Character Bio - The son of an environmentalist and an industrial researcher, Brin Londo was conflicted since birth.

Raised by his mother in the jungles of Zuun, Londo was taken by his father after his mother's death. Experimenting on his son with strength enhancing rays, the treatments caused Londo great pain and psychic trauma.

Deceived and further alienated by his father's android assistant after his death, Londo wandered the galaxy believing that he himself was an android.

Suspected by the Legion for crimes he did not commit, Londo cleared his name and became a member as Timber Wolf.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Shouldn't Timber Wolf have Stealth Leap as well? :reapershrug:

I know you want to keep the number of powers this faction has as a whole down, and I think we can do that, but I thought I remember Timber Wolf jumping and perching a lot.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Really, I don't remember him like that. I remember him pouncing a lot but not so much with the perching. And I don't remember him using much stealthy behaviour at all. But it has been decades since I read any Legionnaire comics & I had to rely on Wiki to spark most of my memories for each of these.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Couldn't comment on stealth leap or not - I don't know these characters at all. But the OP seems pretty cool and nice and slick. :) I'd guestimate around 240ish as is. Stealth Leap would solve one of his major weaknesses (ground pounder) and probably take him up to around 260. He's definitely weaker than Sabretooth overall, though, which is my preference anyway.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

How is he a ground pounder when he has flying?

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

I completely glazed over that! Well, he definitely doesn't need Stealth Leap if he has Flying ... and he's probably looking at 260/270.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

I'm not familiar with the Legion of SH at all, but don't they all have flight rings? Booster stole a Legion flight ring from a museum, I thought it was a Legion of SH ring.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

I believe you're correct about the Flight Rings.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

He is. Looks great to me. I think this is ready for ERB or an Initial Playtest. Great design!

Nothing wrong with this design! Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing some more legionnaires.

Disclaimer: I don't know anything about this character from the comics. I am basing all comments off of DC Comic Database and Wiki entries.

From what I've read, I get the move of 6 and attack of 5 for sure, but don't get the defense of 6. I understand he has all the increased speed and agility etc. but Beast is about as agile as you can get (he can play ping pong while standing on one hand and using a foot to use the paddle) and he only has a defense of 5. From what limited knowledge I have of TW, I'd say Beast would be a good comparison for this.

I like Savage Fury, it's really cool 8) Of course he would take leaving engagement attacks if he moved away from an opponent's figure to attack another one, but that's thematic and cool. Of course he could simply stay put and keep attacking the one he's engaged with too.

For Healing Factor - Not knowing how he's represented in the comics, I can only go off of what I can dig up from research. His healing isn't even mentioned on DC Comic Database as one of his powers, though it's mentioned that "he's able to heal quickly from injuries" on Wiki and "He also has a slight healing factor that allows him to recover from non lethal damage at an accelerated rate." from Comicvine entry.

So I don't know how iconic his healing is, as it's mentioned in Marvel Comic Database that both Beast and Powerman (Luke Cage) have advanced healing abilities, and that's just two that I looked up. I've seen advanced healing abilities for a ton of characters with superpowers but they weren't iconic like Wolverine or Deadpool and thus not given to C3G units. So that's just something you guys will have to decide as like I said, I can only go off of what I find in research as I've never seen the character in the comics to know how much his healing is represented there.

Anyway, aside from those minor comments, he looks great and should be pretty fun to play.

First, nice to see you getting started on these guys! Can´t wait to play the LEGION! Interesting dogmatic approach to design, the 2 powers thing... And Legionaire as the class should give a solid foundation for group specific synergies, COOL!

A flying Wolvie/Sabretooth type... SCARY!
I assume he can use his Flying power, when moving the 2 spaces with SAVAGE FURY, right?
Maybe it would be a good idea to have the last part of that power go something like this:
Timber Wolf may continue moving 2 spaces and attacking until he does not roll 16 or higher.

To prevent confusion on how much you move.

Cheers
Jesper

P.s Instead of having the flying power, how about all legionaires having a Flying Ring equpment glyph instead? Only one glyph would need to be designed for all legionaires, but then again, you would have to have a couple of handfulls of them to play... Just an idea...

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Nay on the flight ring glyphs. I like how we can sum that little theme up with a simple symbol and call it a day.

:word: I wouldn't want to waste my time printing all those out anyways.

I agree with Hahma's take on the 6 defense & would fine to drop that down 5.

What does everybody think about the healing?

I originally only wanted it to work at the end of the round to make it less of a boost but I was fine to change to what was already used in the C3G. I'm pretty sure I remember him healing in the cartoon also (which was the most recent time I have seen the legion - but I still couldn't say how close that was to the comics).

Cheers

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Totally down with the drop of defense to 5 - good call by Hahma.
Totally agree that specific reference to Flight Rings in any form is unneeded.
If we keep a healing power on him, I'd prefer it be Healing Factor. The mechanics for Gamma Healing on She-Hulk would work well for him it sounds, but that card's released and I don't want two identical powers with different names.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Well if nobody has anything else I think this is about ready for an initial.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Cool. :) Not sure I'll get to this before August, though, personally. I've got Booster to wrap up this week, then I'm going to work on Vehicle rules. As of Friday I'll have to halt testing until about early August (8th? 10th?) due to a bunch of traveling.

HEALING FACTOR

We can't have the figure roll the die (especially since the player rolled it earlier in the power text), and we definitely can't have the player attacking.
'with Savage Fury' added so that the subsequent move limit of 2 is clear.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Thanx SirG, OP updated.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

Healing Factor is good for him, IMO, as he was created to be Wolverine Lite.

Little tidbit of info you may not know, Storm and Nightcrawler were originally designed to be Legionnaires, but were not introduced before Dave Cockrum left DC to work for Marvel.

Re: C3G Timber Wolf - Design Phase

In a previous conversation, A3n and I discussed the fact that Healing Factor had already been used on Creeper after I had reminded him of its use. Well I just remembered that Deathsroke also has it, and I thought I would remind us all in case we forgot or thought it was interesting. :) That is all though.
