Basic Card:
Spoiler Alert!

The printer-friendly .pdf version of this card can be found HERE.

The figure used for this unit is a Safari Ltd figure from the Mythical Realms set. Its model # is 801829 and name is Cyclops
The figure fits on a standard or skinny double base.

Figure picture and where to buy:

Promotional Text: The massive cyclops Brontos had been living alone in his cave on Toril for many years, emerging only to sell or trade some wondrous item from his hoard. But Aquilla knew that this lumbering giant could make a powerful champion when the time came for him to use his smith's hammer for war. Brontos is fearsome in battle and will take prisoners!

SPECIAL POWERS
  • EVIL EYE DEFENSE
When rolling defense dice against a normal attack from a non-adjacent attacking figure, all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure.
  • ABDUCT
Before moving Brontos, you may choose a small or medium figure adjacent to Brontos. Brontos does not take leaving engagement attacks from the chosen figure. After you move Brontos, place the chosen figure adjacent to Brontos on an unoccupied land space, if possible. A figure moved by Abduct never takes any leaving engagement attacks. If Brontos attacks this turn, he must attack the Abducted figure.
  • WHOMP!
When attacking with Brontos, each skull rolled counts as one additional hit. All excess shields rolled by the defending figure count as unblockable hits inflicted by the defending figure on Brontos.

Rulings and Clarifications-
  • Q: If Brontos is attacking a figure with counterstrike or any other ability that makes excess shields count as unblockable hits, are the excess shields doubled due to WHOMP?
A: No. The excess shields would only count as 1 hit each. (Source: Heroscape Official FAQ for Ogre Pulverizer)
  • Q: If Brontos attacks a Warrior of Ashra, for Defensive Agility do all shields rolled after the first count as unblockable wounds on Brontos?
    A: Yes
  • Q: What happens if there is no legal space to place the figure chosen by Abduct?
A: The figure is not moved. However, since that figure was chosen, it was not allowed to make a leaving engagement attack against Brontos, even though that figure was not moved.
  • Q: Can Brontos choose a figure affected by Cyberclaw to Abduct?
A: Yes, but the figure is not moved when Brontos finishes his movement. However, because Brontos chose that figure to Abduct, it cannot make a leaving engagement attack against Brontos

The C3V Rules Team would like to add the following R&Cs:
Q: What happens if there is no legal space to place the figure chosen by Abduct?
A: The figure is not moved.
However, since that figure was chosen, it was not allowed to make a leaving engagement attack against Brontos, even though that figure was not moved.

Q: Can Brontos choose a figure affected by Cyberclaw to Abduct?
A: Yes, but the figure is not moved when Brontos finishes his movement.
However, because Brontos chose that figure to Abduct, it cannot make a leaving engagement attack against Brontos.

Just wanted to double check on this. If Brontos attacks a figure with counter strike does each additional shield count for two hits or one? The advanced FAQ for Ogre Pulverizer says it only counts as one, so I'm assuming it's the same case here?

I'm not seeing that for the Ogre, it's wording is that any shields rolled that are more than skulls (say the Ogre rolls 2 skulls and the defender rolls 4 shields), those shields count as wounds inflicted (so in this case 2 wounds), should be the same here.

It's not in the rulings and clarifications part of the book for the ogre, it's in the advanced FAQ pdf that has some additional rulings for the game. Here's a link to that.

Brontos wounds = Opponent's :shield: - (2x Brontos :skull:)
If opponent has counter strike, then yes you would do that twice, as basically Brontos is giving opponent counter strike so if they already have it it would double it up.

Man, props to the team that designed and tested this figure. He’s a blast to play. He has deadly strike so he can really hit hard but if he whiffs he faces counter strike. He has Evil Eye but only 3 defense so opponent’s are more apt to take some shots at him. Abduct is super fun (and funny, the scenarios that pop in your head of him stealing figures which are enhanced by his crazy size) and strategic, and having 6 move with it is nice. And having 9 life means you can take a lot of risks and see if they pay off.

Competitive wise I think he’s just pretty good. But fun wise he is top tier.

Just picked this big boi up. A hat tip to whoever selected this Safari model. I attached him to an old Mimring base and he legitimately looks like an original Hasbro unit! :)

Differences between text transcript and army card:

  • EVIL EYE DEFENSE

  • ABDUCT

After you move Brontos, place the chosen figure adjacent to Brontos on an unoccupied land space, if possible. A figure moved by Brontos Abduct never takes any leaving engagement attacks. If Brontos attacks this turn, he must attack the Abducted figure.
  • WHOMP!
When attacking with Brontos, [comma] each skull rolled counts for as one additional hit. All excess shields rolled by the defending figure count as unblockable hits inflicted by the defending figure on Brontos.
