Character Bio - Doreen Green, daughter of Dorian and Maureen Green, was born with a bushy tail and an undying love for squirrelkind. This mutation (noting that she is medically and legally distinct from a mutant) granted her more than an unhealthy fixation on a suburban pest, however; she has all the equivalent powers of a squirrel! And she's not afraid to use them. Through the years, this young hero has allied herself with no less than three Avengers teams, earned rivalries and respect from countless heroes, and battled the likes of Doom, Thanos, and Galactus on their own turf. She's unfatiguable, unfathomable, unfashionable, and, well... unbeatable!

A few notes:

First power is based on the fact she's kind of goofy and pops up all over the place. Each class is a reference to a different group she's been a part of. Agent = AIM Avengers, Avenger = New Avengers, Crime Fighter = Danielle Cage's Babysitter (also she fights crime), Loser = Great Lakes Avengers, Soldier = USAvengers. If anyone has other suggestions to toss in there, I'm really flexible on these!

Second power is her, uhh, calling squirrels to gather them together and unleash a swarm that can take out the likes of Doom and Galactus. We always specify the number of Markers needed in C3G, so I went with an absolutely ridiculous one - conceivably, yes, you can roll 1000 attack dice in one turn. Good luck getting there. If this power feels too weak, I'd be fine either giving her a passive way to accrue Squirrels (maybe one per round?) or upping the strength of the attacks (2 dice per squirrel?).

I think you want Reject instead of Loser, and I'd be inclined to drop 'Avenger', since there's nothing mechanical there (and Crime Fighter covers being a New Avenger anyway). Dig the design otherwise, though.

Might be slightly cleaner to bust up the Squirrel Swarm and implement the attack part as an SA?

What kind of synergy does she get from all those classes? I can only think of Bucky bonding for Soldier, Luke cage bonding for Crime Fighter, and Nick Fury & Dum Dum Doogan Agent synergy. Are the Avenger & Loser classes just placeholders for future synergy that does not exist yet?

(There's also one unit On Deck that provides significant Crime Fighter synergy)

Reject will have some stuff in the future, for sure. I don't think Avenger ever will, though.

The fact that I still have Loser here shows how old this design is. :lol: Loser should be Reject, correct, which will be the synergy for the Great Lakes Avengers. Avenger has no synergy (and probably never will). I like it as a theme nod, and it's a supported class per the original Vision, but it could get confusing with Avengers Markers so cutting it might be smart.

Splitting the Swarm and the marker gathering might be smart. I tortured the wording a lot - it was originally an SA - trying to get it to read coherently. Four powers is rough but they'd be pretty simple, so it'd probably be cleaner overall.

Hilarious card! :) Not Your Typical Superhero feels a little strange to me, but if she turns up everywhere, she turns up everywhere, and it'll be nice to be able to take her in a variety of different armies.
I really, really love Squirrel Swarm - silly, fun, and really quite strategic, it allows her to be an actual threat to the titans she memetically beats like Doom and Thanos without actually being in their range herself or being ridiculously flukey - you have to take the time to charge her up in order bury Darkseid under an endless swarm of squirrels (man, I love this game... :)). She'll be an interesting one to play, that's for sure!
My first instinct in army building would be to put her in a S.H.I.E.L.D. build - they can often struggle to crack through the real powerhouses (assuming your opponent doesn't let you get in a position for Killbox), so she'll be a really valuable addition, plus S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents could probably run enough interferance to buy her time to gather her fury friends. Looks like fun! :)

Crime Fighter: Luke Cage, Kick-Ass, [redacted].
Agent: Nick Fury, Dum Dum Dugan, Amanda Waller, Cecil Steadman.

99 might be a fun number. You could have squirrel markers 1-9 and then squirrel markers designating 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90.

Alternatively, (assuming you definitely want to go for the goofy high limit) you could have nine single-squirrel markers and nine 10-squirrel markers. It would mean more markers piled on the card at a time, but it would also make the markers more interchangeable, which means you'd never have to go rooting through your pile for a specific one, you just have a pile of singles and a pile of tens, and you grab them as necessary.

If you want to avoid stacks of markers on the card, you could give her a double track to place beside her card (similar to Dr Manhattan's tracker, but with two adjacent tracks instead of one), and two markers to track her squirrel count like so:

I'm more worried whether it feels very squirrel-girl-y (or fun) to have her hanging in the back, not moving, just spending turns building up a big swarm of squirrels. Of course you can throw her into melee before you start gathering markers, but I'm not sure she has the survivability for that to be a very attractive option.

This also concerns me. Would it be better for it to take effect when she moves but does not attack?

Besides Martian Manhunter is there another figure that has a power to move other figures 'for free'?
Something like that seems ideal. Allow her to build up markers while still accomplishing something with the rest of your army.

Vulture, Angel, & Hawkeye II can all carry her into battle.

Iron Patriot. There's plenty of other figure movement powers too (notably carry abilities) but those are the closest to free in the sense you mean. Stuff like Distracting Fire Special Attack from Star-Lord is close, too.

And yeah, this was (one of) my first (two) thought(s). Being able to passively charge the squirrels would be key to using her effectively.

My other thought was to play her alongside attack boosters, so you could get an attack bonus on that squirrel swarm attack. Since it's a normal attack, height, tactician, power gem, enchantment, etc, should all work with it.

Star-Lord could result in 3 Squirrel Markers in a turn, in addition to giving her the attack boost. Pretty useful indeed.

I actually don't mind the ability to stack markers, personally; it's gonna be hard to really charge them up effectively any other way. But the ability for stuff like height or tactician or power gem or enchantment to boost the squirrels seems excessive and non-thematic. I'd prefer if the swarm attack was a special attack to avoid boosts.

Squirrels get buff from the Power Gem just like anyone else. They especially do well from experienced tactical orders. :)

Another possibility for the markers is to just give her one at the start/end of each round and adjust their usefulness accordingly. Or tie them to the X order marker, which as an amusing side effect would give her Loki synergy, which is actually thematic, since that she teams up with Loki several times during her current ongoing comic run.

Yeah, realizing you can get a boost on her normal attack makes me think an SA is way cleaner.

I don't have a problem with certain builds being able to abuse the hell out of her Squirrel gathering - that's a lot of investment in such a fragile figure - but being able to play thematically is big. My hope was to have her in the fray, not moving, building up the swarm, then eventually unleashing it when the going gets tough.

We could switch to moving but not attacking, but that just seems like a waste - trading an attack now for +1 Attack later isn't going to be of much use.

Have it either or. You move but don't attack, add a marker. You attack but don't move, add a marker.

I quite like the idea of tying it to the X-Marker - honestly, I don't really think she's going to be in the fray regularly that much, she's just going to get killed before you can build up your squirrels. I'd probably hold her back and give her a turn here and there to charge up before unleashing hell. That's why I feel like S.H.I.E.L.D. is probably one of her better builds right now.
