Very nice hero !
Tell me if I make a mistake : when Ulfrid attacked a figure once, and took a wound, he must attack again, and then... If he missed again to kill this figure, he must attack again, until he (or the figure) dies.

Yep. Really lame if you aren't rolling any skulls... :D

Yes, this guys picks a foe and is determined to take down that foe regardless of the cost and he could fall at the same time as his target.

Absolutely... Incorrect. He doesn't take a wound if he kills his opponent. :p

Shame, ZB... :p

awesomeunleashed has it right. Someone will be standing over someone else's body by the time it's all over.

~Aldin, referencing his old sig... hmmm may be time to change back now that the CoN is over

ETA changed!

See this is what happens when you are involved in every process...because I remember the debate at one point about this...but it was resolved :duh:

Sorry :footinmouth:

...unless Ulfrid was attacking Isamu, or someone else who has the power to escape adjacency with Ulfrid.

(That's why the "if possible" is in there.)

Ulfrid can take a beating from attacks, but doesn't is determined when he's attacking. :p

In my opinion Ulfrid is the worst dwarf hero. That in no way means he is bad though. He fits very nicely into a 500 pt dwarf army with 4 Axegrinders and Mogrimm. He is also a good special attacker in a 4th Mass build. Raelin is a wonderful partner to Ulfrid, considering she practically gives him +4 defense dice. On average he would get 3.333 shields while he is in Raelin's aura. Which does make him hard to kill. A fun 400 pt army I can think of would be Ulfrid, Sentinels x2, and Raelin, talk about hard to kill. Grim Determination is a cool effect that could either kill him or kill Q9 depending on how the dice gods feal that day. In a dwarf build I would much rather spend 10/20 more pts if I could afford it to get Migol/Morgrimm.

When I played with Ulfrid he seemed to be a high variance unit. this morning he got his but kicked when playing against the Incendiborgs and only getting 3 wounds on Raelin and in one of my playtests with him he gave Charos a lot of wounds and his axegrinders then ate charos up. I really like the unit and it is nice to see some Jandar love in fanscape.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but if you use Grim Determination, you keep attacking until someone dies, be it Ulfrid or his target?

Correct; it's kill or be killed. Or just not attack and bank on your shields of valor.

Well now, THAT'S no fun.

Ulfrid goes out and will take on all comers regardless of the cost. If he uses Grim determination; its a mano-to-mano fight to the death. He's actually a lot of fun, especially if you want to take down a Opponent's Hero...imagine getting Cyprien stuck in a Grim Determination fight

As far as rebasing goes, does the C3V suggest simply gluing him, as is, onto a scape base, or do they suggest removing him from his Reaper base first?

I removed mine from the reaper base first.
I too removed the Reaper base before putting Ulfrid on a 'Scape base. I think the result looks much better this way than the alternative, but that's just my opinion.

Yes, and it actually was pretty easy to remove.

Ulfrid Hornwrangler is one of the most fun custom units I've used. Each roll with Grim Determination makes both me and my opponents hold our breaths because of the stakes involved. One side or the other shouts happily at the results of each roll. That's one mark of a solidly fun unit.

If you can pick the right target he's absolutely devastating. For me, his grim determination has worked best against lower-life type heroes (e.g., Agent Carr). Yesterday he took Racheim with only 3 wounds to show for it. I've also had fun pairing him with Theracus in the past.
