The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Giant Sized X-Men set.
Its model number and name are #001 / Madrox or #100 / Jamie Madrox.

________________________________________________________________
Character Bio - Jamie Madrox's mutant power manifested itself at birth, which is rare for a mutant. He can create exact duplicates (often referred to as 'dupes') of himself whenever he receives physical impact. As each duplicate is an exact replica of himself, he gained the codename Multiple Man. Each duplicate looks like a twin of Madrox, and will reproduce his physical appearance including his clothing. Madrox has spent time with both the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men and has also run his own investigation agency.

  • Q - What is the proper way to take a turn with multiple Multiple Man figures?
  • A - Like a squad, you move with all activated figures (moving 0 spaces is valid), then attack with all figures who moved.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

NAME = MULTIPLE MAN
SECRET IDENTITY = JAMIE MADROX

SPECIES = MUTANT
UNIQUENESS = COMMON HERO
CLASS = INVESTIGATOR
PERSONALITY = CONFLICTED

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 1

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 3
DEFENSE = 2

POINTS = 30

MULTIPLICITY
After revealing an Order Marker on this card and before moving a Multiple Man figure, roll the 20-sided die.
• If you roll 1-4, you may move and attack with 1 Multiple Man figure you control.
• If you roll 5-12, you may move and attack with up to 3 Multiple Man figures you control.
• If you roll 13-17, you may move and attack with up to 5 Multiple Man figures you control.
• If you roll 18 or higher, you may move and attack with up to 7 Multiple Man figures you control.

DUPES 17
When a Multiple Man you control receives one or more wounds from a normal or special attack, you may roll the 20-sided die before removing that figure. If you roll 17 or higher, ignore any wounds that figure just received and, if possible, place one of your previously destroyed Multiple Man figures adjacent to the defending Multiple Man.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Looks pretty good Tcglkn, I don't see anything wrong with the design.

Cheers

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Great design so far.

One other power I think he has is to divide when he gets hit. (Marro Dividers comes to mind). Just throwing it out there.

Oops, we changed to that in the public design post, but I forgot to update the .txt file on my laptop. Fixed now.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Cool stuff for sure! :) I'm loving what this guy will do for the Outcast faction as well ...
I'm iffy on the power title "Dupes" though ... what about Multiplicity?
Also, do the stats seem a tad low? I could see an attack of 3 and bumping his cost up slightly (25 or 30).

Yea, he's been in the Brotherhood and couldn't think of a good class for him.

They are called dupes though so it's thematic

I'd be cool with a higher attack and think he would be worth at least 30 then. 7 attacks of 3 is strong.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Yep, but you can get that with the Marro Drones too. Being a Ground Pounder with no range will help him keep the cost down. Might end up over 30 points, but I think that's OK ... have you figured out a mini choice for him? Aren't all the Multiple Man figs hella expensive?

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Good points. How about something like "Increase The Odds"?

You get to move and attack with an odd number of figures with each tier.

You have to figure if you can move and attack with up to 7 that people will want at least 7 of them in their army. I'd agree with Bats and say bump his attack to 3 and points to 30. 7 Multiple Mans for 210 points seems pretty solid.

Yeah me for knowing how to multiply. :)

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Common figure for the new booster coming out in a week or so...

Also matches your comic picture tickle.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Figure will probably be the new one in Giant Sized X-Men (Which is the info currently in the OP) who is supposed to be common. If it sells to fast I can't control that but it should be more availible. :shrug:

@Good Pig: Increase the Odds sounds like a power name for Gambit. :? Not digging that here.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Sweet. :) I didn't know he was a common. I'd thought I'd read he was a unique. That's really good news.

Honestly I think he's figure 001 but I'm not sure yet so I don't have the info there. At least he will be fresh so easier to find at least 1 of for proxying.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Wikipedia said:
Jamie Madrox is a changeling, which is either a predecessor to or a subset of mutants. His power is the ability to create perfect duplicates, or "dupes", of himself, and all items on his person (clothing, weaponry, et cetera) through impact when he absorbs kinetic energy (although this sometimes has happened at will) through an unknown process. Most of the time, this is caused by him snapping his fingers, stomping his foot, being struck, or collisions.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Conflicted, Complicated, and Tricky all feel like good Personalities here any suggestions?

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

MULTIPLY AND DIVIDE 12
When a Multiple Man you control receives one or more wounds from a normal attack by an opponent’s figure, you may roll the 20-sided die before removing that figure. If you roll a 12 or higher, ignore any wounds that figure just received and, if possible, place a one of your previously destroyed Multiple Man figure adjacent to the defending Multiple Man.

Minor tweaks.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

"One of your" is from the Marro Dividers. And your don't wanna be able to place opponent's Multiple Man figures. Other changes look good though. :up:

When you mentioned that I remembered a game of Classic I played where both of us had 3 squads of Phantom Knights. To tell them apart, we agreed to keep our figures with their backs to their respective starting zones.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

I like Tricky, but it might be cool to have some synergy (+1 d20 boost) for Tricky figures down the road. I know Bats has planned d20 boosts for Outcast figures as well. These are some ideas to keep in mind when deciding what roll is needed for the Multiply and Divide power.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Great writeup. I like everything, even the chance to take up to 7 turns on a good D20 roll. For 210 points, you could take 7 turns, and when compared to Penguin and Street Thugs, they get 5 turns automatically with 6 attacks at range... I think the power level here is going to be appropriate.

My only concern is with how he will synergize with other factions or special power. That is why I think his personality and class should be very exclusive.

How do you feel about CONFLICTED INVESTIGATOR.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

I really like him as an Outcast, though ... anyway we can make him work as is as an Outcast?

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

Make him cost more? I don't wanna see him cost more than 40 points or he'll start to become your entire army.

Re: The Book of Multiple Man - Design

For sure. As is, though, I think he could work at 40 as an Outcast.
