Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

NAME = BATMAN
SECRET IDENTITY = BRUCE WAYNE

SPECIES = HUMAN
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = INTERLOPER
PERSONALITY = DRIVEN

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 4

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 5
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = 220

ESSENTIAL UTILITIES
At the start of the game, place the Glyphs of Bat-Grapple and Bat Shuriken on this card. Batman can equip a Utility Equipment Glyph even if there is another Utility Equipment Glyph on this card, up to a maximum of 2. Batman cannot lose these glyphs by receiving wounds unless he is destroyed.

OUTSIDERS OPERATIONS PROTOCOL
After revealing a numbered Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with Batman, you may choose up to two Unique Interloper Heroes you control, at least one of which has not been chosen for this special power previously this round. Take a turn with each chosen Hero. Batman may be one of the chosen Heroes.

MISSION PREP
Once per player turn, before rolling attack or defense dice for a figure you control, you may reveal an Order Marker on this card. For the rest of that player turn, you may add 1 to the Attack and Defense numbers of all figures you control.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

OK, decided to run this in the public since there's no obvious release place for it right now and I'd love to uplift the Interlopers faction. Also, there's nothing in the works in the Sanctum for Interlopers right now, so anything he'd work well with is already public.

One major thing that's up in the air is mini.

Really hoping to keep the 220 cost for army building purposes, but open to tweaking anything else as needed.

Looks good. A few early tweaks to hopefully save time later :lol:

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

Cool. :up: Since that doesn't affect mechanics at all and it's easy to let these things slip, I'm going to make these updates now!

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

I love how dramatic Batman is in that first comic panel. :lol:

This one was workshopped pretty thoroughly, I’m happy with it. Will be fun to have another option for the Interlopers.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

:lol: Yeah that's the classic cover for it. They wouldn't rescue Lucius, so he's pissed. I figured even if it doesn't make it to the card, it's a nice thing to have in the thread for backstory.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

Mission Prep is cool.

Yeah, seems pretty reusable since we didn't attach any classes to it. Definitely something I could see on a GI Joe write up, for instance.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

Seems a bit redundant with Geo-force, who has the same ability but with a restriction. But maybe that works well so the opponent takes out Batman first, then your OMs go to Geo-Force as the contingency. Interesting.

Mission Prep doesn't quite seem like the right name for that ability in my opinion. He's using tactics multiple times throughout the battle, Mission Prep to me, implies a one time bonus at the beginning of the game? Minor point though!

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

The idea behind Mission Prep is that a situation comes up and they were prepared for it so they're ready to react according to plan. Mechanically it falls in line with the way Secret Attack Plan and Attack Plan work.

I'd say he's definitely complementary to Geo-Force, not redundant. Geo's leadership is more powerful, but only triggers when someone's destroyed. This means that right now the Interlopers only have good turn efficiency right after they lose someone. Giving them a leader to lead from the front initially and then having Geo as the back up leader when you start taking people out offers the faction some balance.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

I like it.

Mission Prep probably needs a once per player turn limit? Like it does cost OMs which is a big deal but there are fairly easy ways to turn it into +3 attack for a bunch of people in the right build, which is scary. And like he's already offering fairly meaty bonding (though for a tiny faction) and some other goodies so I don't think he really needs a window for weird combo builds.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

Hah, bring Punisher along just to cheese Mission Prep. :lol:

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

I’m fine making it once per player turn. Wouldn’t want to use it for more anyhow.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

I think the go to move would be like... Black Mask II, Hired Guns, a Criminal/Crime Lord that likes attack boosts.

So like the Hired Guns get 1 attack of 4 and 5 and then 6 attacks of 6 then you get whatever the Criminal / Crime Lord gives you. Probably worth the 2 turn trade off. :lol:

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

Yeah, nothing I want to mess around with. :p

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

New Batman design! Best allies: Black Mask and a bunch of criminals.

So bats is on the front line and Geo is hanging out in the bat cave waiting for something bad to happen. Seems like we got it backwards.

I do like this design however.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Breathing

When Batman is with the Outsiders, he’s pretty hands on as a leader. I don’t think Geo would try to call the shots over him.

Re: The Book of Batman (Outsiders) - Design

SP updated with the once per player turn restriction on Mission Prep.
