Character Bio - Worshipped as the "God of Evil", Darkseid is the supreme monarch of planet Apokolips, considered as one of Superman's greatest adversaries and the greatest threat to the DC Universe as he seeks to control all living things with the Anti-Life Equation. (ComicVine, 2011)

-Strategy, Tactics and Tips-
  • Omega Effect can destroy multiple-Life heroes in one attack with a roll of 19 or higher.
  • Imposing Presence causes opponents' figures engaged with Darkseid to subtract an attack and defense die. All figures are affected, but those with Range can avoid the penalties and Special Attacks are, as usual, not affected.
  • Parademon Shock Troopers support Darkseid well; their Rule the Skies special power allows him to make multiple attempts with his Omega Effect Special Attack without being engaged easily.

OMEGA EFFECT SPECIAL ATTACK

Range 6. Attack 7.
If Darkseid's Omega Effect Special Attack inflicts at least one wound, you must roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 19 or higher, destroy the defending figure. If the defending figure does not receive any wounds from Omega Effect Special Attack, place one wound marker on this card. No clear line of sight is needed when attacking with Omega Effect Special Attack. Darkseid may not attack adjacent figures with Omega Effect Special Attack.

IMPOSING PRESENCE
Opponent's figures engaged with Darkseid subtract 1 die from their normal Attack number and 1 die from their Defense number, to a minimum of 1 die each.

Excellent Necro. But what does this mean at the bottom?

Figures without any ranged attacks. I'll edit a "Those figures are" into the Imposing Presence bulletin above it.

He subtracts 1 from your normal attack, so there there are lots of "melee" and "non-melee" units with a special attack that cannot be modified by his Imposing Presence.

Yeah, I forgot the special attacks on Hulk/Abom, but the Classic list would be everything without ANY ranged attack (not just Range 1).

You could also put something about the superstrength symbol (that's what GO did for Hawkgirl - you could just copy the text from there).
We don't really list on units with special attacks what sorts of special defensive powers they bypass, do we? That seems like it'd be overkill (just asking before I suggest putting anything down about Man of Steel or Heroic Duty, etc.).

It would be a list of figures without Range or Specials, but that would be too long. Even the multi-life heroes section is too long.

IMO, Omega Beam doesn't need a list because the explanation is so straight forward. However, I think Imposing Prescence line could be reworded. How's this?
Imposing Presence causes opponents' figures engaged with Darkseid to subtract an attack and defense die. As with most powers, this power does not effect Special Powers or Abilites, therefore only those with Range and/or a Special Attack can avoid it at all.

That's not true, though ... you can avoid it by not engaging (turtling), you can avoid it with a special power that's not an attack but has a range like Acid Breath ... technically melee special attacks only avoid the attack penalty and not the defensive one ...

The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Icons set. Its model numbers and name is 043, 044, or 045/Darkseid.

This info belongs directly under the cards in the first post. Use this as an example.

Under Rulings and Clarifications, please add this:
  • The 'S' symbol. The 'S' symbol in the lower left-hand corner of the card signifies this figure has Superstrength. A figure with Superstrength is immune to Falling and Major Falling; the figure is not immune to Extreme Falling, however. A figure with Superstrength is also able to ignore any abilities a destructible object has that would give it automatic shields.

I have a question about Imposing Prescience: Venoc Vipers have a defense of 0. Yet the text on Imposing Prescience sets the minimum defense of opposing figures engaged with Darkseid as 1.

So, does Darkseid actually increase the defense of opposing Venoc Vipers?

Great question, Therion. I'm going to let our resident expert answer this one for you. Bats? 8)

The answer is no, since he's reducing it. You can't reduce 0 and get to 1. If the Vipers had height (and thus 1 defense for height advantage) Darkseid's Imposing Presence would leave their defense at 1.

To answer the question, No.

If you subtract any dice from a figure with Imposing Presence, you cannot force them to roll less than 1 defense die.

Who needs me? :p Great answers, guys. I agree completely.

While he does reduce attack and defense by 1, he also sets a minimum of 1 die for each.

Again, he sets a minimum of 1 die.

RAI, he can't raise their defense.

Exactly - he puts them at the minimum of 1 die as part of the subtraction process. If figures have lower defense, they're not eligible for this process (there's nothing to subtract), so they keep their standard defense.

That's what I expected the response would be. RAI says they get 0 defense. (RAI = Read As Intended.)
