The Book of Armor

Re: The Book of Armor - Playtesting

She looks good at 90 points.

I propose we move to Final Editing at 90 points.

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

Not sure why Magma w/ 3 wounds is taking a LEA off of a lava tile?

but yea to editing

MUTANT SIDEKICK
After revealing an Order Marker on a Unique Mutant Hero's card you control and taking a turn with that Mutant, if Armor is within 6 clear sight spaces of that Mutant, you may take an immediate turn with Armor. You may not take any additional turns with other Sidekicks you control.

PSIONIC ARMOR
When Armor defends against an attack, each shield rollsed counts for an additional block, unless the attacking figure is a Telepath or has the Sensory Assault special power. Armor's Defense number cannot be reduced by any special power.

SUPERSTRENGTH

Maybe he had placed the lava tile away from her and was engaged prior to getting onto it and took a risk of leaving engagement to get on the lava tile to attack figuring that her normal attack wouldn't do anything and she'd die the next turn anyway

YEA to final editing. Looks good! :D

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

Quite the beat down the mutants took in game 2, ouch!

Yea for editing

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

Down to Griffin and Bats (if he's back)

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

I kind of feel like Armor is worth 100 ...

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

Would you like to expand on that. I have always trusted yours and Griffins analysis of playtests. It's an area I feel I have plenty of room to improve on. Also johnny still hasn't turned in his playtest so if you would like, we can wait for that to have even more data.

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

Sorry ... just an initial impression based on cursory reading. Unfortunately, I really haven't had the time to fully read the tests yet. I'll try to get it tonight, but I'm still behind about 40 threads, so it could take a bit!

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

No problem. I do value your opinion here so I'm OK with waiting.

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

OK, read through things again and I could see 90-100, but I'd lean towards 100 personally, even though the testers waffled between 90 and 100, because it seemed like her team had the edge in a number of the battles. They seemed to mostly lose close and win running away, which usually tells me a unit should be on the higher end of things rather than the lower end. I'd vote for 90 or 100, but I want to make sure you want to go 90 for sure before I vote, because I do think 100 is worth seriously considering based on the results.

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing!

I think Bats has some good points. I didn't consider the margin of victory, just the fact that she won or lost.

I want to wait for johnny's test (I just remembered I told him I would wait till Friday) so I'm gonna cancel the proposal for now.

Re: The Book of Armor - Playtesting

Cool. She just seems really tough ... like she adds significantly more value to Wolverine, for instance, than Jubilee (who falls a lot more easily) does. Though I suppose I should be comparing what she offers to what Angel and Dazzler do more than Jubilee, since 90 and 100 are both a lot higher than 60.

Tests done on Dark Dimension, which is TECHNICALLY not released yet, but I figure you'd rather have the tests now than wait a day or two for it to pass. :D

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Armor

- THEME TEST
/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
PASS (I don't really see her as a Sidekick thematically, but it works mechanically. One thing I'd like to see is Lava Resistance in her armor power, or even as a vanilla power. I recall reading that she survived a fall through the atmosphere, which is about 2300 degrees. Molten magma is between 1300 and 2400, wading through lava shouldn't bother her at all.

Also, I haven't read much of anything with her, but she never struck me as Insecure. She always seemed Enthusiastic to me - very excited about being an X-Man.)

- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
PASS

- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
PASS

- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak.
PASS

- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
PASS

- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
PASS

- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.
PASS

- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting.
PASS

- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable.
PASS

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game.
PASS

Army Test
- Does it pass
, Yes or No? YES!
- What should be the unit's point value? 100 POINTS
- Give a brief summary. WOW. That was a real blitz. Terrible luck on both sides, making things more or less even, but even so there was a marked advantage for the X-Men. I'd give her a minor boost - 100 feels better based on this test. I mean, she was able to handle Toad without any real trouble at all, and Destiny was just gravy.
Map: Dark Dimension
Units: Armor, Cyclops, Jubilee, Psylocke (590 Points) vs. Avalanche, Destiny, Blob, Toad, Pyro (580 Points)
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
- Does it pass
, Yes or No? YES!
- What should be the unit's point value? 80-90 POINTS
- Give a brief summary. Alright, that went TERRIBLY for the X-Men. Really got wrecked early on due to some tremendous Skrull rolls. I admit, it wasn't the best map or build for Professor X, but... still. A real steamroll. Armor was able to keep pace, though - she killed one Skrull Warrior and could have easily killed another two if it wasn't for bad rolls both offensive and defensive. She she was a bit of an under-performer, but just barely.
Map: Dark Dimension
Units: Armor, Professor X, Gambit, Rogue, Quicksilver (1035 Points) vs. Super-Skrull: Kl'rt, Skrull Warriors x6.5 (1055 Points)
Spoiler Alert!

FINAL THOUGHTS: She can be great, as in the first match, where she went above and beyond by 10-20 points, but also do pretty poorly, as in the second, where she was behind by the same amount. So, logically, 90 is right in the middle - it looks good to me. I feel like she might be able to go up to 100 or so if other tests recommend it - it was some REALLY poor luck on the second match.

Yea, I think she'll end up at 100 points. It was kinda borderline and I was already leaning towards it so thanks for the tests. And no big deal on the map, it's not like it's still having tons of changes made to it. Thanks for getting this in and a Happy New Year to you!

Re: The Book of Armor - VOTE for Final Editing

I propose we move to Armor to Final Editing at 100 points.
