Re: Sir Heroscape's Battle Reports - YouTube Channel

Amazing battle! I thought you were screwed from the start, but it seems I have underestimated the Cutters. They really made it hard for the Knights. And what a finish from Q10!

Re: Sir Heroscape's Battle Reports - YouTube Channel

So how did your team do in the tournament? Did you stay with it or change it up?

I kept it. I went 2-2 but was one dice roll away from the championship. I won my first two games against really good players and on my 3rd game I faced my cousin Saints_Wrath and he was running the Knights again just like in the video. The game was intense, both of us undefeated, winner goes to the championship game and we both had already played against each other's armies. I was smacking him with scurrying goblins the whole game just like the video but a timely Dispatch with 5 symbols sent his knights rocketing in past my defenses to catch an unsuspecting Q10. Q10 fell after a couple turns and that was the shift he needed. I cleaned him up and it was 3 Cutters vs 2life Gilbert and 3 Knights. Time was already called, it was the last turn of the round on the last attack. I surrounded Gilbert, lowering his defense rolled 2/2 skulls so he's just rolling 2 defense. A blank wins it for me, a shield wins it for him...and he rolled 2!! So the game literally game down to the last attack. Had I won I would have gone to the championship game and faces 4th Mass who suck against Cutters. As for my last game I lost that one due to an army with a perfect counter to mine (all special attack figures), and some bad dice. What started out strong, Fizzled at the end...but all fun and exciting games.

Do you have any more Arena vs Scape battles coming? And how about the "Five Card Stud" battle I mentioned awhile ago?

Re: Sir Heroscape's Battle Reports - YouTube Channel

Here's a battle suggestion. The battle of Marr. Three players. One person controls the Marro, one controls the Vipers and the last person controls the Primadons. Point values are up to you. The map should be a swamp/jungle based map, and custom units are obviously permitted. How you design the map is up to you too.

Ooo...I really like that idea! I think I'll put that on the list for sure

I think this needs to be a 4 player game with the raptorians being represented as well.

Re: Sir Heroscape's Battle Reports - YouTube Channel

I know you've created a ton of videos, but somehow I've never actually tuned in. Just watched my first one a bit ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! I really like the editing. It speeds the game up and really makes it watchable. Very nicely done!

The one I watched was the totally random armies on the shrine map. I noticed a rule difference in leaving engagements in how it would be played at my house. Towards the end (at 19:55) when you moved Charos over the WL, you rolled for leaving engagement. Was there a figure I couldn't see? Or did you roll because he flew over the WL?

I never would have considered that leaving engagement. The rules about leaving an engagement are that it occurs "as soon as you move away from [a figure that you're engaged with] (onto a space that's not adjacent to it)". Neither of those are true. It is not moving away. It is not moving onto a space that's not adjacent to it.

Is there something I'm missing and have been playing that wrong? Or a mistake in your game?

(Also, just a tidbit... You are free to call him what you want and pronunciations are really debatable in Heroscape, but Charos was intended to be "Car-os". It's apparently one of the few pronunciations Hasbro actually commented on.)

Great video! I will be checking out more. Thanks!

Re: Sir Heroscape's Battle Reports - YouTube Channel

They played that right. If you start flying while engaged with another figure, you immediately take a leaving engagement attack, even if you stay on/above the spaces next to that figure for your whole movement.

Oh, and I still say Charos like Sir Heroscape does. Can't break my habit.

Wow. We've been playing it wrong then. That seems really crazy and is contradictory to what the rulebook says in leaving engagement section. I don't mean to be "that guy", but is there a section in the rulebook that covers this exception?

Thanks!

Re: Sir Heroscape's Battle Reports - YouTube Channel

Ok nevermind. This makes more sense the more I think about it. It must have been included in an FAQ or something for clarity on special powers.

Anytime Flying is used, it must trigger leaving an engagement to keep the rules straight forward. If, for example, the figure you're engaged to was standing directly under a 1 hex wide bridge and you flew over it to the other side of that figure, you would thematically be disengaging since there is a bridge between you during that movement. Since flying can take you as high as you want to go, the only way to keep it streamlined is to say: if you fly, you leave engagement.

Don't want to devolve this thread into a rules discussion. I get it. Thanks for the help!
