Glyph Bio - Perhaps it's paranoia. Maybe it's unnecessary. But when the mighty fall to the dark side, it's best to be prepared - and even Superman has his weaknesses.

GLYPH OF UTILITY: KRYPTONITE GAUNTLETS
(Kryptonian Defense Reduction)

EQUIPMENT GLYPH
When this figure attacks an adjacent Kryptonian figure with a normal attack, the defending Kryptonian rolls 3 fewer defense dice.

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

Wow, Metallo with 3+ wounds is going to reduce Supe's defense by 5 when equipped with these puppies, and no Kryptonian Defense for Supes

As Lex would say, "Someone needs to bring that alien down a notch!"

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

Yep ... I could see making it only -2 if folks think that's too much ... I'm starting to think it might be. I want it to be enough to bother with, though, so it needs to be more than -1, IMO.

Also, Supes can use that big attack to knock them off pretty easily against most foes.

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

I figured the best bet here was to try to make the gauntlets look green in art ...

Yeah and if Metallo has 3+ wounds already to get his K Glyph flipped over, then he's practically got one foot in the grave, but then again, if Supes has a few wounds on him then it could be really fun :D

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

Looks solid. Nothing to add here. Testing will show if -3 is too much.

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

I like it, see how it tests if -3 is too much then it's an easy change.

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

Cool. I'll stay -3 for now then. :)

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

-3 is preferable for me as well.

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

Well if you're not worried about Supes, I'm not! :)

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

I figure if we want people to bring this glyph along as insurance for Batman, it better have enough power to convince them it is a good idea.

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

Good thinking Griff, a -3 is certainly more enticing to take it with Bats.

Yes, I just had to Google this. Batman fought Superman? Apparently, yes! I have a feeling Lex is going to want this, so it certainly passes as a stand-alone glyph.

Similar to the Glyph of Kryptonite, its utility is really limited to battles with Kryptonians. However, this is so iconic in the comics world that you have to include it.

I considered going Kryptonite Ring instead, but since there's a Clix mini with the Kryptonite Gauntlets, I thought it'd be fun to go with them.

And it also helps to dissuade us from ever feeling obligated to use that mini. :)

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (GLYPHS OF UTILITY: FIRST AID KIT, INFRARED GOGGLES, KRYPTONITE GAUNTLETS)

- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
PASS

- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
PASS

- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
PASS

- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak.
PASS

- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
PASS

- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
PASS

- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.
PASS

- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting.
PASS

- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable.
PASS

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game.

Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes

- What should be the unit's point value? N/A
- Give a brief overview. On a map choked with shadow and jungle and a powerful Kryptonian looming, all the glyphs saw significant use.
Map: Custom – 2 of each glyph were scattered around the map in strategic positions. Fifteen Shadow Tiles and 18 jungle pieces were scattered around the map.
Units: Superman (400), Ronan (360), Kree Scout x6 (240) (1,000) vs. Super-Skrull (Rl’nnd) (280), Super-Skrull (Kl’rt) (340), Skrull Warriors x3 (330), Skrull Infiltrators x5 (50) (1,000)
Spoiler Alert!

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets - Design Phase

I propose we pass the Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets, the Utility: Infrared Goggles, and the Utility: First Aid Kit to Final Editing!

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets-VOTE Final Edi

Yea

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets-VOTE Final Edi

Down to Hambone and GP! :)

Re: The Book of Utility: Kryptonite Gauntlets-VOTE Final Edi

I think you are actually down to just Hambone with GP putting himself on leave.
