The Book of Super-Ape (Igor)

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

Thanks, Griff! I wish I could help clean out that public playtesting overload, but I'm off playtesting for a few weeks. :-(

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

I mean to do this today, but my kids' great grandma is in town. I should be able to tomorrow though.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

Shapeshift is an excellent power. I think a lot of people are going to dig the simplicity.

I agree. And it's reuse potential is extraordinary, add a power of two reliant on how many markers a figure has on the card to spice the design up a bit and you've got a really fun design.

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (Super-Ape) Igor.
- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
Pass.

- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
Pass.

- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
Pass.

- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak.
Pass. I’m always up for more monkeys, I’m glad to have been an influence on the faction as a whole.

- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
Pass.

- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
Pass.

- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.
Pass.

- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting.
Pass. At first, I saw absolutely no potential in him, but after playing Igor twice, I see that I would draft him in any army.

- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable.
Pass. Shapeshifting makes Igor a playable unit. Every round is different. I get that Vixen feel, which is great.

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game.
Pass.

Army Test
- Does it pass
, Yes or No? Yes
- What should be the unit's point value? 90-100.
- Give a brief overview. The word “Super” doesn’t really belong in Igor’s title. Igor has incredible flexibility with his stats, and gets those Simian benefits, but he’s way too easy to kill unless he’s in his melee mode, in which he moves slower than a snail. His 5 range has no use with that 1 attack die, even on height. Igor just isn’t strong enough to compete with the other 130 pointers out there.
Map: Madripoor Marina.
Units: Igor, Solovar, Gorilla Grodd, and 3x Gorilla City Warriors (950 ***990*** NOTE: It seems I miscalculated, however the game seemed to go down fairly regardless) vs. Luke Cage, Wolverine, Shang-Chi, Speedball, and Dagger (955).
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
- Does it pass
, Yes or No? Yes
- What should be the unit's point value? 130.
- Give a brief overview. After the first game, I didn’t expect Igor to do anything against the Agents, especially since they wiped the Skrulls out with ease. However, I was proven completely wrong, as Igor earned almost 3x his points worth this game. I have finally come to understand the power that comes with Igor’s flexibility, so 130 seems right for him.
Map: Madripoor Marina.
Units: Igor, Skrull Warriors x4, and Fire Ants (580) vs. Nick Fury, Banshee, and SHIELD Agents x2 (580).

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

I don't think I will be able to test until Monday. :( Sorry. The fam keeps on draining the **** out of me.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

No rush. I may run a test myself tonight. If I do, I'll have it done by Monday so you'll know yours isn't needed here. I'm not sure I'll be able to the test though so just keep an eye out here for me. :)

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

Griffin, I was unable to find time to run a playtest during my short time home, so please continue forward with your test or let the public know you aren't doing it and let someone else sign up. Thanks.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

:duh: THIS was the one I was planning on testing today. :duh:

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

Yep. Your test sheet is already linked to the OP. Let me know if you aren't interested in doing the tests now and I'll get Johnny or someone else from the public to do it.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

Oh, I have the day to plug away at testing, and I plan on doing so.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

1 Army Test left to go.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

All done.

Pre-yea for Final Editing at 130 or 140.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Playtesting

I think I like him at 130 after reading all the tests together so I'm gonna keep him there.

I propose we move to Final Editing at 130 points.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): VOTE for Final Editing!

:bump: for everyone but Griffin.

Also taking suggestions for a shapeshift marker since I couldn't find anything I liked.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): VOTE for Final Editing!

How about just an Orangutan face?

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): VOTE for Final Editing!

Well first off he's not an Orangutan, he's a baboon. Secondly, this power is definitely gonna be reused on a future design that I helped Bats work on so it needs to be generic.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): VOTE for Final Editing!

Oops. I think I used the Orangutan figure to play test. Not that it really matters.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): VOTE for Final Editing!

Yea
:bump: for everyone but Griffin.

Maybe a blob shape with a hand forming out of it.

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): VOTE for Final Editing!

How about something from here or something like it:

Re: The Book of Super-Ape (Igor): Final Editing

This is now in Final Editing. I'll work on the markers today.
