The Book of Dash Parr

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - WAITING for Initial

Maybe Elasti-Girl can bond with the family, instead of her “commanding” them? I’m thinking something like Shriek or Hawkeye III. Or even something like Billy Marvel, but limited to Superhuman characters. (I think I like that one the best) That would allow the kids to have the OM reveal restriction while still allowing Helen to deal out some OM flex.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - WAITING for Initial

Flexible Role :p

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - WAITING for Initial

NAME = Elastigirl

SECRET IDENTITY = Helen Parr

SPECIES = Superhuman
UNIQUENESS = Unique Hero
CLASS = Crime Fighter
PERSONALITY = Protective

SIZE/HEIGHT = Medium 5

LIFE = 5

MOVE = 7
RANGE = 2
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = 190

PARENTAL FIGURE
After revealing an Order Marker on this card and before taking a turn with Elastigirl, you may take a turn with a adjacent Small Enthusiastic or Student hero. If a Small Enthusiastic or Student hero is destroyed, you must immediately remove a random Order Marker from this card if possible.

ELASTI-WRAP 12
Friendly figures do not take leaving engagement attacks from opponents' figures that are engaged with Elastigirl. Any time an opponent would begin the movement of an adjacent figure, you may first roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 9 or higher, the figure may not be moved.

STRETCH WALK 25
Instead of her normal move, Elastigirl may use Stretch Walk. Stretch Walk has a move of 3. When counting spaces for Stretch Walk, ignore elevations. Elastigirl may stretch over water without stopping, stretch over figures without becoming engaged and stretch over obstacles such as ruins. Elastigirl may not stretch more than 25 levels up or down with a single stretch. When Elastigirl starts to stretch, she will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

For the discussion this is where I am currently at with Helen. Not really sure how to really tie this faction together but I do have this power on Frozone:
FAMILY FRIEND
After revealing an Order Marker on the Army Card of another Superhuman Hero you control, and taking a turn with that figure, you may immediately take a turn with Frozone. If you do, you may not take any additional turns with other figures you control. Anytime a Superhuman is destroyed within clear sight of Frozone, you may move all unrevealed Order Markers from that Hero's Army Card to this card and immediately use the Ice Slide 4 special power. If you revealed an Order Marker on this card, Frozone may attack with his normal attack up to 2 times at any point before, during, or after his normal move as long as he is on a space where he could end his movement.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - WAITING for Initial

That's like 3 powers in one there. Bonding, OM saving + free move, & then Combat Dexterity.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: 120 felt good, I like the 250 point pod for him and Violet and she certainly feels like the more valuable of the two despite Dash doing more damage most of the time.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: The siblings are a little tricky to manage, sometimes you wanna attack tougher things to try to get another turn and are disappointed when you land one wound. At least in Dash's case, he either gets to give Violet a turn or move a couple spaces himself so he can over extend a bit and then be assured to still get her defensive boost.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - WAITING for Initial

After sleeping on it, even with 3 losses, I am happy with Dash at 120 right now. I don't feel like the loses were his fault and Elastigirl will hopefully draw the faction together better.

I propose we move to public testing (after Bag-Man). If any Allies sign up for Dash, I plan to give them Violet to test with him.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - VOTE for Playtesting

This passes and Bats has already failed at his "not voting" strategy. :p

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Waiting for Playtesting

I'm at least not going to for Final Editing until I finish packing my minis and get my initial done. :p

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Waiting for Playtesting

Wording looks good. I think you could MAYBE cheat and see you use Superspeed first and then can trigger Sibling Rivalry, but I think the intent is clear enough.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Waiting for Playtesting

Yea we can always FAQ that if we think that's an issue.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

@Karat @johnny139 can you take a look at Sibling Rivalry? It's the only new power here and I'd like to update Violet's card to have the correct wording whenever it's ironed out. And this way there won't be any rush when we hit editing and I can get Hellfire going for the Agents of SHIELD release.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

Any particular reason why it says a name instead of calling out the power itself? Not that I'm certain we will reuse it, but it makes it more reusable.

P.S. I fixed you mention for Johnny. Poor johnny was probably wondering for what secrets that he cannot see for which you tagged him :p

....or maybe not seeing as he hasn't been on since November of ' 07 :lol:

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

Well if the power gets reused it should be like Bonds of Marriage and only tie together sets of Siblings not anyone with this power right? Hence the name callouts.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

I mean, could be fun to not, but it could go either way, but other than potentially the name and capitalization it looks good.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

I prefer it being closed off. Don't want Dash to be able to bond with someone much more powerful potentially.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

Are we consciously leaving off the "you may not take a turn with any other figures" language here? I don't think it's a major issue if we ware - neither are particularly powerful - but it is outside of the norm.

I think the wording is pretty solid though, no issues there.

I kinda wanted to leave it off but I can see how that would be a problem for reuses.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

I think leaving it off is fine, especially since I'm not sure n.v if we ever will reuse it.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Honestly, Dash himself isn’t great, as he doesn’t do much. He’s not bad at being a general annoyance but the set-up for that is kinda tricky, as Violet is slow with low range and her aura is small. Mister Incredible is good enough on his own to handle most threats, though. Sibling Rivalry was nice as it allowed Dash to move up, but during the meat of the game I had no reason to activate Dash/Violet as simply attacking with Mister Incredible was the better option (and Violet was targeted first, to remove her defensive boosts).

I don’t think Dash is broken or anything, I’m just worried that Dash isn’t offering much to his faction. I feel like I could have taken someone like Magenta or Kid Flash instead of Dash and had similar/better results. Maybe do full bonding with Violet? I don’t think that would break anything, but it’d make taking turns with the kids a reasonable trade-off for a single attack of 7 from Mister Incredible.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

Thanks for the tests!

Should I have the next playtester test with just straight bonding? I plan to have this power on Elastigirl:
SUPERHUMAN DEVOTION
If a Superhuman you control is destroyed by an opponent's figure, you may place any unrevealed Order Markers from its card on this card and, if Elastigirl is unengaged, you may immediately move her with her Stretch Walk special power. For the rest of the round, when Elastigirl attacks, she may attack one additional time.

Not opposed to straight bonding on the kids, neither of them are very strong.

Re: The Book of Dash Parr - Playtesting

If you're cool with that tweak I think it'd help give the kids more to do. Right now both just kinda sit there to provide defense / block. Spending a turn on 2 attacks of 3 isn't great, but it's definitely handy in a few situations and reliably repositioning them both would also be useful. I just want the faction to feel good and it wasn't quite there yet for me.
