Cool powers Tickle. But what if someone wants to design Arkon? I've thought about it at times, though not high on the list, he seemed interesting with his energy bolts.

And I thought you were getting stressed out with workload, but keep pumping the designs out. Not too stressed I guess. :p

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

If you have the Thunderer mini I'd be happy to use it on the card, but this was suggested by Spidey a long time ago and he seemed to imply that no one would want to design Arkon.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I suppose we could do something subtle to "customize" this figure for the card and then use the non-customized one for Arkon ....

I love the way these guys work with Anti-Monitor and the Sinestro Coprs both.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

Well with all the drafts I have already, I don't know if I'd ever get to him. So it's not a big deal either way. I guess I was just surprised that we'd take Arkon off the list of potential available designs, which would also take Thundra off as well since they are kind of "together" .

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

With height and Insurgent/Destroyer bonus they'd be rolling 4 dice and getting at least 2 skulls 93.75% of the time, at least 4 skulls almost 70% of the time, at least 6 skulls over 30% of the time, and 8 skulls over 6% of the time.

EACH

for 90 points.

Might be a little powerful for the points.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I don't mind raising the points to fit this design. That's really just a placeholder at this point.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

Do you think the design is too powerful or just that my initial cost is too low?

Also on the issue of Arkon, I see no reason we couldn't use the same figure for Arkon just painting the figure slightly. I don't want people to have to mod a figure for a common squad, I'd rather the mod be for the Unique Hero.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I am using the Arkon figures too, and I think that a simple pink wash on their skin with a paint job on their shields would be an easy trick. Taking characters off the table for designs just seems wrong to me.

The class is not only too on the nose because of their name, it is also a mystery what exactly it is. I think Weaponers would be a nice class. These guys did create the Yellow Battery and Rings for Sinestro.

Other than needing Flying, I think the design is solid. They didn't always fly though, so that is debatable, but a lot of them did. Your call, I guess, but I think to help them keep up with Sinestro and his Corps, giving them flying keeps them on the drafting table a bit more.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

While repainting one Unique Hero makes more logistical sense, it is also nonsensical for an obvious reason. I bet someone in the public has the actual thunderer figure.

I can get behind Weaponers as a class here. I don't like them flying though and although these guys aren't that iconic, I don't think that is iconic for them.

Also if someone in the public has the Thunderer mini I would love to use that here, I do not so I was simply planning on using the figure I had not unlike Griffin recently did with Phoenix.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I am totally fine with us getting creative on the mini choices. I just don't want to see a non-well known design dictate that another non-well known Unique Hero can't be designed. That was my only bugaboo.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

Cool, wanna do a repaint on this figure and snap some pictures for us then? He's 10x cheaper than the Thunderer mini last time I checked.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I'm all about a simple repaint here just for the cards (I'll use the non-repainted version happy for actual gameplay). I was actually hoping to eventually use the Thunderer mini itself for a unique hero villain named "Weaponer" that is actually a Thunderer himself and has fought both Sinestro and the GL Corps.

Oh, and I agree on no flying.

I was actually just thinking I'd use the Thunderer mini for him. I'd love to see that guy. Great minds think alike! 8)

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I'll repaint it, Tickle.

Great idea, Bats.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I'm definitely up for brainstorming some time, Tickle! I really don't have anything for him yet other than a desire to see him made. :)

I'm in the same boat. I'll try and work up something and we can talk about it.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

Ok so SP is updated with Weaponers as their class. Is everyone OK with me just testing these guys out when I get to them after Forge and letting their points fall where they may?

I'll be sending this to ERB shortly.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

Sure! :) Though I'm hoping they're not too cheap, thematically speaking.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I'm thinking they'll fall in the 100ish range which is 50 points per figure. Pretty expensive for a squad.

I only ask because SirG seemed concerned with my initial cost estimate and I'd rather make any edits, before I test here.

Re: The Book of Thunderers of Qward - Design

I wouldn't mind seeing a defense of 5. These guys are crisis level squaddies, so I don't mind them being on the tough side.
