A double Snow Fields map, marking my first map using only Renegade terrain.

My next map was inspired by the orange bushes in the Swamps of Valhalla set. I think they look beautiful with lava. New set combinations continue to intrigue me.

My second map is another attempt at providing more terrain combinations using Lands of Valhalla. The concept for this map is a raised center wilting away with perfect visual layering, one terrain type per layer. This was a challenging set combination due to very limited Line of Sight blockers and lots of 2-hex pieces.

This is my first time making a map in over a decade. It is my first real attempt to understand and implement modern map-making techniques. Thank you for those who have provided feedback now and to everyone who plays on this map going forward. For this map, I wanted to explore two concepts: make a map with Lands of Valhalla, and play with interaction between Wellspring Water and Road.

I'm back! After over ten years, I have decided to try my hand at making maps again, this time, learning and applying modern tournament map principles. I do have an old map thread, and looking back, I would rather it stay in the past. With the strong resurgence of the Heroscape scene, I hope to learn to be a good mapmaker and build interesting maps for everyone to use at their events.

Feedback is always welcome. Thank you for taking the time to check out my creations, and I hope you enjoy them!

Great news! I've figured out how to make much better image renders. I've updated my first map, Deposit, with beautiful new artwork, as well as a couple of small build adjustments to help de-pinch the middle of the map. Enjoy!

That looks great. What is your process?
Thank you! For the image renders, there has been a number of posts over the years about how newer computers don't click with the graphics Virtualscape was ideal for back in the day. What I had to do to solve this problem was:
  1. Identify my computer graphics. I have a 2023 gaming laptop that runs on NVIDIA, so from there I figured there is no way it can't do these renders.
  2. Digging in, NVIDIA has an app that updates its drivers, but the one installed on my computer was an old version that wouldn't open. I went directly to NVIDIA's website to get a new version.
  3. Using this new app, I updated my graphics drivers, but it still didn't work. Some folks recommended using compatibility mode through Windows settings, but that didn't work either.
  4. The end solution was going into my system settings and changing Virtualscape to open specifically with NVIDIA graphics. Turns out, my computer also has integrated Intel graphics, and it considered Virtualscape to not be a "high performance program," so it was defaulting to that option.
Hope that helped!

Deposit has been very well received so far across two events. I am proud of what I have made and have taken a crack at some more. Please enjoy my second map, Crust!

Cool looking map! Are you intending for the Destructible Wall Sections to be in play?
Thank you! The walls are meant to be filled in, but not destroyable. I need to do some research on other maps using them so I can add the proper clarity to the PDF.
