The Book of Helicarrier Map

Keep in mind that these are OPTIONAL rules, though - in the game I just played I didn't use Turbulence or the propellers. You don't need to use both, or either.

Fair enough. :) That's definitely a key point. As long as it's "optional" I think it's OK, because then when you build a scenario off of a map like this, you can just add in a line like "This scenario uses the Turbulence Optional Rule" or "The Propeller Optional Rule is in effect for this scenario."

Sorry it's been so long here guys.

Updated the OP with the optional rule. Updated the HSC file & picture with the addition of the battlements as antennas.

I propose this move to final editing.

Man, I love our Map Dept. Soooooo many cool maps to use for scenarios down the road! :)

1 Yea + the proposal & this passes on time, but is a rather disappointing effort from the rest of the map department members.

Sorry I missed the vote A3n. :(

Though, considering I've had a design pass to final editing nearly a month ago and not get any art started on it, it seems a few things get missed here and there.

Yeah, no idea how I missed this one entirely since I read through the forums on a daily basis. Sorry 'bout that. It'd have gotten my Yea.

PDF added to OP. Now if somebody has the time to build this from the PDF we can move it towards release.

Some minor bio editing. You had one verb-less sentence, a double period, and we tend to keep them in one paragraph chunks (though if you have you heart set on two you could probably split it again and de-truncate the last bit).

The Helicarrier, an aircraft carrier specifically designed to be itself capable of independent powered flight in addition to the standard functions of traditional seaborne carriers, is the world headquarters and signature capital ship of the extra-governmental intelligence/defense agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Built by Stark Industries and designed by Tony Stark, Dr. Reed Richards, and former X-Man Forge, the Helicarrier houses wings of fighters and other aircraft, not to mention wings of advanced weaponry, including an intercontinental ballistic missile.

My wife's locked down with her first comprehensive exam for her PhD this weekend, so other than waiting on her hand-and-foot as necessary, my Saturday is pretty wide open. :) I'll put building this right up on my "to do" list.

OP & PDF updated.

OK, I built it!

It looks good. No stability issues. The only two possible issues I found were as follows:

1. I ended up short one concrete single hexer. It's possible I misplaced mine. Worth double checking the count, though.

2. This one's a definite needed change, but should be easy. On page 2 of the PDF, I'm pretty certain that Level 8 should be Level 19. Otherwise, the build doesn't make sense.

I hope that helps! :)

Is the propeller and the high tower not connected to the rest of the map but just sitting next to it? It looks like we should be able to get it to interlock with the other castle walls it is next to.

It interlocks at Level 11. It's not much, but it's stable enough.

Oh, man! I just printed out and cut out the propellers and added them, then added the movie Avengers, Loki, and some SHIELD Agents, as well as a couple of plastic toy military jets. Sooooo awesome!

I think I just died and went to geek heaven. :-D

Great, now you are making me want to build this one...

Heh. Pretty much.

And you should, Chief! It looks so cool! :)

Many props, A3n. It's so awesome to see this come to fruition. If I ever do an Avengers Campaign, there will be at least one scenario on this map for sure.

Umm, not sure what you mean here?

1. Double checked & VS is saying that I have only used 8 single spaced concrete hexes.

2. My bad, was supposed to change that. Fixed now.

If Quozl concern is consequential then I will propose we release this map. Otherwise Quozl, let me know I will fix straight away.

Cheers
