The Book of Major Q11

Added official bio. It's a long one!
One of my favorite bios under Renegade! They've been exceeding my expectations in this regard- just about every character gets a long, multi-paragraph bio that fills in much more of the origin story than a lot of the old bios did. And we have confirmation now that Q11 is indeed Q10 rebuilt. Explains why he looks so different too- his reconstruction took place on Valhalla under Qhyrion, not Alpha Prime.

While not using the character itself, Bonus Online Scenario #7 Shattered Souls features Sonlen and friends recovering the Major's "heart" from a battlefield littered with damaged Soulborgs, so that he can be reforged into Q11.

This scenario also offers two extra Soulborg cards (Common Hero and Common Squad) without figures, which can now be proxied as part of a Soulborg army! These are Rustwalkers and Scrapguards, which have a power which adds one attack die for each adjacent Soulborg.

I don't know if tournaments will allow them, but I may use them into my games here. They represent battered casualties with low but decent stats with 1 Life each, and have no point cost or General allegiance (Vydar?). So for now they are special cards that can be used only in this scenario.

They might eventually be added above in Possible Synergies (and to other Soulborg books as well). The shadowed figures shown are very much in the art style of the "Major" Soulborg series.

:coffee: I was thinking some kind of asterisk referencing them, perhaps just in this book, so people know they are available. Of course, my post above may serve that function.

The Derelicts only exist in a single scenario. In that scenario, both players' armies are completely preset. There's no circumstance in which their powers can be applied to Q11, or any other existing Soulborg.

True. But since they both get plus one Attack die for every adjacent Soulborg, then if I wanted to use them in other games, which is what I'm talking about above, they'd get it for other Soulborgs. As I mentioned, I'm thinking of tinkering with them to create a nice new Soulborg force. So I'll be consulting with my local pals about how to do that. Again, I'm posting here so others will know they are available, since not everyone looks at the Bonus scenarios, but most players refer to these book threads.

The latest Lore is now up on the front page, and explains what is going on with Q11.

A pal of mine figured out that if you split a large order into several smaller ones, you get a promo with each! So he is going to give me one. This is something perhaps you can work out with your own pals or do it yourself. At least it comes painted; I now have to paint the Thyraxis Dragoon, the first one I couldn't get painted as a promo.

Love his model, but me and my friend did a double take at how redundant his attack reads. Am I missing something, why does it say twice that he cannot target the same figure?

I don't think think there is a why other than they accidentally put it in two places. After the change to Shiori2 between preview and print, I wonder if this card will change too to remove that.

I've been proxying Q11 for some time now, and a friendly opponent just pointed out that I've/we've been playing him wrong--and I think he's right. For some reason, I've been reading that with Full Barrage you have to attack targets only at exactly 7, 5, and 3 hexes away. But a range usually means that number of hexes or less. This makes him much more powerful, and I think is the correct reading. Is that so?

For example, playing it now that better way in Renegade Bonus Scenario #10, where Q11 figures prominently as a Neutral who anyone can dump order markers on, I've just been closing to three hexes and mowing down multiple Warriors of Ashra! Lots of fun. (Sonlen opines that if Shiori will return from her Lore spying missions, perhaps he can help jog his recently reforged memory, so he'll stop attacking friends and allies! I hope that will happen, as in the future we'll be and have been playing him as a regular Vydar unit.

What!? No Q11 special does not have to target someone at the exact range limits of each attack.

Am I correct in thinking that Full Barrage Special Attack has the same limitations as Ice Shard Special Attack where if you have a figure adjacent and fail to kill that figure on the first attack, you cannot use the other two?

That is correct. If you are engaged, you cannot attack an figure you are not engaged with.

If you had multiple different figures adjacent to you, you could attack them each with one of the attacks.
