Character Bio - Lisa Snart was frequently viewed as the tag-a-long sister of Captain Cold and Mirror Master's girlfriend in the early days of the Rogues. When the Rogues decided they had enough of being technologically reliant on their devices, the Rogues worked with Dr. Darwin Elias to rewrite their weapon's powers into their own DNA. However, during the experiment Lisa was caught in the explosion that gave everyone their powers, unintentionally giving her metahuman abilities as well but also causing her to develop a brain tumor.

-Rulings and Clarifications-
  • Q: What happens when Golden Glider chooses Captain Cold (I) for Rogue Duo, and Captain Cold inflicts a wound with Cold Gun Special Attack?
  • A: You get a total of 3 turns. Captain Cold -> any Unique Rogue Hero in clear sight of Captain Cold -> Golden Glider. Golden Glider can get two turns in a row this way.
_________________________________________________________________

-Combinations and Synergies-

Incoming Synergy:Outgoing Synergy:
  • Golden Glider can choose a Rogue to bond with for her Rogue Duo special power. If Golden Glider chooses Chillblaine, when he is destroyed, she may choose another Rogue due to his Expendable Rogue special power.
Immunities, Benefits, and Weaknesses:_________________________________________________________________

-Strategy, Tactics and Tips-
  • Golden Glider is one of the few sources of Rogue autowounds, so use Golden Tendrils Special Attack to go after figures with annoying defensive powers!
  • Rogues faction strategy

At the start of the game, choose another Unique Rogue Hero you control. After revealing an Order Marker on the chosen Hero's card and taking a turn with that Hero, you may take a turn with Golden Glider. You may not take any additional turns with other figures you control.

INTANGIBILITY

Man that mini and the comic art are a really good match.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

So theoretically you could take a turn with Cold, fire off his gun and inflict a wound, then take two turns with Golden Glider? I'm fine with it in terms of game balance and mechanically, but just checking.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

I suppose so, yeah. If that's something we want to avoid we could add a "if Golden Glider has not taken a turn this player turn." It's kinda wonky but I'm cool with it since Cold is fairly weak and they're a thematic pairing.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

I don't think it needs avoiding - she's not doing anything particularly powerful on her turn.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

She's a solid sidekick for a mini faction. I like it a lot. She won't do a ton, but intangibility gives her some staying power , so I'd be more inclined to kill her partner before her.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

A nice cheap addition to the faction and should help give them some consistency.

My one thought here is Rogue Duo and making sure we try to keep a semblance of consistency with our other bonding characters. It's not a Sidekick power or a Team-Up power. It's kind of a Companion power, but we're not super consistent about those either.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

Would it be better to have her go before the Rogue Duo partner so we don't run into weird double consecutive turn things?

What do you mean? Are you referring to what we were discussing above? :)

I'm all for consistency. I'll go through the index and see what type of companion powers are out there for wording consistency.

People seemed to prefer that we allow Captain Cold chain-bonding as Captain Cold is weak and Golden Glider is a thematic partner, and I've come around to that side. It'll happen rarely enough and Glider doesn't have a ton of offense to abuse it.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

I was meaning having her go first just so it would be:

Glider - Cold - Glider

rather than

Cold - Glider - Glider

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

Ah, but then you'd have to cut the "no additional turns" language from her card. But maybe that's OK?

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

I'm kinda wary about cutting that line from Glider's card, especially since Cold doesn't have it either. With him it's kind of a happy accident since Cold isn't that powerful, but I don't want to limit design space by doing it again.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

Yeah, I guess it could get in the way of our ever designing another Rogue who had an Order Marker reveal power that provided Rogue bonding, since that'd already stack with Captain Cold and then her as well.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

Oh yep. I think I missed that. So it works with Cold so long as she goes last. I do think there's going to be some people who would raise issue with the double turn and order of powers (given that the Rogue Duo turn would technically negate the Cold created turn) if they double up on Glider, but there's no way to guard against people being jerks.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

The Cold created turn is immediately, though, so it'd definitely trigger first.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

I'm bumping Blacksmith up my to do list ....

I actually gave it a once over and couldn't find any direct analog, so I think we're good - you've successfully staked a claim to "Duo" for this specific construction. :D I might suggest cutting the "partner" stuff, as the wording is actually simpler without it.

ROGUE DUO
At the start of the game, choose another Unique Rogue Hero you control. After revealing an Order Marker on that Rogue's card and taking a turn with that Rogue, you may take an immediate turn with Golden Glider. You may not take any additional turns with other figures you control.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

Sounds good to me! Thanks Johnny. I'll update the SP once the breathing period is up.

Re: The Book of Golden Glider (breathing)

@Soundwarp SG-1

I forget, was there some mechanical reason we didn't like the
Figures can not roll more than 1 defense die against this special attack.
mechanic? I remember that coming up during criticism of Judge Death, but I cannot recall if it was purely from a "he would be fine just taking all the dice away" perspective, or if there were also an element of "this mechanic should not exist" thrown in there.

That's the only thing that jumps out at me here. Looks groovy otherwise, though I only know the CW version of the character.

(Who I have always loved for the scene in her very first episode, where she tears off her wig to reveal.... that she's a character we've never met. Why were you wearing that wig, Lisa?)
