Character Bio - No one is quite sure where these mechanical monstrosities come from exactly, or who made them for that matter, but these robotic birds of war are commonly used in the criminal underground by some of the most fearsome Crime Lords. Even though the Killer Penguins have been used by many, there is one Crime Lord whose obsession with birds is so notorious that even his street name is a constant reminder that he is as eccentric as one can possibly be. Oswald Cobblepot, otherwise known as the Penguin! Using these foul fowl, Penguin has terrorized many a Gotham citizen into giving up their jewels, money, and lives. Their constant spray of machine gun bullets allows the Killer Penguins to attack without mercy several times faster than their prey.

CRIME LORD BONDING
After revealing an Order Marker on this card and before taking a turn with the Killer Penguins, you may first take a turn with any Crime Lord you control.

SUB-MACHINE GUN SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 4. Attack 1.
After a Killer Penguin attacks with this special attack, it may attack with this special attack 2 additional times.

ICE RESISTANCE
Slippery Ice and Heavy Snow only count as 1 space when moving. Add 1 die to a Killer Penguin's defense while on an ice or snow space.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

The special attack should probably say use this SA two additional times.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Looking at so many other special attacks, I don't think it is necessary, but some extra clarity doesn't hurt.

SUB-MACHINE GUN SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 4. Attack 1.

A Killer Penguin that moved but did not attack normally may use this special attack. After a Killer Penguin attacks with this special attack, it may attack with this special attack 2 additional times.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

I know the intent of the power, but I could see someone reading that as I can use the SA then use his normal attack twice.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

These guys would make cool Agents. 8) Especially since they are a unique squad and not a horde.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Awesome! :D

Simple SA works for me. I love the personality of Akward

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

I like the Special Attack a lot - nice job. I love Awkward. I'm iffy on Soldiers. I like Ice Resistance.
Slither is a total fail here for me, just because they ... don't. Snakes slither. Penguins swim. And, yeah, I know it's because we don't want to put another title on the same power (and I don't), but I feel like there's got to be another water power that's slightly different out there we can use, even if it's just something that's already been on Aquaman or Namor. Or maybe something that lets them move faster in water and have the components of slither.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Looking good Griff. I don't think I like soldier either but can't think of anything better.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

I will look for an alternative "swim" power.

Do you guys like Warriors for their class?

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

I went through the index and warrior is probably the only other existing class that could work. Minions would be funny.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Combatants maybe.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Oooh, I liked Warriors, but I might like Minions even better. Nice, GP!

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Minions sounds far too subordinate like though right? I mean these guys won't be answering to anyone but themselves (thematically and synergistically).

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Syngergistically, yes. Thematically? Really? I mean, I can't imagine these guys as anything but midget henchmen. :)

What works better for you Minions or Warriors?

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Well since I picture their sole real reason for existing in Superheroscape (beyond being a Heroscape meme) to be fighting in the name of Penguin, I like Minions best. But Warriors wouldn't be a deal breaker for me or anything.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

I also like Minions, especially if they are Androids. :D

What do you guys think about making them Androids so that they could drive our new vehicles in a way that is a bit more thematic. Also, it would just be cool.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Works for me - it'd lend a bit more plausibility to penguins carrying machine guns ... and I'd love more Androids for ULTRON.

I was discussing Ultron last night with A3n, and having cheap Androids around in his army gives him more chances of Reprogramming, but I figured that since he has to roll a natural 20, I am not that concerned about it.

Just thinking out loud here.

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Regular or Androids work for me.

Got me thinking about another Unique Android squad I'd like to design. :)

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

Android Killer Penguins is so awesome!

Re: The Book of Killer Penguins - Designing

More chances of Reprogramming is on my list of reasons why I want to see more Androids. :)
Also on my list is Cyborg Superman ...
