Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

NAME = SUPER-APE
SECRET IDENTITY = PEOTOR

SPECIES = SIMIAN
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = MINION
PERSONALITY = LOYAL

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 4

LIFE = 4

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 5
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = 170

MAGNETIC TOSS 9
After moving and instead of attacking, you may choose one small or medium figure within 3 clear sight spaces of this Super-Ape. Roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 9 or higher, toss the chosen figure by placing it on any empty space within 3 spaces of its original placement. Tossed figures do not take any leaving engagement attacks.

GRAVITATIONAL GRASP 12
Any time an opponent would begin the movement of this Super-Ape or a figure within 4 clear sight spaces of this Super-Ape, you may first roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 12 or higher, the figure may not be moved and may not attack with a normal attack this turn.

SUPER STRENGTH

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Reused powers & rounded stats, I don't see any issues here. :up:

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Why does Peotr have Super Strength? Is that because of his powers? Because he appears to be an orangutan, so if it's representing Simian strength I'd think he wouldn't quite rate.

Throwing with no damage and no falling damage is a little boring... Especially since Peotr has a decently beefy attack. I assume however that Red Ghost is going to have some sort of bonding power, so it could be useful if there's another turn on the OM.

How about dropping his attack and increasing his range to show magnetic attacking ability like Magneto?

One more thing: these are trained (presumably to overcome their more animalistic instincts) apes from the Russian space program who are exposed to cosmic rays that increase their intelligence. Is Feral the best choice for personality?

He does have SS because of his powers.

Red Ghost will let you take a turn with all 3 Super-Apes so he will be useful, but since it doesn't have any damage, I'd be willing to make it a before attacking power.

Are you thinking like Range 5, Attack 4? Cause I could get behind that, I wouldn't want his Attack lower than 4 though.

I'm open on new personality suggestions. I'm not married to Feral here. I could also see Loyal here.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

I like R5, A4.

I have no suggestions of personality, but loyal (or Obedient?) works for me.

I don't mind tossing instead of attacking if you're going for a team player mechanic. It gives him some strategic uses. Maybe drop the d20 roll more, since there's no (direct) damage involved?

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Alright, these guys are definitely gonna need to work together and it would be cool to load up on Shapeshift Markers on Igor then Toss him into position for a beefed up attack since his movement will be severely crippled.

I'll put suggested changes up for the Range, Attack and Personality.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Looks good with the changes. If Red Ghost is taking a turn with all three of these guys at once, though, do we maybe want to depower them a tad?

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

That's why I kept the D20 rolls on this design and Mikhlo a bit on the higher side. I could see the 3 Apes and Red Ghost coming in around 700-800 points total. They often give the Fantastic 4 a decent fight but usually lose.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Don't know this Ape either, but I take it he has some kind of magnetic powers and they seem well represented with the write-up :D

Magnetic and gravitational. Really, the bios I put up in the OP for these guys are about the extent of the wiki knowledge on them. They are rather obscure characters, but classic Fantastic 4 foes.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Cool. This is next on my list. :)

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Thanks Bats. Just get to it when you can, I'm in no rush here.

Looking these over I think HeroClix actually misnamed these two figures. The one sitting down looks like an orangutan which is what Peotor is but it is named Mikhlo, and Miklho is a gorilla which the Peoter's figure looks more like. (Note the difference in the spelling too. Clix calls Peotor: Peoter and Miklho: Mikhlo.)

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

The standing one definitely does look the most like a gorilla.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

I'm switching the figures around even though Clix calls them by different names.

Super-Ape (Peotor)

Momma! Momma! Mah bray-yuh is fuh-ried! Dat's raht! Mah pohr widdle brayn iz badderd and fried!

:D Didn't get much sleep last night due to staying up a bit later to take care of another ERB report. Then I couldn't sleep, so I went to play a turn in Mage Knight the Board Game to conquer the first city. I do love this game, but it does deep fry the brain (in a good way). When I get home for my lunch break, I'll collect my Fame points and level up. Then tonight, I'll face the final night round, where I have one more city to conquer.

So, what's up? Oh! Sorry, we've got a design for the ol' ERB!

I checked Gravitational Grasp 12 against Graviton's wording, and it checks out ok. I compared Magnetic Toss 9 with Magneto's Magnetic Throw, and I understand why you opted for a slight change in title (toss vs. throw). Only suggestion I have is to change "If you roll 9 or higher, throw" to "If you roll 9 or higher, toss" for consistency with the rest of the text.

I had already deleted a previous ERB, but it was still in my computer's Trash bin. That design also had the name Super-Ape. So your emphasis on saying this Super-Ape instead of just Super-Ape is perfect.

This is definitely going to be an interesting set of designs.

Seems like you put all your creativity into last night's ERB. It was a good one. :lol:

Good call on the "throw" vs "toss" I'll make that edit. They should be a fun team. I'll be sending you the third one and Red Ghost too so you'll probably want to save these designs. Don't worry they are all being released together so no need to fear spoilers. :D

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

Good catch on the names Tickle. You may want to send a PM to Spidey just as a follow up though.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Peotor): Design

There's one more Super-Ape then Red Ghost who will bond with them. Look forward to that. I'll be sending you both of those designs.

Magnaviton Lite!

Both of these powers are pretty tried n true, really can't go wrong. With super strength, this guy should be great on a map with a lot of DO's around. Also the one-two of Magnetic Throw and Grav Grasp should allow him to be a sort of melee shield, throwing opponents' figures aside and then preventing them from advancing.

Other stats are good, but I'm guessing this faction will have some sort of bonding character(s) to tie them together. Hope to see it!

I have included a bio for your convenience. This bio is pretty much the sum of all wiki knowledge on these guys.

Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 170-175
- Give a brief overview. Peotor doesn’t belong in Punisher or Jean Grey’s class one-on-one
Spoiler Alert!

Squad Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 150?
- Give a brief overview. Peotor rolled poorly on GG and his attacks and got owned by numbers. His throw wasn’t used because he couldn’t pass up attacks.
Map: Custom
Units: Peotor vs. Arkham Inmates x3 (180)
Spoiler Alert!

Squad Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 160-170
- Give a brief overview. This match felt really balanced, but the Hand Ninja are probably worth more like 160 or so without bonding.
Map: Custom
Units: Peotor vs. Hand Ninja x2 (170)
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 180
- Give a brief overview. Peotor, rolling well for Gravitational Grasp, was a great ranged complement to the Gorilla City Warriors here and really helped them dominate.
Map: Custom
Units: Peotor (180), Gorilla City Warriors x2 (250), Gorilla-Man (160) (590) vs. Captain America (240), Wasp (50), Hawkeye (150), Iron Man Mark II (150) (590)
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 160?
- Give a brief overview. Peotor rolled poorly on the D20 and the Fan Four took advantage. He had a fairly low impact overall here.
