Character Bio - Mr. Incredible is a person from a race of humans born with superpowers and is referred to as a "Super." He was one of the most famous heroes of his era and was known for his skill at fighting crime. At some point, he met and fell in love with fellow superhero Elastigirl. However, soon after the two wed, bystanders who had been injured during crime-fighting attempts began to sue. The backlash forced supers like Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl into retirement and witness protection. Mr. Incredible resumed the name of Bob Parr and began a civilian life with Elastigirl, now in her civilian identity as Helen Parr.

Mr. Incredible is considered one of the most powerful Supers. During his early career, he was known for working alone, which was something that led him to push away Buddy Pine. He possesses the powers of enhanced strength and durability, as well as enhanced senses.

In the Operation Kronos database, Mr. Incredible was given a threat rating of 9.1, the highest rating of any of the supers.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

NAME = Mister Incredible
SECRET IDENTITY = Robert Parr

SPECIES = Superhuman
UNIQUENESS = Unique Hero
CLASS = Champion
PERSONALITY = Reckless

SIZE/HEIGHT = Large 5

LIFE = 7

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 7
DEFENSE = 7

POINTS = 340

SUPER GRAPPLING
After moving and before attacking, you may switch Mister Incredible and any small, medium, or large figure he is engaged with. Switched figures never take leaving engagement attacks.

RECKLESS PROPERTY DAMAGE
After moving, attacking, or using the Super Grappling special power, you must use Reckless Property Damage. Choose an Android or destructible object that Mister Incredible moved adjacent to, placed a figure adjacent to, or attacked a figure adjacent to and roll an unblockable attack die against that Android or destructible object.

HEROIC DUTY
If a friendly figure without this special power that is within 3 spaces of Mister Incredible would roll defense dice against a normal, non-adjacent attack, instead you must choose a figure you control with this special power to move adjacent to that friendly figure if it is able to. The chosen figure must roll defense and take any resulting wounds from the attack instead of the friendly figure. When Mister Incredible uses Heroic Duty, he will take all leaving engagement attacks.

SUPER STRENGTH

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

This can be simplified.
HEADLOCK 11
If there is only 1 opponent's figure adjacent to Mister Incredible, when that figure would begin its movement, if it is a small or medium figure without the Superstrength special power, you may first roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 11 or higher, that figure may not move or attack this turn. Headlock may only be used against small or medium figures without the Super Strength special power.

It's a reuse.

Not disagreeing with you, just thinking it would need to be simplified in 2 places, not 1.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

I think the Heroic Duty power was updated for when there's more than one figure with Heroic Duty.

Also, I like Super for the species instead of Superhuman.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

I assume that's a reuse of the power on Mother Russia?

Edit: :ninja:

But I'm in the Superhuman camp, personally.

This is the current wording for Heroic Duty.

But yea Headlock is a reuse.

And I like Super or Superhuman, not too picky.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Heh, I forgot she had that.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Yeah, I didn't realize it was a reuse power. Looks pretty good. He's pretty straight forward. Thinking he might pair well with your last design, drop a rock outcrop next to someone and then have him on the opposite side punching away.

Prior context means we refer to in-universe designations (Mutate for Marvel, Metahuman for DC etc.). Based on the bio, Super seems to be used in-universe (not that I know personally, haven't seen the films). If this is the case, I'm in the Super camp (though otherwise I'd probably slightly prefer Superhuman).

Should Headlock only be usable on figures who aren't Superstrong or is this a good time to make a variation on that base power?

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Yeah, from what I remember they use "Super" in the movie. That may or may not be an abbreviation or what have you... the lore in Incredibles is a bit undercooked on the subject.

Two reuses and a fairly fun (if niche) auto-wound power, I think it captures him pretty well. I'd almost suggest going with some form of Grappling over Headlock? But I don't know if him being a tiedown figure is important to the faction - seems more like Elastigirl's lane, though.

Champion works for a class, but I think any number of other generically superhero type stuff could as well, like Crime Fighter.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Looks good. Weird to see these guys here but whatever.

I like Superhuman as a generic species for anyone who isn't spelled out. I wish we would have used it in the Invincible stuff instead of Mutate, for example. They say "super" in the film, but that's basically just an abbreviation for superhuman anyway, so that's my preference.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Yea Super is basically just slang for Superhuman so I’d rather stick with Superhuman here.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Superhuman just sounds better to me.

I like this design. Reckless Property Damage & Heroic Duty are great.

I'd prefer to see the super strength restriction on Headlock lifted. I know it's a reuse and so would then require a name change, but Incredible is super strong himself so he should be able to headlock those figures. It's not like Mother Russia who doesn't have super strength herself.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

SUPER HEADLOCK 11
If there is only 1 opponent's figure adjacent to Mister Incredible, when that figure would begin its movement, you may first roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 11 or higher, that figure may not move or attack this turn. Headlock may only be used against small or medium figures.

Like so?

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

I'm good with that change!

I feel like he'll be a bit less than 350 (Which is fine, I feel like he's more of a 300 point character anyway). But otherwise looks good.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Rating his powers 2, 3, 3 on the calculator I am getting 305 for his cost.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

I’d actually disagree on the Headlock. He really struggled when faced with another SS guy in Incredible 2, to the point where he almost got beat if it wasn’t for the magic of teamwork. I’d really struggle to imagine him putting someone like Thor, Superman, or Hulk in a Headlock cause of that.

Which is why I think he should be closer to 300 than much higher. The robot from the first one probably wouldn't be a problem for our 300+ characters.

He feels like Savage Dragon (Without Dragon's healing), and I'm aiming for about 280ish for him.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Do we even need Headlock? It doesn't seem iconic to me. I'd rather just see him with the other two powers.

I like him having something in that lane thematically. He spends a lot of those movies grabbing and grappling. He’s as much a wrestler as he is a puncher, so I think something that represents that is cool.

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

Maybe something like this?

SUPER GRAPPLING
Instead of moving, you may switch Mister Incredible and any small, medium, or large figure he is engaged with. Switched figures never take leaving engagement attacks.

RECKLESS PROPERTY DAMAGE
Whenever Mister Incredible ends his movement adjacent to or on a Destructible Object, attacks a figure adjacent to a Destructible Object, or places a figure adjacent to a destructible object with his Super Grappling special power, roll an unblockable attack die against that Destructible Object.

Having him slam giant robots into stuff feels thematic?

Re: The Book of Mister Incredible - Breathing

I don't mind that direction.
