The Book of Azurite Warlord
C3V Promotional Figure #1 - Warlord's Wrath

Spoiler Alert!

The figure used for this unit is from the World of Warcraft line (Slitherblade Tidehunter).

Character Bio: Slithering onto tournament prize tables across the country just in time for National Heroscape Day, the Azurite Warlord is the C3V's first figure exclusive. With beefy stats, he can be a heavy hitter for your viper army or an assassin to go after those high-priority targets. This warlord isn't afraid to accept a little pain for a stronger attack.

FURIOUS WRATH 3
When Azurite Warlord attacks, you may add 3 to his Attack number. If you do, at the end of Azurite Warlord's turn place 1 wound marker on Azurite Warlord's Army Card.

SLITHER
Azurite Warlord does not have to stop his movement when entering water spaces.

Well met!

On Wednesday, 11/6, the Gang of Four (at least 3 at Noon, all 4 by the late afternoon/early evening) will gather at chas' Game Palace for a day of 'Scape. The featured scenario is THE HILLS ARE ALIVE! A Halloween Heroscape Scenario, devised by chas, to ensure that he is on the winning side for a change.

Spoiler Alert!

Having just sent my check off to nyys, I'll be fielding

150 Cathars x 2
150 Romans x 3
145 Azure Warlord
100 Marcus
550, 22 spaces

[This will undoubtedly be one of the first appearances of the Azure Warlord (post-release) in a game.]

while Sherman will be fielding

Spoiler Alert!

Of course, the usual Battle Report, with pictures, will be forthcoming!

I think it might be a good idea to avoid using Furious Wrath, and just use this snakey fellow as a tank. Even with that low defense, 8 life is still pretty great.

Furious Wrath is brutal on heroes though. Take Kaemon Awa for example: If you are using Armocs and attacking Kaemon on even ground, you do 2.7 wounds without Furious Wrath, and 4.0 with it.

Is that including the wound you inflict on yourself? ;)

This seems extremely fun, incorporating one of my favorite squads (Roman Legionaries) with one of my favorite heroes (Van Nessing) and rounding out nicely.

Romans x3 150
Marcus Decimus Gallus 250
Azurite Warlord 395
Van Nessing 500

I'd play this in a tournament. As a matter of fact I'm hosting one in a couple of weeks... if only I had the Azure Warlord. I'll just have to wait till the after-Christmas tournament... But then I'll be torn between Wolves, Cathars, AND this army. Oh well.

Romans would be the bread and butter, whereas the Azurite Warlord would go after any heavy hitters or troublemakers (Major, Dragon, etc.). Van Nessing could provide the much-needed ranged support and heavy hit a bit himself. If in a 510 format, you could swap him for the Airborne and come out with a 505 point total.

EW9, thinking wishfully.

Honestly, I feel like any army that uses this guy and the Lego's would be deadly, I'd say you still need range support, maybe Krav?

Here it is!

I went 5-3 at our local tourney, in which we did Rolling Rumble. 480 pts and 16 figure limit.

My build:
Venoc Warlord
Azurite Warlord
Armoc Vipers x3
Isamu
Otonashi

Azurite Warlord is an absolute beast. I played him extremely aggressively and absolutely loved it. He was up in the face of almost everyone's main figure. Only thing that stopped him as 2 Q9s; one behind a rat screen (that I was hacking apart anyway until right near the end) and another when Azur whiffed twice in a row with 7 attack dice on the Q9. O_O Azzy did have trouble against Mok too, but managed to cause 3 wounds.

Azur decimated the likes of 2 Tor-Kul-Nas, Charos, Raelin, and Incendiborgs. Venoc Warlod backed by remaining Armocs did a great job cleaning up afterwards, as those armies fell fell apart once the main force was gone.

Two of the losses were close, the third one wasn't (since it was where Azzy whifffed twice).

Still, it was an absolutely amazing and terrifying sight to see Azur tear through the enemy's tanks. He was like the USA tanks against the Iraq's tanks in the Gulf Wars; fast, deadly, and unstoppable. It was a deadly beautiful thing to watch.

The Viper King is pleased.

Well, I'm keeping him on his current base, so I'm all good anyway. ^_^

Srsly? :puke:

That base is stupidly large. 3rd worst bases of HS-sized figures, after Dreamblade and Sabretooth. But, hey, if it's working for ya ...

Seeing this build I don't think this Warlord will bring back Armocs on the competitive scene.

With Romans it's very scary tho. He helps a lot against most of their counters.

Real war is not really a beautifull thing to watch in my opinion...
But everyone have his own tastes I guess...

It was a special I watched on History Channel about how US adapted Rommel's tank tactics from WWII and put them to use against the Iraqis. It was cool to watch Azzy follow the same pattern.

Azzy does make the Armocs stronger though.

so does q9 actually beat him, or was it just bad luck?

Bad luck on my part, Azzy took took 2 wounds to himself, and them wouldn't roll defense. Armocs swarmed him like crazy and actually did a wound, but it was just a slow death... :|

you can never have enough snakes so that is awesome, GO Ullar! I still am not a fan of the damage your self guys, but I can see it as an over extend and that makes sense.
