The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Days of Future Past Collector Set set.
Its model number and name are #S01 / Sentinel Mark VII.

This Card and Figure below is to be used as a Sentinel proxy by gluing the joints and painting the entire figure in a blue and purple scheme of your choice. This proxy was chosen due to its affordable cost in comparison to the rare Sentinel figures listed above.

Character Bio - The Sentinels have a single purpose: find, capture, and eliminate all mutants. Built by anti-mutant anthropologist Bolivar Trask, the Sentinels are massive, three-story tall machines, capable of flight, damage resistance, mutant tracking, energy manipulation, and more. Opponents of the X-Men, the Brotherhood, and more, these unstoppable machines were designed to work in swarms, finding mutants, surrounding them, and adapting to new situations. However, these machines turned on Trask, and were defeated by the X-Men. Since then, countless new models, updates, and redesigns have brought the Sentinels back, under the control of Bolivar’s son Larry, Stephen Lang, Sebastian Shaw, and often times Master Mold, a giant machine that acts as a mobile Sentinel factory.

In the “Days of Future Past,” the Sentinels grow powerful enough to conquer the entire United States – clearly, the threat they pose not only to mutants, but to humanity itself, is a grave one.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

The one thing that makes me very in favor of this move is that I don't know what other figure we'd ever use for Master Mold and I very much want to see him.
It doesn't help that I still haven't figured out how to properly base my Sentinel so the guy stands up! Now that we have this separate thread for the Sentinels, maybe GreyOwl can share some tips on that one ...

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

The only thing I think we may need to customize on this Sentinel figure, is snapping off the rocket launcher on his shoulder, but I personally wouldn't mind it staying there either.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

I think we can suggest it in the rulebook as an alternate, cheaper figure for those that don't want to buy the real Sentinel figure. But I think the card should absolutely have the real Sentinel on it.

I wouldn't dwell on the cost too much. People that want to play the card but can't afford the figure will proxy.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

So what figure do you see us using for Master Mold, then?

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

Can't we use the same Sentinel figure, possibly repainted?

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

I'm not sure if we want to call for repainting as a necessity for using the figure. Also, shouldn't Master Mold be larger than a normal sentinel?
I really like Griffin's idea as a way of having a three tiered Sentinel "faction" with the small common ones as common squads, the ones he put up as common heroes, and the expensive large hard to rebase one as a unique hero Master Mold.

Master Mold is so much bigger though, and are you really suggesting repainting as oppose to just buying a cheaper appropriate figure? I am kinda shocked by that actually. Heroscape is about buying cheap minis that are prepainted.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

The problem I have is that regular Sentinels are huge. I would rather proxy a large figure than use the small Sentinels.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

And we're using proxied figures anyway, even if some are official Marvel proxies and some aren't, they're both still proxies, so I think we can allow ourselves some flexibility where it's reasonable to.

The figures Griff linked to are huge too - just not as huge.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

They are about the height of the dragons.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

I just don't see the point in using "fake" figures for Sentinels, so we can use the actual Sentinel figure for something else.

The reality is that they make Sentinel figures but they dont' have a Master Mold figure. If we should use a fake one for anything, it should be for Master Mold. What's our "official position" on making other figures where there isn't an actual mini available?

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

It hasn't come up before, so we don't have one yet. I'm guessing "find the best proxy" is probably what it'd be, though, and only do the unit if we like the proxy enough.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

Honestly, a couple of my main things against using our current Sentinel figures at this point are:

1) they're darn expensive
2) I can't get them to stand up on double bases
and
3) figures this big and expensive really stink if they have only 1 life. If they're going to be 1 life cannon fodder, I'd rather have a less expensive figure.

I can't help you with that.

2) I can't get them to stand up on double bases

I think we can figure this one out. Others have done it, too. I got the idea from someone else actually. It might have been Cav, but I can't remember, it's been a while. Did the larger size double-base not work for you?

and
3) figures this big and expensive really stink if they have only 1 life. If they're going to be 1 life cannon fodder, I'd rather have a less expensive figure.

I think we can figure this one out too. A lot of good idea were thrown about earlier, so I'm confident we can come up with a good solution to keep them common, but without the "glass jaw" effect.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

On the larger double base I got the Sentinel glued to it, but there's zero chance of him not falling over due to the sculpt itself being designed to lean so much.
I thought you'd actually rebased some of these and had it work for you?
I think achieving the non-glass jaw effect while keeping the Sentinels killable for common squads is going to be very, very difficult.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

Isn't there talk of possible multiple life common heroes being released in the D&D thread. I remember reading this.

I did one, and it seemed to work. But it broke off the base before I used it much (not due to any problems with it, but due to kids throwing it around ). I will try again though.

I think achieving the non-glass jaw effect while keeping the Sentinels killable for common squads is going to be very, very difficult.

Do we have to achieve that goal? Thematically, there aren't many squads that can take down a Sentinel. It should take a whole bunch of heroes.

Isn't there talk of possible multiple life common heroes being released in the D&D thread. I remember reading this.

I don't think there's any official reason to think that will happen though.

Re: Sentinels C3G X-Men Master Set

I'm currently siding with GreyOwl. We have a miniature that fits thematically perfect with what we're trying to create. There's nothing wrong with somebody choosing to proxy those Sentinels with the miniatures that Griffin found, but I don't think the proxy should be official.
