Character Bio - The smartest dog Mutt has ever trained was Junkyard, who accompanied Mutt into the army. It is suggested that Junkyard is more popular than his master, since he is friendlier than Mutt.

MILITARY CANINE
At the start of the game, choose a Unique Human Soldier figure that you control to be Junkyard's Master. After revealing an Order Marker on his Master's Army Card and before taking a turn with his Master, you may first take a turn with Junkyard, and you may not take any additional turns with other figures you control other than his Master.

DISTRACTING BITE
If Junkyard's Master attacks a figure that is adjacent to Junkyard with a normal attack, add 1 automatic skull to that roll.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Breathing)

Junkyard will be designed to work with his master Mutt. As some changes might happen to Mutt as the design goes, I may put Junkyard on hold rather than on-deck right away.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Breathing)

Not sure the exact timing of the second power in terms of when the move actually occurs. That's something worth clarifying a bit.

40 seems about right to me.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Breathing)

Right. It should read "After his master attacks...". The plan is for Junkyard to run up and make a melee attack, then his master shoots at that figure to give junkyard the cover to run back for safety.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Breathing)

Does it trigger before or after defense dice are rolled?

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Breathing)

Yeah, that can be interpretively muddy is all, thus my question. :)

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Vote for Initial)

I'm hoping that the lack of comments here are a good sign. Calling for a Vote for Initial testing.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Vote for Initial)

Should Covered by Master let him move "up to" 3 spaces rather than just 3 spaces?

yea

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: With plenty of movement options his survivability is alright at best. His weak attack is really only useful against extremely weak figures. At this point I do not think he is worth the 40 points.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Initial)

I definitely want to lower his cost. I'm thinking of ending his cost with a "5" and having Mutt do the same so they pair up. In all three games, Junkyard was almost completely ineffective, would 25 be too low?

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Initial)

Hard to say with the games all still being close like that, but you could try it. Not sure there's a huge difference between 25, 35, and 40.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Vote for public)

I just know that at 40 points he felt like a waste to me. I propose public testing at 25.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Vote for public)

yea

If you're looking to power him up, you could give him Pounce from the classic Heroscape wolves. It's not nearly as good of a power in C3G so it'd be more of a last-ditch attack. But I also think letting Junkyard be a simple low cost bonder is fun too.

Re: The Book of Junkyard (Vote for public)

Was kind of expecting to see Mutt and Junkyard get run together in one thread with Junkyard getting spun out later. I guess since Junkyard can work with any Solider and not just Mutt running him first by himself works as well. The initial look over made me think the power names could use an update. Since the first power calls out Soldiers specifically I'd give it a military spin and save the generic name for a different kind of pet card. Oh and it's minor but the personality seems a bit weird to me. Maybe something like Fierce, Protective, or Loyal.

After skimming the testing feedback I like the idea of some kind of pounce/defend power being on this card. That way the trained dog still has some teeth when not with Mutt. Could consider representing that in way that isn't an attack but a distraction, like have Junkyard give his master the disengage power by attacking anyone trying to lock them down. Maybe have it work both ways so you can disengage with whichever one you need to at the time. Just something that just popped into my head.

yea if you still want to move forward as is, but understand if you want to tweak the design some first.
