Re: The Book of Cyborg Superman - PREEMPTIVE VOTE FOR PLAYTE
Stop Pre-empting my me time! Post-emptive callout for Pre-emptive Yea to Platesting. (Yes its a word, I just called my friend Webster and had him add it. )
Wow. You did a great job here. Thanks. Your involvement with this is extremely helpful and the entire group appreciates the quality and attention you put into this. Really good job. You had some really great showings and some really poor showings with CS, but hopefully with these tests and the others we have and will have, we can find an appropriate balance in the averages. Thanks again for a job well done.

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Cyborg Superman
- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them. Pass = I think this is a great representation of the character. I especially like how Henshaw’s experience & knowledge from the Birthing Matrix is represented in the Kryptonian DNA special power.
- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game. Pass
- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding. Pass
- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak. Pass – Major ones I found: Ultron’s Program Transimission 20; Luthor’s Red Kryptonite Control; Superman’s Man Of Steel; GLyph of Green Kryptonite
- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any. Pass
- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play. Pass
- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against. Pass
- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting. Pass – In a few one on one tests I ran for fun, Cyborg Superman proved very effective against non-flying Heavy Hitters like Hercules & even Hulk as he was always able to fly just out of their reach while zapping them with his Eye Beams. However, I should add, that in both battles Cyborg Supes was very lucky in those Eye Beam rolls.
- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable. Pass – Over the course of all my tests, I used all of Cyborg Superman’s powers several times. - STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game. Pass – I liked how straight forward this design was & found the prospect of such a heavy hitter with a regenerative power to be intriguing. He was very effective against the Lanterns in my second army test.
Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Pass - What should be the unit's point value? Tough to say based on how this match played out, so I’m okay with 380 but not solidly behind the number yet. - Give a brief overview.Prior to this game, I’d run several one on one tests with Cyborg Superman against other heavy hitters, like Superman, Darkseid, & The Incredible Hulk – C3G version. In of these bouts Cyborg Superman was routed. So, in my first Army Test with him, I thought I’d give him his biggest test yet: Thor. In the end, this game went much faster than I anticipated. Hank Henshaw’s teammate, Gorrilla Grodd, was the star of the match killing Thor on his first turn of the second round. Once that occurred Cyber Superman & Grodd just had to mop up what was left. However, with Grodd doing most of the damage there was little left to test Cyborg Sups who sustained just 2 injuries the entire game, but managed to shake both off with Cybernetic Repair X.
Map:Rocket Launching Platform
Units: Cyborg Superman & Gorilla Grodd (605) VS Thor, Green Arrow [Connor Hawke], & 1 Squad of Civilians (605).
Spoiler Alert!
Round 1: Cyborg Superman was eager to gain height advantage and made his way to the top of the nearest hlll. Thor followed suit (I had run some one on one tests earlier in the day and felt Cyborg Superman had a glass jaw and would fall quickly to a slugger so I wanted Thor to get to him and take him out early). However Gorilla Grodd had the next OM and he rolled a 18 to use his Cognizant Control power on Green Arrow. Connor’s shot at Thor resulted in 3 skulls to Thor’s 1 sheild. Conner then rolled for Piercing Shot and inflicted 1 more wound. Green Arrow now regained control of his faculties and moved to the top of the nearest hill then shot an arrow at Gorilla Grodd for some payback, but missed. Grodd had an OM again and moved closer to get Thor in his sights to try another Cognizant Control trick, but ultimately failed. With the last OM of the round, Connor began to climb up the Rocket Launcher.
Round 2: Thor starts off by moving in to attack Grodd and was able to inflict 2 injuries. Grodd responded by rolling all skulls on all six of his attack dice, while Thor could only muster 1 sheild. These 5 new wounds added to the 3 Thor took from Connor’s arrow killed him. Now being dead Thor could not move on his OM, so Cyborg Superman had the next turn and used it to move to the base of the ladder Green Arrow was on. His attack left Connor with 2 wounds. Connor tried to fight back and was able to inflict 2 wounds on Cyborg Superman. But with the third OM Cyborg Superman rolled 5 skulls to Connor’s 1, and the Green Arrow was dead. Cyborg Superman had the X Marker on his card and Cybernetic Repaired to just 1 wound.
