Super Hero City AKA Japes's Custom Crap

Re: Super Hero City

Organizing some photo's recently and found some good Halloween photos and after seeing ibechief's card of his son I found inspiration...though I cheated and used existing character stats...we do have plans for an original character at some point.

My wife made the Robin costume last minute and her sister made the awesome Woverine costume because we couldn't find a BROWN wolvie and he wanted to be the BROWN wolvie.

PS she is a costume builder in Orlando if anyone ever needs something created.

You can't tell but in both the Robin and the Batman costumes he was wearing Batman Crocks...

If I can find better photos I plan on doing the costumes my wife and I wore this year to a party...I was Gambit and she was Rogue. And it was HER idea, how awesome.

I love the family cards!

I figured you would since it was you that gave me the idea.

Ever since he was shown the cards he had been trying to develop an original super hero. We now spend our car ride to school in the morning trying to decide his powers, name, and costume...it changes quite often but he had decided he definately wants Super Strength so he can knock people back off of the buildings.

Re: Super Hero City

Thanks Yodaking, to be honest I have built anything in awhile. I need to get back on it and finish up what's printed. I've been busy interviewing and contemplating moving several states west.

I have been assembling some new artscow decks with the newest releases to continue as well as some random "dinosaur" and other animal cards for a savage lands battle I have planned.

Have you checked out this dinosaur?

Love those custom cards. Fun incarnate.

Re: Super Hero City

Yes I have and so far I like it a lot in our goofing around.

It was great to have a fully tested baseline to play with. We make them essentially NPC and roll to see who gets to take a turn with him at the end of each round.

I can't wait until you get him finished..

Re: Super Hero City

Japes, if you like TMNT, click the link in my sig. B & K's customs are cool, but I think you will be interested in what we are about to "shell" out. Really nice buildings, I must say...

Re: Super Hero City

Wow. I just stumbled onto this thread and your work is inspiring. I love the custom cards with your son's picture. (I assume it's your son.)

Keep up the great work!

Yes it is my son but I can't take complete credit for the idea. I had thought about making a card for my son but really got pushed to act on it by ibeChief and the card he made for his son LoganThor. My son is only 5 but he has chosen a superhero theme every year for Halloween. Robin, Batman, Leonardo (TMNT) and Wolverine. Last year he had a Super Hero Training birthday party. All his friends came in costume and my wife and I were Rogue and Gambit (her idea btw), the instructors at the super hero training school.

Thanks for the kind words. I have read a lot of your post and I appretiate and respect your praise greatly.

Re: Super Hero City

That sounds fun. (for a 5 year old of course, we MATURE PEOPLE would have NO interest in something so fun. Did I say fun?)

Re: Super Hero City

 There's no greater reward for creators than passing on what they've done to others who can use their stuff also. Which, it seems to me, is the whole point of this site. Long live Scape!

I have received more from this site than I can ever hope to return so I appreciate the recognition of what I am attempting.

Re: Super Hero City

The TMNT card looks slick. The color coded dice are cool (all your stuff is); I did something similar by creating sticker print outs of skulls and shields, cut them out, and stuck them on the dice. Nice work!

Re: Super Hero City

Painted a few extra grass and water tiles...by adding two singles and one 7-hex grass to the Marvel asphalt we have the same number of tiles to use the asphalt for lava field and 11 water tiles turned red makes a full V. Wasteland terrain set.

I intentionally over sprayed some black over my molten lava tiles to give it more of a textured look.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to japes again.

Re: Super Hero City

Just made a purchase at trollandtoad after Christmas and wanted to pass along that the shipment was very fast and perfect. My only complaint was that they were sold out of a few character that we wanted so If anyone wants to give me a birthday gift (end of January) I will accept cash or Clix...

Cheetah
Wonder Girl
Wonder Girl Cassie
any Beast Boy animals...

I would also like to eventually rebase my clix so any bases/stickers you care to send my way...

and a bunch of glyph tiles...the standard maroon ones...

Or a few of Yodakings Custom Sentinels

Even though I've mostly moved my purchasing over to Coolstuffinc so I can buy board games in the same order, I've spent lots of money at TrollandToad and have been very pleased with them overall.

Re: Super Hero City

I've ordered from TrollandToad and Strikezoneonline and have not had issue with either. SZ has better prices even though I have to pay taxes b/c I live in Texas but if I do a large order like I did this time the super low $2.99 shipping eventually tips the price in their favor.

Re: Super Hero City

The figure cards look great! Did you make those? Are they shared? Link please :)

Re: Super Hero City

Very cool! :) If I were a wealthy man, I'd bribe you to make me one of those. :-D

Thanks. Yes I did make them. I wanted them to look as much as possible like the official C3G cards. I have about 300 or so completed and 234 of them have been created at printerstudio.com nearly the same quality as artscow but with larger deck sizes available they come out a ton cheaper.

Maybe someday I will be able to release them but right now I will need to check out issue with the font I used. I also have only done the comic versions with the exception of the Hasbro Original figures.

One think I did want to mention is that for the far outside border of my Uncommon Heroes I use different colors that match up to coloring I add to the bases of the uncommons. I make 5 of each plus the original. The cards are made but technically I have only done this for the two Doombots I have. They both came with a yellow ring but a Sharpie turned one of them Red. I also used a Sharpie on two of my Mysterio figures to differentiat the Holographs from the real one since I am not skilled in painting and too chicken to try to put the wash on them like the official.
