At the start of each round, choose an opponent's Unique Hero within 6 clear sight spaces of Scarlett. You may look at an unrevealed Order Marker on the chosen Hero's card. After that opponent reveals that Order Marker on their turn, and for the remainder of the round, all of your Human figures roll two additional defense dice.

CROSSBOW SPECIAL ATTACK

When Scarlett attacks a figure that is exactly 2 spaces away, add 2 attack dice to her Crossbow Special Attack. After attacking with Crossbow Special Attack, Scarlett may attack with her Crossbow Special Attack one additional time.

ACROBATIC DODGE
After rolling defense dice, you may move Scarlett one space for each shield rolled. Scarlett does not take leaving engagement attacks when moving with Acrobatic Dodge.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
Splash: She underperformed a little with the mish mash armies, but with all the Human Commando synergy coming up, she’ll probably be worth 150pts. Each game she played a little different. If she doesn’t do well in more tests, I still wouldn’t drop her under 140pts. The main issue is unless she’s in that good Crossbow range she’s not super offensive, so you’ll have to carefully plan when you’ll be putting OMs on her if you want to spite anyone who tries to take her out.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
Splash: Intelligence Officer is pretty fun, that boost to defense is a lot though. Crossbow hits hard if you have the right positioning, which would otherwise be hard to come by if it weren’t for Acrobatic Dodge. Solid support addition to a Human team, especially one with already high defense.

Karat: She is definitely a strategic centerpiece. When playing against her, I found myself recalculating where to place my OMs and if I could guess which OM my opponent would pick. When playing her I found IO hard to setup without over exposing her and was unable to get her boost in effect but I made good use of both AD and her Crossbow. I did however notice an interesting combo. Her plus Cap can let Punisher have 8 defense. While I'm sure the Joes and/or Cobra will wind up being better with her, I'm a tad concerned about her overall effect on Humans. Maybe we should narrow her pool down as right now she can seriously boost some humans to scary level defense when combined with Cap. That being said, I'm not sure it is actually a problem but I figured it is worth mentioning.
Here are 3 games from Splash and myself. As I mentioned in my summary, I'm a bit concerned even though Cap had a bad run of luck in my game and fell super quick.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (Public playtesting)

Is there some reason IO is restricted to Unique Hero?
Her power will be useless against Common Cobra which feels off.

I'm not super concerned as she has alot of losses in your games and previous games. If you are really concerned we can keep her open for more testing just to be sure. It was because of this potential that I could foresee her cost increasing, but I see that Splash is recommending her cost come down. With that, I am happy to leave her at 150, even with her high loss count.

I was concerned about exploiting this power and put this restriction so that there is a way to bypass it. Maybe too much, I don't know. How do others feel about opening it up to commons. As for specifically against cobra, we can just make their bonding come from leaders OM as opposed to the common cards. Ex. Make them more like Kingpin.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (Public playtesting)

For reference her win/loss ratio is 2 wins to 11 losses

Re: The Book of Scarlett (Public playtesting)

Honestly, I think her best builds would be a pod style build. I'll probably toss Superman I into that last build and play her against the Fan 4 and see how it does when Cap doesn't get essentially 1 shot

As to the restriction, why would we exclude Events if we include Commons?

Re: The Book of Scarlett (Public playtesting)

3 losses there at 150, I would think we could safely drop her to 140 if you are still happy with the card otherwise. Seems like it's a little tricky to pull off her defense boost, which makes me not too concerned about the stacking with Cap. Future Commando synergy could make that easier to do though, which would help make her better in Joe builds than outside of it. As such if a future Joe makes her better, then the points cost of that combo would be on their card.

The comment about setting up the Crossbow SA had me thinking we need a Commando that gave free disengage moves as Rip Cord would also like to be able to drop a bomb next to someone and run away from them sometimes. Low Light might be cool with that too as it would give him a way to get out of melee combat and set up a long range shot at someone else. So a Commando Disengage power seems to be some synergy we can work with. Maybe Stalker's LRRP power I had given him can be adapted to grant disengage as part of the free moves?

This mostly settled my concerns here. I still think it's powerful and bears watching but the trigger being variable, requiring a Unique Hero, and being within 6 clear sight spaces help to keep it in check. Still something I would watch going forward though.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (Public playtesting)

Thanks karat. I'll post a better summary when I get to a computer, but for now I'd like to propose going to final editting at 140. She is currently at 12 losses to 2 wins

Yea

I understand the general concern of a +2 defense power with no range limitation, but it's not that easy to pull off. When you do, it ends at the end of the round and you have to pull off the same feat again. Since it triggers at the start of the round, you can often just not put any OM's at all on any figures within 6 spaces of Scarlet for that round. So anyone with a range 7+ can be a counter, as well as units like Flash who can just sprint across the board and attack Scarlet.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (Breathing)

INTELLIGENCE OFFICER
At the start of each round, choose an opponent's Unique Hero within 6 clear sight spaces of Scarlett. You may look at an unrevealed Order Marker on the chosen Hero's card. Once the chosen Order Marker is revealed on that Hero's card, all of your Human figures roll two additional defense dice for the rest of the round.

CROSSBOW SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 5. Attack 3 + Special.
When Scarlett attacks a figure that is exactly 2 spaces away with this special attack, roll 2 additional attack dice. After attacking with this special attack, Scarlett may attack with this special attack one additional time.

ACROBATIC DODGE
After rolling defense dice, you may move Scarlett one space for each shield rolled. Scarlett does not take leaving engagement attacks when moving with Acrobatic Dodge.

I know Crossbow is a reuse, but we should still update it here for our current aesthetics since its not a functional change at all and does have a sizable character count impact for carding, you also left the Special off the Attack number for the attack.

Not sure about Intelligence Officer, but the way it is worded now is really strange. @Karat might be able to help more there, Could also just say "While the chosen Order Marker is revealed..."

EDIT: Crossbow was updated on Huntress' card so this is the correct wording.

You have an extra CBC randomly in the last sentence of the paste-able version but I agree that reads much better.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (final edit)

Fixed

My phone sometimes adds extra stuff for some reason.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (final edit)

How to make a Scarlett figure

You will need 2 heroclix figures (I used this huntress, but really any figure with crossbow will work)
Huntress #014 Streets of Gotham DC Heroclix

Mademoiselle Marie #029 Brave and the Bold DC Heroclix

Begin by removing the gun from the Marie figure and crossbow from Huntress. Then glue the crossbow in Marie's hands. Follow paint instructions below.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (final edit)

I should be able to do the card tonight. Regardless of my good or evil affiliation.

Re: The Book of Scarlett (final edit)