Round 3: With Thor & Green Arrow dead, Grodd & Cyborg Superman spent this round mopping up the Civilians. It was grim, despite the common folk’s best efforts. At the end of this round just one civilian remained and Cyborg Superman Cybernetic Reapaired to full health.
Round 4: In the first OM of the round, Cyborg Superman killed off the last civilian, winning the game for his team.
Who won and how many wounds did they have?Cyborg Superman (0 wounds) & Gorilla Grodd (2 wounds).
Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Pass - What should be the unit's point value? After this test I felt that 380 was a good number for Cyborg Superman. He was never in trouble against the Lanterns and his powers were effective in battle. - Give a brief overview..
Map: Rocket Launcher Platform.
Units: Cyborg Superman, Prof. Zoom, & Bullseye (805) VS GL – John Stewart, GL – Kyle Rayner, & Huntress (810)
Spoiler Alert!
This was a long, fun game. The Green Lanterns held in for a long time before finally being put down. Cyborg Superman was responsible for delivering the death blow to all three of his opponents, however he did have good support from his teammates (Zoom rolled skulls like crazy). Of the games I played with Cyborg Superman this is the one were I saw the most potential in him. He ground away at the two Lanterns, forcing them to use up batteries and become less and less effective, while regenerating any wounds he took. Who won and how many wounds did they have?Round 1: Cyborg Superman’s team won initiative and he moved towards the Rocket Launcher, while John Stewart carried Huntress to the first level of the structure. At the same time Bullseye moved towards a ladder and Kyle Rayner flew to the top of the Rocket Launcher. Huntress then attacked first with her Crossbow Special Attack, having height advantage and being exactly 2 spaces away from Bullseye. Her attack landed two wounds on the sharp shooter. In her automatic reattack, Huntress landed 2 more wounds, leaving Bullseye clinging to life.
Round 2: Cyborg Superman again moved first, getting into engagement with Huntress. He killed her in his first attack. As Huntress had her team’s first OM in hopes of killing Bullseye, this turn was wasted. Instead, Bullseye moved up the ladder. John Stewart then flew to the top of the Rocket Launcher and into engagement with Cyborg Superman who was on the level below. His attack landed 1 wound on the cyborg. Professor Zoom finally got moving and ended up on the first rungs of a lower level ladder. John Stewart then reattacked Cyborg Superman, but landed no wounds thanks to the cyborg’s Kryptonian DNA. With the X Marker, Hank Henshaw regenerated his 1 wound away.
Round 3: John Stewart has first initiative and continued his assault on Cyborg Supes. This attack landed 1 more wound. In return Hank Henshaw rolled 4 skulls, but John Stewart used a battery to deflect it. Kyle Rayner then attacked Cyborg Superman, but his attack was also deflected thanks to Kryptonian DNA. Bullseye was next and he finished climbing the ladder to the second level and shot at John Stewart. He landed 1 wound. John Stewart again attacked Hank Henshaw but whiffed his roll. Finally Professor Zoom took the last turn of the round and moved into engagement with Kyle Rayner. Zoom rolled a perfect 5 skulls, but Kyle used a battery to deflect it. With the X marker, Cyborg Supes again shed the 1 wound he took this round.
Round 4: With OM1, BUllseye climbs to the top of the Rocket Launcher and shoots at Kyle Rayner, but the Lantern blocks it. Then John Stewart again attacks Cyborg Supers but can’t land a wound. In a return attack Cyborg Superman rolls 2 skulls, but John Stewart can’t find a shield, leaving him with 3 wounds of the game. Stewart then attacks Cyborg Supes again, but again can’t land a hit. Cyborg Superman retaliates and rolls 5 skulls, so John is forced to use his second battery marker. In the final move of this round, Kyle attacks Zoom, but can’t land a hit on the speedster. Cyborg Supes again uses his X marker to regenerate the wound he received from Stewart`s Sheild Strike.
