NAME = GODZILLA
SPECIES = KAIJU

CLASS = DESTROYER
PERSONALITY = FEROCIOUS
SIZE = HUGE 17

LIFE 20

RANGE 1
ATTACK 6
DEFENSE 5
POINTS=1000

ATOMIC BREATH SPECIAL ATTACK

Range Special. Attack 4.
Before taking a turn with Godzilla, place a blue Atomic Charge marker on this card up to a maximum of 8. Remove 4 Atomic Charge markers from this card to use this special attack. Choose 8 spaces in a straight line from Godzilla. All figures on the chosen spaces and in clear sight of Godzilla are affected by this special attack. Roll 4 attack dice once for all affected figures. Each skull rolled counts as one additional hit.

WAKE OF DESTRUCTION
While moving, Godzilla may destroy any destructible object or obstacle that is adjacent and unoccupied; may move through and never takes leaving engagement attacks from figures that are not huge; and does not stop his movement when entering water spaces. After moving, roll 1 unblockable attack die against each figure Godzilla moved through.

KING OF THE MONSTERS
You may add 4 attack dice to Godzilla's normal attack if at least one of the following is true:
• Godzilla did not move this turn; or
• Godzilla attacks a huge figure or a destructible object.

SUPER STRENGTH

I thought there was a charging up type power just last night.

8 space area attack with 4 attack deadly shot...dang. Don't mess with him.

Never voted. I'd have voted Kaiju. Also hope to see the charged version of the SA. Guessing you may just not have used the updated version.

Also what figure are we using here? The info doesn’t make that clear and I want to get it.

Dinosaur's weird, but I don't know his origin. I thought he got mutated in the 1940s from nuclear radiation.

I like the idea of a charged beam. The current draft will be using the Atomic Breath almost 100% of the time against non-Huge figures. It'd be cool if that was more of a rare thing but more impactful when you use it.

King of the Monsters is a pretty insane power, and I wonder how that's going to affect his cost. Most of the C3G library isn't Huge, so it's not going to come up. But once we start designing some Godzilla enemies, it's going to be active. So if he's balanced against superheroes he's probably going to crush most of his thematic enemies unless they have a similar power. Toning it down some (like 6 base attack, +4 from that power) would help even the scales.

If you say Godzilla three times in front of a mirror, he'll appear before you.

He did. In a good chunk of the movies though (can't speak to all of em, just the few I've seen), he was explicitly a dinosaur (that somehow survived into the 40s) before that.

Everything I have seen says Dinosaur-like for him not Dinosaur but I am not going to argue something we discussed and I was out voted on.

This really doesn't help and if I cannot understand the mini info as someone heavily invested in the group then what is the point of having it?

I refuse to compromise my principle of making Bloody Mary jokes when teed up that cleanly.

Pretty sure the actual info'd be something like Playmates Toys/Godzilla/Godzilla, so Godzilla three times isn't that far off. I'm sure quozl will sort it soon, especially knowing people are eager to find the figure.

Dinosaur, not Kaiju?

That’s what I said. But we voted and it seemed to lean towards not using Kaiju. I don’t think Godzilla is Dinosaur but :shrug:

He is a prehistoric creature but I don't think dinosaur is quite right!

Anyway, I am really looking forward to seeing where this ends up. I already have my King Kong made and looking forward to a fight between those two.

Yep, copied over the wrong SA. Here is what it should be:

This is the figure info you want here.

Cool writeup. The charged breath is cool. Normally I'm not a fan of counterdraft powers (Especially one so freaking insane), but most of the time he's just going to walk through everything.

Hoping he'll be fun to play, as just walking and dealing autowounds might get a bit stale, or be frustrating to play against. The writeup definitely feels like Godzilla though!

I'll go on record here: I still think a Godzilla that fits on two spaces and is only a couple stories tall, rather than a huge, skyscraper-dwarfing beast is such a reduction of the character that I don't think it's worth doing. I like Godzilla and an iteration that small misses everything I find cool about them - namely, being really, really, REALLY big.

Like, Wake of Destruction is cool and all, but I think he's going to feel less like Godzilla and more like the Juggernaut. Or Kool-Aid Man. :p

But taking it as it is:

- 4 Attack is super low, even with his funky "fights other monsters" power. If he takes a swing, or a tail smash, or a bite out of a human being, he should be doing some damage. 7-8 Attack minimum.
- Same thing with defense. Like, I do get the "he's just tanking the hits" logic, but I feel like he should have more resistance to random dudes with guns and more vulnerability to special attacks, with something like Tough.
- I agree that overusing the Atomic Breath is kind of an issue, and would like some sort of charge-centric or limited version.

And not sure how I feel about Protector, but I guess that boils down to what iteration you're working with.

This is the 1954 version where he was only 50 meters tall. Newer versions are at least twice the height and there have been some drafts for larger versions for C3G.

Protector does feel kind of off when he feels more like a “destroy everything” Godzilla.

I honestly like the low defense. Sure, it may not be perfectly thematic, but I much prefer Event Heroes that you feel like you can make progress on over ones that block everything.

Eh, 50 meters is still way, way bigger than this figure will be scale-wise. That's over 150 feet, more than 30x the size of a human being. This figure is... three, maybe four times the size of our humans? Like, it's a Godzilla that's literally less than 1/5th the size of the smallest version - a version that still, like, sees people as ants and eats whole trains.

I don't think it's something I can be won over on. :shrug: It's too compromised a vision to be worth doing, and I'm not interested in playing with a version that far off the mark. Others can have their fun, as I'm pretty sure I'm alone in that stand, but it's always going to be a black mark for me.
