The Book of Bob

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Vote for Initial)

Nah, I would drop Tough first. Only activating two at a time drifts away from the theme of them as a group. I would have preferred them as a squad. :)

Fair enough...the way they are they are a Unique Squad for all intensive purposes...including the reduced value per OM as they get knocked off. You'd never take just 2 or 3 and they all take a turn with each OM. If my research is correct they did only have the one story so it's not like they need to be more than the squad they are.

My initial thoughts were just at getting more dino's to be used for later...

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Vote for Initial)

Are we still voting for Initial Playtesting here? Is looks like Tornado's already well under way with the Initial.

In that case why did we move away from that? You fold too easily - no one was really saying they couldn't work as a squad, and I'm still cool with that direction if that's what you want. (I'd like to see more Unique Squads too).

He dropped it for the other power not tough..."too tough to die" was the troublesome power..not Tough.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

:hijacked: Apologies, but I wanted you to know that Satanus hit the table for the first time with my group about a month ago and he hasn't stopped since. They LOVE the idea of a T-Rex on the battlefield! Don't assume that just because the competitive people don't like a design that the general public feels the same, OK?

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

The competitive people DO like Satanus. It's just Tornado that tries to talk him down.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Tornado's issue seems to be that he doesn't really have synergy...
Admittedly, that does make it difficult for him to the the battlefield, but you can say that for any Event Hero, he's been awesome when I have used him and building up a Dinosaur faction could fix that easily.
There isn't an issue with Satanus.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: 220-250. Hard to say. They are more swingy than I anticipated. They can really chew through the opposition but can also get picked apart. One of the hardest parts is getting them to fit on the map especially if you trying to gang them up on a figure. Clever placement by your opponent can leave them in a bad position or out of the fray completely.

I really like Ringo's extra Move. This came into play a few times, allowing him to get to where the others simply cannot. I also had pretty good luck on dice rolls with him so that helped.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: They are really fun and removing the heads when they get wounded was kind of awesome. My dice were all over the place so it leaves me a bit uncertain where to go with them. I am thinking maybe 220 for Public testing.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

220 seems like a reasonable starting point for Public Playtesting. You ran a ton of games, so we've got lots of data to crunch. I can imagine map positioning being difficult for them, which is why I'd lean on the lower end of your spectrum to start.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Yeah, if their large mini size/shape and double base is limiting their ability to cash in on the 4 attacks per turn then that should be reflected in their price. I'd start at 220 and raise it if more testing shows it's needed rather then start higher than that.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Win/Loss summary

200 1-0
205 0-2 one was super close, last wound
210 0-1 super close, last wound
220 3-0 though should have been 2-1 and Cap and Bucky won one solo
235 2-0 really bad rolls for the other team. Magneto is a solid counter to them.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Maybe drop the defense down to 4 before you sent them out for public testing. Tough with 5 defense is pretty hardy.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

I could see taking their defense down a hair and going out at the low end of their spectrum (210-220), or keeping everything as-is and going a little higher (230-240).

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Their Defense is 4, except Bob at 5.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

So drop Bob to 4, and the others down to 3.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

How about 4 for the T-REX and 3 for the other 2?

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

I don't know which ones are which, but basing the base defense on the type of dinosaur sounds good to me.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Bob & Carol are T-Rex, Ted an Allosaur and Ringo something I cannot spell without looking it up.

Anyone else want to weigh in here? :)

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

OK, trying to summarize results here. They lost twice at 205 and once at 210.
They won at 200, then twice at 220 (throwing out the one where they were never used), then split at 235.
When they win it seems like they win bigger than when they lose, so I'd trend towards the upper end of where you tested them at.
4-4 overall record. I think I'd try 230 for public testing.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

230 as-is?
I was leaning closer to 240.
Kind of torn here. I want to keep their price down. If they creep to 250 then, with Satanus, the Dinos are at 600 which does not leave much room for anything else.

Maybe I will try a few tests with the lowered Defense.

Re: The Book of Bob & Carol & Ted & Ringo (Initial Playtest)

Nobody is going to stop you from running extra tests, but I think it would be safe to send them into public testing with lower defense at 220 or 210 since you want to keep them down. The perspective of other testers is often more valuable than your own after you've already run so many games.
