The Book of Joker Goons

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

:word: Patience. There's a reason things are done a certain way. I have no problem with the LD running a few side tests if he/she feels they need to, but if you feel the need to test the units cost, wait for the Playtesting phase :2cents:

Sorry, still trying to figure things out. when should we start playtesting?

No worries, It was just a general statement as you are not the only offender of it. Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand something.

After the Initial, there will be a vote, where the Heros will vote to move them to playtesting, and then there will be three slots open for playtests.

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

AKA we playtest in the Playtesting phase. :) You'll know it's the Playtesting Phase because it'll say so in the title of the thread.

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

THANK YOU SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO MUCH! Question though whats a 'Hero' in referance to the C3G system?

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

We're the ones who get to vote on everything in the design threads, and we also lead the majority of the designs and manage the releases from the security of our hidden sanctum. :)

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

You can find a list of the current heroes here. Which can also be found in the Welcome to C3G thread listed under Current C3G Members :)

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

Alright, really sorry about the exceedingly long wait, but I'm hoping to get this done tonight. I'll at least start it, and keep you guys updated!

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

Got through 1 army test. I'll do the next one by tomorrow. I'm thinking about 120 so far, actually. I tested them with Carnage, and he killed Robin, put 3 wounds on Batman, then took another turn by sacrificing a Goon, and killed a Beat Cop and then finished off Bats. I'm going to throw Green Goblin into the mix next time and see!

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

I'm a bit confused. In order for Carnage to have killed Robin, then put 3 wounds on Batman he would have to be adj. to both of them when he started attacking. If that was the case, Vigilante Protection would dictate you attack & kill Batman before Robin could be attacked.

Carnage has 2 range, perhaps that's what happened? Though it would've been silly on the Batman player's behalf.

Actually on second thought, if Carnage is initiating the assault this wouldn't be hard to do at all. Just go on Robin from the side, keeping Batman 2 away. That's actually pretty tricky, and is a slight loophole in how I thought Robin worked.

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

Yeah, that is it. I looked at the Carnage card several times to make sure I was reading the kill crazy power correctly and never even looked at his range number. Thought it was 1.

C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Joker Goons

- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
Pass LOVE the theme here! They feel like they’re exactly out of the movie, shooting each other, and not knowing which of them is actually Joker. Cool stuff!

- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
Pass

- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
Pass They’re definitely powerful, but are unique with low defense, which keeps them in check.

- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak.
Pass

- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
Pass Like I said, powerful, but has checks. They’re kind of like the Hired Guns. RIDICULOUS at first, but they lose their worth fairly quickly.

- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
Pass

- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.
Pass

- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting.
Pass

- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable.
Pass I didn’t use Clowning around at all, and I really really could have once, but I thought that they were more valuable than Joker at that point, so Joker took the hit.

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game.
Pass

Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 110-120
- Give a brief overview. They ARE a squad, and as such generally are expected to out-perform heroes.

Spoiler Alert!

Squad Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 110-120
- Give a brief overview. Mostly luck here, the Hawkmen couldn’t roll defense.
Map: Badland Bog
Units: Hawkmen of Thanagar (100)
Spoiler Alert!

Squad Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 110-120
- Give a brief overview. The Amazons tried to get close but were gunned down too fast. The last living one tried to throw a spear, but at only 1 attack, it didn’t get very far.
Map: Badland Bog
Units: Amazon Warriors (100)
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 120+
- Give a brief overview. They are BRUTAL with Carnage. But, like the Hired Guns, that brutality only lasts a short while until they go down. The Cops here had a really bad showing right from the start, so the next test should show some skill a bit better. They used their “All part of the Plan” only once, but it was a doozy, offing a cop and the Dynamic Duo (All 4 wounds on Bats!).
Map: Badland Bog
Units: Joker Goons (110), Carnage, Joker (II), Harley (660)
Vs.
Batman (II) (Police Scanner, Bat Shuriken, First Aid), Robin (Tim Drake), Commissioner Gordon, Beat Cops x3 (655)
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? 110-120
- Give a brief overview. They lost, but had a darned good showing. If Carnage didn’t go down as fast as he did, the Goons would have had him rampaging. Goblin still did a lot for them, and once Hugo mutated Joker, he took out Johnny himself plus putting 4 wounds on Thing. The Fan Four really couldn’t focus attacks on the goons since there was always some crazy freak running straight at them who was much more dangerous and had to be dealt with. It gives your opponent’s some cool choices. They used their “Part of the Plan” 4 times, which really helped against those heavy hitters.
Map: Badland Bog
Units: Joker Goons (120), Joker (II), Harley Quinn, Hugo Strange, Carnage, Green Goblin (1055)
Vs.
Fantastic Four, Wasp (1050)
Spoiler Alert!

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

close game on that last one, they actually seem to be on the higher side of the estimate, I thought they would be closer to 100 or maybe lower. They really dish out the punishment with Carnage though, I could imagine that getting out of control if your opponent had more squads (to boost KC with).

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

I'd go 120 at minimum here. I could see 130 potentially. They're looking solid in that range, though, IMO. :) Good tests, LP!

Pre-yea for Playtesting.

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

Yeah, they were dominating the HH teats already, and that's without use of their powers. I'd go into testing expecting 120. :)

Pre-Yea

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Vote for Public Play Testing)

Yea

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test)

Great tests Lord Pyre! I'll go ahead and propose we move to public testing at 120 points then.

Can't propose until the initial's been completed for 24 hours. ;-) You can accept pre-yeas, though!

Doh! Sorry, got carried away with it after such a long lull. I'll change the thread title.

Re: The Book of Joker Goons (Initial Play Test Completed)

I still say 90-100 points sounds fair, but you guys have been around way longer than I have and I trust you're oppinion (seeing that I am NO GOOD at judging point value anyway) so, you're bumping it up to 120 then?
