Character Bio - A Clone created from the DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor, Superboy has always tried his best to be a hero. A cocky and headstrong attitude on his exterior hides many insecurities on the inside, one major one being the knowledge that he doesn't age normally and will most likely never become an adult. He becomes friends with Robin and Impulse and inadvertently founds the team Young Justice with them. There he meets Wonder Girl, with the two of them developing feelings for one another, and Superboy is also there for Arrowette during her darkest hour. He proves himself to be a loyal friend, and a true hero.

NAME = SUPERBOY
SECRET IDENTITY = KON-EL

SPECIES = METAHUMAN
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = TITAN
PERSONALITY = RECKLESS

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 5

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = 210

KRYPTONIAN DNA
Superboy has the species of Kryptonian in addition to the species listed on this card. When Superboy rolls defense dice against a normal attack from a figure that is not a Kryptonian, if at least one shield is rolled, all blanks rolled count as extra shields.

TACTILE TELEKINETIC TOUCH
Before moving on Superboy's turn, you may choose an opponent's figure adjacent to Superboy and move that figure 1 space. Figures moved with Tactile Telekinetic Touch never take leaving engagement attacks.

SUPER SHOW-OFF
Once per round when attacking with Superboy's normal attack, you may add one die for each revealed Order Marker on a Titan or Sidekick card you control. If you do, and Superboy does not inflict any wounds, roll an unblockable attack die against Superboy.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

He's obviously supposed to mesh with YJ. Tactile Telekinesis is an obvious pair, and he gives a good heft to the faction that doesn't really exist outside of maybe Lobo at this point. He'll be throwing 9 attack dice when Paired with Wonder Girl on OM3. We could restrict his bonus to only work on other cards, so he's not great by himself. Another option is to only have the boost work when no other Titans have more than 1 revealed OM, which pushes him farther away from Nightwing. I'm not too worried either way at this point.

Mini pics are from LV's Superboy, so whoever had those can get points.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

Last sentence of Super Show Off might need some tweaking, since he doesn't actually attack *with* Super Show Off (he's attacking with his normal attack). Maybe "after adding dice with Super Show Off"?

Looks good overall! :up:

Seems like Wonder Girl + Robin for 9 attack or Nightwing for 8 attack is the way to go.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

Is Super Shower-Off supposed to count just OMs on other Titans/Sidekicks? Or the ones on his card too?

Currently it counts himself, but that's an easy change I suggested above if we'd prefer.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

I'm fine with it. Gives us an easy dial to turn. Just wanted to make sure it was the intent :up:

I hope he comes in higher not because I want to dial him in but I'm trying to get him to 210 so the original 7 YJ equal 1000

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

I think that'd be easily obtainable if we try.

There's still Slobo, Red Tornado, and Ray who could even things out too.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

I've got him at about 215-230 on the calculator. :2cents:

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

Cool, just about there anyway. Honestly maybe I'll drop his life by one. It's a more inexperienced and cocky Superboy, so that might be cool to drop him to 210 if needed.

I see them as "extended cast" for bigger builds.

EDIT: Not just because I don't like Lobo (the character not the card) because I like Red Tornado.

Red Tornado and Ray sure (my Ray writeup doesn't have any soft synergies with YJ, since he's definitely a "catch-all" design). But Lobo is really great with YJ. He's fun, you should try. :)

I will. Just not as often as I'd play the "base" team. Well until Red Tornado comes around and rounds the team out for bigger games. :)

With the two 90 pointers it makes it easy to drop in Lil'Lobo occasionally at 180

Empress and Lobo have a mini combo where Lobo can steal Empress's turn, but the OM stays on her card, activating her Vodoun ability. Just so you know. :)

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

One fewer life would put him at 195-210 for me.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

I'm wondering if this wouldn't be a better way to go. It definitely makes the power a bit worse, but pushing him into YJ a bit more since you want to keep your OMs spread out.

Once per round when attacking with Superboy's normal attack, you may add one die for each Titan or Sidekick Army Card you control with a revealed Order Marker on it. If you added dice to Superboy's attack and he did not inflict any wounds on an enemy figure, roll one unblockable attack die against Superboy.

Re: The Book of Superboy (Young Justice) ~Breathing

Personally I’d say, OG Conner is so good with the Nightwing crew that I don’t think you need to worry to much about him being pulled there too much.

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Superboy

Army Test
Summary: Well, couldn’t get much closer than that. Young Justice SHOULD have lost, but Wonder Girl led the team. Superboy didn’t do much, his huge attack ended up a bit lackluster, then Hellboy and Vampi teamed up to take him out before he could do much more damage. He has a huge target on his head.
Map: Custom
Units: Superboy (210), Wonder Girl, Robin, Secret, Impulse, Lobo (1000)

Vs.

Hellboy (II), Vampirella, Captain America, Ragdoll (1000)

Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
Summary: Melee heavy armies struggle against YJ, but the Fighters struggled to hit many attack rolls regardless. Superboy himself is scary, but still hasn’t done a WHOLE lot, so the wins aren’t squarely on him aside from being a damage sink.
Map: Custom
Units: Superboy, Wonder Girl, Robin, Impulse, Arrowette (790)

Vs

Luke Cage, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Iron Fist

Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
Summary: Epic game! Really enjoyed seeing the teams going at each other. YJ won out, but it was darned close. Raven really helps keep the Titans alive. Superboy brought some much needed firepower to the team, but he still fell quickly.
Map: Custom
Units: Superboy, Wonder Girl, Robin, Impulse, Lobo, Arrowette, Empress, Secret (1180)

Vs

Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Superboy (Titans), Changeling, Wonder Girl (Donna) (1170)

Spoiler Alert!

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
I want to keep him at 210 for army building purposes. He’s on the high end of 210 I think, but I’m not sure he NEEDS to go up yet. If so, I’ll drop his life or defense by one. He doesn’t do anything too crazy outside of one single big attack which has the potential to wound himself.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
He’s fun. In a normal Titans build I’ll still totally take the first Superboy, but this guy meshes so well with YJ that he’s a shoe-in. He’s the only member of that team that can drop that many attack dice all at once. I’m happy. Telekinesis didn’t come up in my games much, just because of positioning though.