Round 5: John Stewart attacks first but cannot land a wound on Cyborg Supes. The crippled Bullseye shots next and rolls 4 skulls in an attack against Kyle, who decides to use up a battery rather then roll for shields. Kyle attacks Zoom, who Speed Dodges the blows, while Cyborg Supes rolls an attack of 4 skulls forcing John Stewart to use another battery rather than risk death. John Stewart finally finishes off Bullseye with his next attack. Then, Professor Zoom attacks and rolls a perfect 5 skulls, forcing Kyle Rayner to use up another battery. Once again, Cyborg Superman ends the round with his X marker.
Round 6: In round 6 the Lanterns took their second casualty. John Stewart was unable to inflict a wound on Cyborg Superman (again thanks to his Kryptonian DNA), but when Supes retaliated the Lantern died. The rest of the round saw Kyle Rayner deflect an attack by Zoom and later Cyborg Superman. However, Professor Zoom did take one wound from an attack by the last remaining Green Lantern.
Round 7: Cyborg Superman flew over and took a swipe at Kyle Rayner that left the Lantern with 2 wounds. Kyle then attacked Zoom, but again Zoom evaded it. In a retaliation, Zoom rolled 3 skulls and Kyle used up his last battery rather than risk death. Kyle did land 1 wound on Zoom in his final attack before Cyborg Superman hit him with 5 skulls.
FYI: I played 5 one on one matches & a one versus squad game before the Army tests to get a feel for Cyborg Superman's powers. Here are the results of those:
One on One: 1)Cyborg Superman vs. Superman (defeated in 2nd round – Superman has 0 wounds) 2) Cyborg Superman vs. Incredible Hulk (defeated in 2nd round – Hulk has 5 wounds) 3) Cyborg Superman vs Darkseid (defeated in 2nd round – Darkseid has 1 wound) 4) Cyborg Superman vs Hercules (won in 2nd round with 0 wounds) 5) Cyborg Superman vs Annihilus (defeated in 3rd round – Annihilus has 6 wounds) In the individual tests, Cyborg Superman had a glass jaw against the other heavy hitters with flight. As he was the only target on the board he often was knocked out of the game without getting to use his Cybernetic Repair X. However, this could be like a Heavyweight fight where a good punch ends what could be a great match before it gets started. In the Army tests, Cyborg Superman held up much better. On the other hand, in one on one battles with ground pounders, Cyborg Superman could use his flight & Eye Beam Special Attack to deadly affect.
One VS Squad: 1) Cyborg Superman vs 3 squads of SHIELD Agents, 1 Sniper, & 1 Spotter (won in 5th round with 0 wounds: took the high ground early and then played wack-a-mole with SHIELD; his eye beams & Kryptonian DNA were very useful here as Cyborg Supes only took one wound the whole game and managed to Regenerate it away). Thanks for the opportunity to try this. I've wanted to give playtesting a go for a while. This is my first attempt at it, so I hope some of the above information is helpful. Please let me know of any ways I could improve/provide more info to LDs.
Correct. There is only one potential second roll of dice equal to the number of skulls initially rolled.

Sure I played this right but wanna make sure.
Eye Beam, you roll 3-3skulls, you reroll 3 dice 2 skulls, the attack ends at this roll, correct? You don't keep rolling until no skulls are rolled, right?

The game ends with the last Kang, now with two Temporal Displacement glyphs on the board, warping back and forth from platform to platform, and using the glyph to move SH into an unfavorable position. Kang destroys SH and Bob. Who won and how many wounds did they have?.Kang wins with one wound remaining.

At one point Hulk was able to break free of Graviton's grasp and engage him, but then whiffed his roll. Spider-Man didn't get to spidey sense the gravity increasing around him, so he never got to do much. Who won and how many wounds did they have?.Team A wins: Penguin with no wounds, Graviton with 3 wounds.
Re: The Book of Cyborg Superman - Final Editing ON HOLD
I started this one a couple of days ago but it's just been a busy time at the moment & I haven't got back to it. It's the comic pic that is taking so long not enough background above his head so I have been trying to make that.
