The Book of Sadako Yamamura

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Awesome, thanks! Looks good.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Oh, should Mind-Shattering Presence affect DOs?

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

No. I always forget, what determines if a DO is considered a figure? A size?

It's tough to include all the thematic exclusions, as we've got a lot of holes in our library when it comes to that, such as fear effects not accounting for a lot of stuff etc., but I try to get what I can in there.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Yeah, she's already got a list of immunities so it's reasonable to leave some off.

I believe all DOs are figures. DOs without a size just can't be moved or have their size/height changed.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

DOs are always figures, yeah. Her affecting vehicles makes sense since the drivers would be scared and driving worse, at least.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Sadako is fairly nasty. She's hard to take out and very passive. You don't ever have to put an OM on her card for her to shred armies on the right map. I think luck slightly favored her teams each time. I was also curious what happens if Pinhead resurrects her, does she come back but the first two powers do nothing? That's what I assumed.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Sweet! Thanks.

Yes, if Pinhead brings her back, 2 of her powers would do nothing.

She looks to be in a good place, if not maybe a hair strong. With all the wins being very close or close, I'm thinking we drop her defense from 3 to 2 and call it good? Or could require an OM on her card. Let me know what you both think. @Arch-vile @tcglkn

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Yea dropping her defense is probably fine.

Glad I was right about what happens when she returns, I didn't think it was worth it to bring her back in game one for that reason.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

I never attacked Sadako in my games so the defense drop wouldn't do much. Requiring an OM would be fine, again wouldn't really change anything as you can either put the X on her or use her for Video Curse rolls. I'm cool with whatever really.

Sam and Leprechaun are 2 others that want at least 1 OM(specifically the X in Sam's case). Can't speak to other Undead stuff or the Judges to speak on their OM needs, but I figure that at least is worth something? The defense bit would help as I found she's not super difficult to take down, and UR only heals the 2 wounds if they wouldn't receive enough to be destroyed in the first place.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions, otherwise I think I'll go with those and push forward.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Sounds like the defense drop would be best then, so I'd say go with that one.

pre-yea

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

And just for clarity sake, to be sure we're all on the same page, you both played it as the Video Curse rolls were on her turn before attacking with her, not before the Viewer attacks, correct?
@tcglkn @Arch-vile

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Yep. Definitely was one I had to reread to make sure I was playing it correctly though

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

I actually didn't, I misread that as before the Viewer attacked. I'd word it like this to make it more clear:

Before Sadako attacks, if the Viewer is within 2 spaces of her, ...

Roughly the same amount of words.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

Ok, well then that's good at least. Makes her a bit less passive than you thought. I hadn't even realized the possibility of the confusion 'til I read your comments of the passiveness, so it sparked that in my head.

Yeah, rewording it for sure there to make it clearer.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

For sure much less worried about her impact now. The passive debuff is still useful but having to take turns for the auto wounds reigns it in more.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Public Playtesting)

I propose a vote to move to Final Editing.

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Vote 4 Final Editing)

Yea

Re: The Book of Sadako Yamamura (Vote 4 On Deck)

I was going to say, if there was ever a time for a "popping out of the card" design, this was going to be it. Sick!

Yea
