Character Bio - Cyrus Gold, a 19th century gangster, was killed and left in the Slaughter Swamp outside Gotham City. Cyrus has been brought back from the dead due to chemicals that were poured into the swamp. This reincarnation of Cryus Gold is now more monster than man. Most of his memory has been destroyed. One of the few things Cyrus can remember is that he was born on a Monday so he is called Solomon Grundy after the nursury rhyme. What Solomon Grundy lacks in intelligence, he more than makes up for in strength. Grundy's undead status has made him a very powerful adversary. Solomon Grundy is more than just a zombie. He is a creature that cannot be killed who continues to cause havoc and destruction throughout the DC Universe.

BORN ON A MONDAY 16
At the start of each of your turns after Solomon Grundy has been destroyed, roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 16 or higher, immediately place Solomon Grundy on a space adjacent to any figure you control and remove all but two Wound Markers from Solomon Grundy's card. If you place Solomon Grundy on a swamp or swamp water space, remove all Wound Markers from Solomon Grundy's card.

TOUGH
When rolling defense dice against a normal attack, Solomon Grundy always adds one automatic shield to whatever is rolled.

SUPER STRENGTH

Spelling and grammar fixes for the Bio. Looks very good Balantai.

This info belongs directly under the cards in the first post. Use this as an example.

Thanks for posting those, Griff! I believe all the first posts are now updated. :)

His ability makes me think people will try to kill him late in the game, so they only have to kill him once. On the other hand, they could just as easily want to kill him first because he has 8 attack dice. Also, the relentless personality is a nice touch.

Yeah - if you can afford to ignore him, waiting until he's the last figure is definitely the best strategy against him. But like you suggest, that attack of 8 can be hard to ignore if he gets up in your face ...
If you're just playing with the figures in the set, he's also a nice secondary Superman killer for the villains if Darkseid doesn't get the job done.

On that note, I'm pretty sure this block of text is missing from the book under "classic synergies received."

- KHOSUMET THE DARKLORD : Relentless Assault
Having a Relentless personality, Solomon Grundy may benefit from Khosumet the Darklord's RELENTLESS ASSAULT attack bonus.

I have to say, I enjoy using this guy. For some reason, he seems to be really annoying for his opponents when I use him. With his respawn ability, toughness, and attack of eight, I don't think I've seen a round yet where he failed to do some damage! So yeah, I like him:).

I am very happy that you are enjoying him Gorthan. :D

Under Rulings and Clarifications, please add this:
  • The 'S' symbol. The 'S' symbol in the lower left-hand corner of the card signifies this figure has Superstrength. A figure with Superstrength is immune to Falling and Major Falling; the figure is not immune to Extreme Falling, however. A figure with Superstrength is also able to ignore any abilities a destructible object has that would give it automatic shields.

I just realized this over in the Wonder Woman thread, but Grundy has a nice little synergy with Ana Karithon on non-swamp maps. If he respawns next to Ana he has a 40% chance of healing back up to full health on his next activation.

That is kinda cool, but I highly doubt that she will survive long enough to make this very effective. But that is a nice little trick that is worth putting up in the Book of Grundy thread. If you type it up over there, I will add it. :D

I thought this was the Book of Solomon Grundy. ;)

I'll have half of what he's on :D.

:duh: Juggling lots of threads here. :p

Go ahead and make something nice and neat, so I don't have to edit it. Then I will post it. Look at the official Books of Threads to gain some ideas.

So you're looking for:

Having the Born On A Monday 16 special ability, Solomon Grundy may benefit from Ana Karithon's Healing Word special ablility on any non-swamp, non-swamp water space. When Solomon Grundy is placed on such a space adjacent to Ana Karithon, he has a 40% chance to be healed to full health upon his first activation (assuming he is still adjacent to Ana Karithon).

Right?

Edit: I'd +rep you for trying but I'm all out for the day (and I owe more than a few pokescape guys for being awesome).

Anyone thought of using the newer Grundy figure?

In my opinion, that ones looks much better! I might pick it up on my next order. :p
I have both of them, and this guy definitely "looks" better, but the one we chose looks much more like the iconic Grundy from the comics. Still, it's not a bad idea to have other versions just in case we create... other versions. ;)

Well, I just hate the old one's face, I don't think it really looks anything like the comic, from what I've seen. The rest of him does, but the face is pretty bad! :p
