Character Bio - The Helicarrier, an aircraft carrier specifically designed to be itself capable of independent powered flight in addition to the standard functions of traditional seaborne carriers, is the world headquarters and signature capital ship of the extra-governmental intelligence/defense agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Built by Stark Industries and designed by Tony Stark, Dr. Reed Richards, and former X-Man Forge, the Helicarrier houses wings of fighters and other aircraft, not to mention wings of advanced weaponry, including an intercontinental ballistic missile.

-Rulings and Clarifications-
SETUP
The warehouse ruin tile is used as per level 01 without the inclusion of the ruin itself. Print 4 propellers, from page 3, on cardstock and mount on castle walls as indicated on level 11.

OPTIONAL SPECIAL RULES
PROPELLER SUCTION
If your figure occupies a space under a propeller at the end of a turn in which it received 1 or more wounds, roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 1-2 and the figure has the Super Strength power, that figure receives 2 additional wounds. If you roll 1-2 and the figure doesn't have the Super Strength power, destroy that figure.

Very nice! :D

I love the alternating concrete tiles along with the solid line, as the alternating tiles give the illusion of landing lights.

Super cool. :D I can't think of any complaints other than the lack of propellers (which we could probably update this with if/when they're designed as a DO) and maybe an optional Turbulence Rule that we were talking about.

I like it! Had no idea that you guys did books on maps.

We've got a whole sub-section full of well-designed comic-themed maps. :D Poke around, I'm sure you'll find something you like!

I am now, found Odin's Challenge. I really like it, and think I may have to follow C3G now

Another convert! Soon the whole world shall be oursssss ....

That's a great landing pad, A3N! I like the propeller housings, too. Still, it should have something a bit more going on, and I'm not sure what. :?

It should be on top of one of those sky mats! :)

I love the look of this!

One suggestion though, if you're open to some modification:

In the movie, I really liked the scene with CapAp in the structure of the carrier, fighting at the control box while Iron Man flies around the propeller. Do you think you could add some thickness to the map with the RotV set and have some levels below the runway?

EDIT: I don't mean a multilevel map, just a narrow "ledge" of hexes jutting out at the bottom.

Remembering of course that this is based on the comic book version (not the movie), I did have it thicker in my first rendition, I had included the dungeon set but for only the extra 2 layers it added & no real extra playability I thought it was better to reduce the required sets. I'll have another play with it (although it is holding me up from doing another army test for my design) :D.

Get your army test done A3n, the Hellicarrier can wait until your design is out of your hands and in public testing :)

Oooh ... we totally need to make a printable PDF for the propellers to go with this! :) That'd be an awesome touch!

Great pictures, David!!

Great idea Davidlhsl, here's what I came up with:
HelicarrierPropellers.jpg

Wow, those look super great. Definitely a cool touch - would I be correct in assuming they space between the propellers and the standing is about 5 tall? Like, could a Medium 5 figure fit?

6 levels, or 2-1/2" = 63.5mm clearance.

Any taller, and you're getting a haircut.

Edit: This concept could open some possibilities in future map designs. :D

Very cool! :) Now we just need to make them into DOs with special rules for this map where if one of them destroys you get turbulence or something. :-D
