.

ADVANCED FORCE LIGHTNING SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 3. Attack 4 + Special.
Choose a figure to attack. You may also choose a figure adjacent to the targeted figure to be affected by this special attack. Roll attack dice once for all affected figures. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. After using this special attack, you may attack one additional time with this special attack. If Emperor Palpatine targets the same figure for both attacks, you may add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled for the second attack. Emperor Palpatine may only use this special attack once per round.

POWER OF THE DARK SIDE
When defending against a normal or special attack, Emperor Palpatine always adds one automatic shield to whatever is rolled. Place one Dark Side Marker on this card for each excess shield. A maximum of two Dark Side Markers may be on this card at any time.

Love this guy! d20 manipulation is really powerful and really appropriate for him, but the use of Markers seems like it keeps things balanced. And I love how well his Force Lightning captures the "schwoom...SWCHOOOM!" effect wonderfully.

I am curious, though, but his Life. I suppose he gets dispatched pretty easily in the end, but for such a long-lasting master of the Dark Side, only coming in at 4 Life (and 170 points consequentially) feels a bit low.

Thanks Johnny! The IRG certainly help keep him alive and had to be taken into account. Also we didn't want him to be a front line fighter, that is Vader & Maul's role, he is more of a behind the scenes guy who can throw around a bit of lightning as needed. So you need to play him like that and not rush forward into battle if you want to get the most out of his 170 points.

I like the design a lot.

I'm a big fan of not overdoing it on life and power-level even for iconic characters. They're big-wigs in their world, but in the wider world of Heroscape they should be in line with pre-existing characters. :2cents: Well done on doing that with this design.

Yeah, that's definitely sensible - even if he'd be justified with like 8 Life, that'd encourage pretty unthematic play. The auto-shield sort reflects the unnatural survivability from that angle as well - the name is certainly open-ended enough. Without "the power of the Dark Side," he's just an old dude.

You can still run him in with his guard and do some damage, but he works better pulling the strings in the background until he is forced out to battle. You gotta love a little theme.:)

Cards aren't showing in the OP.
They are now, though I had to refresh the page for both of them to show up. I'm beginning to wonder if there is an issue with Photobucket. I've seen this several times on our pages. One or both card images will not show up, but after refreshing they do.

The HoSS Jedi Council has become aware of a disturbance in the force. An oversight was made when we released the Emperor Palpatine card concerning an aspect of greater HoSS synergy between units. Many long discussions were had when designing this card concerning what class both this card and earlier prequel versions of Palpatine should have. Somewhere in those discussions we lost sight of a key component. It was always our desire to have Emperor Palpatine influence Luke's Anger Within power, as it was based in large part on the final Luke vs. Vader showdown in the Emperors throne room, however it did not work out that way so a change has been made. The class of this card has been changed from Emperor to Sith Lord to better accommodate current and future thematically appropriate synergy. We apologize to those who have already printed out this card. The updated cards have been added to both this thread and the X-2 program.

I was going to print out the corrected version but the .pdf link is gone. Is that something that can be re-added? Thanks!

Shoot. Forgot about the PDF. I'll try to get that updated this evening.

Was the corrected .pdf ever added? I'm looking again and I don't see the link on the front page. Thanks!
Sorry! Thanks for the nudge. The revised PDFs have been uploaded. One is just the Palpatine card with backs and the other is an update to the Throne Room Small Expansion release including the Imperial Royal Guards.

Hmm...he's not showing up in X-2 either. I'll have to look into that later.

I've put the images on my Imgur account and reposted to the OP.
@Porkins the links that were in the OP pointed to the locations where the X-2 images are stored, so not sure what's going on.

Yes, that's correct. They were linked to your photobucket account, but I changed them to the images on our heroscapers webspace (which also feeds the X-2 app) in anticipation of me fixing that problem too.

Edit: that's fixed. I somehow named the Emperor Palpatine images .png.png files, so X-2 couldn't find them.
