MAP BIO: The Battle of Sokovia was a major battle between the Avengers and Ultron in Novi Grad, Sokovia. Convinced that humanity was the greatest threat to peace on Earth, Ultron planned to commit global genocide by creating a device that would lift the city of Novi Grad skyward and cause it to recreate a meteoric impact when it crashed into the Earth. The Avengers' actions, however, resulted in the threat being neutralized and the Ultron Offensive being brought to an end. - https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Battle_of_Sokovia

Might be worth linking to the Books of those DO's where you mention them for ease of use?

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

Looks cool. The orbital laser in the middle could be pretty interesting and would help snipe at those on top of the warehouses. Should link the Orbital Laser glyph as well.

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

So part of our ongoing talks about competitiveness in maps was about how big height differences make the game break down a bit. If we're gonna consider this a Comp map, it might be worth looking at how to work around the Warehouse Ruins for that reason.

I'm not sure if we're allowed to have "game changing" rules on C3G Competitive Maps, but if so, something like this could be interestingly strategic.
SPECIAL RULE: ORBITAL DESTRUCTION
If a Destructible Object receives a wound from the Glyph of Orbital Laser Control, destroy that Destructible Object.

Looks good thus far. Is there a VS file? Not that I can even view that yet (still waiting for my PC to arrive).

I do, I uploaded the pdf. I assume the VS file is done the same?

That's not a bad idea. But once you throw special rules in, I think it's not a competitive map anymore. Id' really like to add to that pool.

I wonder if I should swap out the Warehouse with the wall in place to the one without the wall, here. It is easier to take down, so might be less of an issue.

I know on the classic side of things they use it with the platform at the top removed. Is that something we do or would consider?

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

I like the idea of trying it without the wall in. It's only 4 Life and 4 Defense and if you don't have SS you'll take a wound from falling. Doesn't seem too terrible.

You do have the ability to stand under the platform and not get hit from range as well.

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

Having two platforms that only flying figures can get to so close together is not great for competitive.

If we swapped the placement of the small and large ruins with the Warehouse ruins would that help?

No one answered my question about removing the platforms on the warehouse. That's how they use them in classic scape. Is that something we do?

I think that would just lead to increased camping.

I don't see why not!

You are probably right about the camping.

I think the solution is either removing the platforms or adding boom tube glyphs.

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

I think removing the platforms is good. Boom tubes would be unthematic.

Now what about the ruins? I don't think it's fair that one side gets more defense.

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

It's a shame to lose the warehouse ruins as that really kills the whole "destroyed city" aesthetic. Sad you can't put tiles on top of them either, or you could put lava field up there or something.

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

I like the idea of starting the game with the breakable wall section already removed, that makes the warehouse ruin structures much easier to destroy. The Orbital Laser getting a boost vs. DO's is a neat idea too. Makes fighting over control of that glyph pretty significant though, and I don't see any other part of the map really seeing much action as a result.

Can't they still be warehouse ruins with the platforms removed?

Does that not break the piece?

I believe that pop in and out but I'm not home right now to check

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

Seems like a mod if nothing else, though. Wouldn't that require a new DO card?

Re: The Book of Sokovian Aftermath Map - Design Phase

Yes, the platform can be removed and then reattached without breaking anything.
