In many battles they feel like (slightly faster) Heavy Gruts who don't bond. But against special attackers in general and Dragons in particular, these guys are brutal. B+

These guys are pretty good. SA-based armies will have trouble against them.

Can I say I think these guys will bring Q9 down a little. With 3 attack dice for queglix he will roll an average of 1 1/2 skulls. The Nhah Scrih will roll an average of one shield with 3 defense and will also have the auto shield. With 4 attacking with 4 attack dice from height they will roll 2 skulls on average. Q9 will roll an average of 2 1/3 shields which makes it a little hard for them to wound him but it's hard for him to wound them. A squad should tie him up I think and then have a skull demon advance. Once he gets there they will be attacking with 2 1/2 skulls on average more than his 2 1/3 shields so he should go down.

While they are good against Q9+Rats :)woot:), I'm sure they're not going to "bring them down" any.

They might not but the odds aren't good for Q9 in my opinion. It does require a lot of thinking but it should work out if played right.

They are good against all "multiple ranged special attacking hero + screening squad" builds. Q9+rats, Nilfhiem+Greenscales, Quahon+Spiders, etc. Obviously they do their best against the dragon builds due to the bonus attack die, but they will hold up pretty well against a Queglix attack.

One of my favorite combos with these guys, ironically, is Zelrig. If you leave gaps, the cultists get to your heroes. If you try to gum things up, you are setting up Zelrig's Majestic Fires.

You can also use your own NSCs to set up Majestic Flames SA. ^_^

In one of my playtests, I ran them against Q9 and rats. Q9 couldn't get any kills with Queglix and had to settle for shooting one at a time.

I also played a game against Zelrig/Cultists and he massacred my spiders on a startzone screwup, while Quahon died after trying to play hit and run against the Nhah Scirh.

Here's a Valkrill themed army that immediately came to mind:

240 Nhah Scirh Cultists x3
260 Mezzodemon Warmongers x4
500 points/20 hexes

The Cultists and the Mezzodemons should do a good job covering each other's weaknesses. Does the enemy have a special attacker to bypass your exoskeleton markers? Send in the Cultists. Does the enemy have swarms of common units? Send in the Mezzodemons.

That one does look good CEE. Zelrig + Cultists, as dok said, looks good as well. I haven't played these guys yet, but I'll have to throw them in my next playtest.

Is there an alternative card for each unit (Skorize, Crossbowmen, etc...) ?

I've translated this one, and some people ask for alternative versions. ^^

I second the request for alternate cards.
I only have those with blades on their back...

I just ran some numbers and With Iron tough and 3 defence the a squad of Cultist can beat Q9 ~50% if they all can get engaged and he is throwing 3x3x3. However Q9 looks better if he uses his normal attack he can win ~60%.

But these numbers are only run agains one squad. Considering you can get 2.25 squads for that price I think the Major should be worried. I like bringing Nief to the battle to deal with nasty squads.

If anything can "take down" Q9 it is these guys.

Sorry about that, XDV, I had changed that for Tomoe's book but forgotten here. Thanks ZB for fixing it.

As I've said on many, many occasions, the proper way to link to the PDF is to go to the downloads page for the PDF, right click on the huge-ass button, choose "copy link location" or whatever choice is appropriate for your browser, and paste that into the OP.

For instance, here's the link for the Cultists:

I need to find a place to post this where all potential Bo threadmakers will see it. :D

Another request about the Icarians... Is a biography in progress for them?

We though about doing a bio for Kheris, and we could perhaps refer to Nhah Scirh Cultists's bio or, why not, find some ideas for it.

There is no bio in progress at the moment, but the Nhah Scrih were mentioned in Quahon's bio (and Nilfheim's, of course).

This unit is awesome, one of my favorites of this wave. You say they were mentioned in Nilfheims bio? So then they were thought up of before we produced them right?
