Ticalla Jungle - Tree and Brush Pack with Spiders

displayimage.php

If you cannot see the Army Card graphic, check Hasbro's Unit Page for stats and special powers, plus "character biography" and other non-game unit info.

Character Bio: - Deep in the heart of the Ticalla Jungle, great threads of silk hang from the trees. The silk catches the falling rain, forming it into a thousand beads of crystal. When the rain clouds clear and light pours in through the jungle’s leafy canopy, the webs of the Fyorlag Spiders shine, revealing their intricately crafted beauty.

When the sun burns away the droplets of rain, the web nearly disappears from sight. The kyrie of the Moon Tribe know how to look for the silver tendrils of a fyorlag’s web, but those foreign to the jungle do not.

The web will latch onto a man and hold him tight. Struggling against the silken trap can win the man his freedom, but the fyorlag spiders won’t likely wait long enough for that to happen.

Jexik: Fyorlag Spiders- I don't know which one's Gary, and which one's Olaf, but they're tough to win with, even with the new units in D1. C+

OEAO: B

Cleon: Tier 5 (115/208)

dok (VC inclusive): They're not quite the Greenscales, but a Quahon/Spider army can be a fearsome combination. B+

I think these spiders could give the Deathreavers a run for their 40 points at being a new type of locking up unit, not in the sense that the high-ish 4 defense Deathreavers lock down, but with the annoying order marker removal. The bonding allows for the spiders to not 'waste' turns on them, since you can activate Sujoah as well!

I love these new spiders, but I would hate going against a bunch of squads of them. They can be a real pain just like a lot of Zombies or Deathreavers.

The Zombies have Rise Again, the D'Reavers have Scatter, Spiders have Entangling Web...

Annoying powers seems to go a long way. ;)

Don't have the jungle, so I can't say much about these experience wise... But considering what I've done with Sujoah by himself, I don't like to think what he could do with the spiders...

Hello. Yesterday I was playing a game and my opponent had the Fyorlag Spiders and was using their climb x3 ability to go up elevations. When the spiders came back down I said "falling damage", but then thought that could not be right.

I'd just like to know if they also have falling x3, or if they take damage from falling from a height of 3 or even 2. I assume they do take damage from these low drops, but I wanted to make sure. This would be helpful info to me concerning all the units with the climb enhancement ability.

Thank You. Sorry if this a bad question in the wrong place. I searched a bit and didn't find an answer.

Climbx3 does NOT save them from falling damage - the Spiders need to take the stairs.

~Aldin, falling too fast

EDIT Oops! /EDIT

The simple answer is actually written on the card, right under "Climb x3". It says "When moving up or down levels of terrain, Fyorlag Spiders may triple their height." I would suggest that next time you carefully read the card and/or rules to try and find the answer.

So as long as they are going down heights of 6 or less, they do not take falling damage. 7 or higher and they *thump* when they hit the ground.

And good job on posting in the correct spot.

The spiders and Sujoah, are a lot like the Nagrubs and a Hivelord. Yes, I know I'm stating the obvious, but the diference between them are crucial. Sujoah, doesn't pack as much of a punch as Tor-Ku-Nal, but can move 8 spaces and fly. Well that makes up for it. The spiders are much better glyph grabbers, than the Nagrubs, but can't heal Sujoah. They're similar, but the spiders are cooler in my opinion. :) Sorry I went a little off topic.

Thank you all for the answer and welcomes.

I guess I overlooked the climbing down on the card because I always picture the figure just making a big jump down. Plus it was the guy I was playing with that neglected to tell me the details of it (wasn't his fault he was getting sleepy and it was near end game) and I thought it would be a good chance to make my first post on this site. Sorry for the haste.

MattWolf99 I do see the similarities between the spider/Sujoah and nagrub/hivelord combos, but I think they have too many differences to be considered alike apart from a weak squad bonding with a powerful hero. They don't seem anymore similar than other bonding squads. The KoW with Alastair and Heavy Gruts with Grimnack are just as closely related, more so in pt. values. Anyway, perhaps the spiders will branch out their bonding choices in the future with another predator, like Fire Ant King. Until then I can always boost them with The Mitten Warlord.
(See, I found some nicknames, abbreviations, and future unit speculation on this site already. Heroscapers.com is very well put together:thumbsup:)

Technically it would be 5 or less. Tripling their height gives them 6, thus they can move up or down 5 or less without falling.

I got to see these guys in action for the first time today. Overall, they did fair, but didn't end up destroying their points worth. But with a unit like this destroying figures is not necesarrily their objective. I really like that you can Entangle with one trio, and move and attack with another. That really makes their ability more viable. I can also see now that if you're going to field the Spiders, you really ought to have Sujoah as well. On their own, they aren't nearly as useful as, say, the Deathreavers to which they are being compared.

On a side note, I really like the one Spider that looks like he's waving. :D

EDIT:
Yeah, this one...

Has anyone had much luck playing the spiders without Sujoah?
Yes. I killed a one-wound Mimring the other day with two spiders on height !!! I love them !

BTW, it is funny that the spiders come with the jungle set since they are better on a terrain with no obstacles around (in order to use their Entangling Web).

Arañas

They work extremely well for me, too. Without Sujoah, they got rid of 6 zombies single handedly, and got Zelrig down to 3 life. With Sujoah, they took out Zetacron, took out all four of the Airborne Elite, and partially wounded Wo-Sa-Ga.

I can't wait to try these guys in multiples. Unfortunately Wave 8 and 8,5 came out just before I left for a year as a foreign exchange student, so I only had a month to play with them. Back then we only had one squad of the Spiders, but we picked up three more TJ's through House Mouse (Thanks Sandra!) and I can't wait to field them all together!

Sujoah is a minor favorite of mine. He has many uses, whether hoping to get that single wound on Q9 and using poison to finish him off, or using his massive movement to close in on a ranged hero like Syvarris, and taking him out quickly.

The spiders? I almost never use them, not even with Sujoah.

I think we need to see more bugs/predators in future releases before they get their fair share of playing time. Not enough choices to bond Sujoah with, nor like species for themed armies.
