Re-introduction Thread

What's up gang, I'm back too. I pretty much fell off the game when I went off to college in 2012, popped back in briefly back in 2019, and now Renegade pulled me back in! I reference CoN a lot for not having been on these forums for over a decade.

Putting things in perspective for those that remember me, I was at my peak here when I was 15-17, and I'm 30 now. I like to think I've gotten better, but time will tell! I have a few members in my head that I'm wondering if they're still around, but that seems like a different thread.

I'm back, now with three daughters 10 and under. Don't know how much I'll post, but I'm excited to keep up with what is going on in this new era of HS!

Hey everyone -

Like most others I read in this thread, with the new sets and everything back, figured I'd go for a bit to stroll down memory lane. Last time I was on this site I was maybe 15 and couldn't have told you what beer tasted like or what it was like to rent a car. Ended up almost 30 now in Chicago working a regular office job for someone more wealthy than I. Don't really play the tuba anymore - HOA isn't a big fan.

All that to say, if we ever chatted back in the day and you see this please send me a message or something if you want to catch up. Or if you're in the Chicago area and would want to actually play Heroscape sometime reach out and would be happy to meet.

Lastly but most importantly, I disclaim any posts my old self made.

Wow. Happy to see my account is still live. The D&D master set was the last ‘Scape I had bought until now. My adult sons are coming over today and I’m breaking out all this new stuff I have. I’ve got to do a lot of digging to find my old stuff. It’s gotten scattered over the years. But I at least found a couple of original master set and marro masters sets worth of figures and cards so we aren’t stuck to only playing the new stuff.

My kids have good memories of playing heroscape so they’re both looking forward to today. I think they both want to scavenge some of these spare master set minis I have. Good thing I hoarded all this heroscape stuff and never let it go.

If I can find everything, I should have at least one of EVERYTHING up until the D&D waves. I even have a couple of oddball items. I’ve got. Toys ‘R Us shelf display. I also have some of the prototype terrain they used for marketing photos. Ever remember seeing some old photos of the game and it showed this orange colored terrain? I should have a few pieces of that somewhere. Was digging around last night and actually found a box I forgot I owned. I wanted to get into creating custom figures (I really really wanted to do some Halo stuff). At one time, I had bought out a guy who was stopping his custom mini creations. So I have a whole bag full of original mini bases (with stickers removed) and a whole sheet of stickers to go on them.

Now I just have to FIND everything. Would you there’s some gems in here. One of my finds last night was a sealed Swarm of the Marro. Like why do I have that? I don’t remember. I know I have at least two opened ones and a garage sale one still in its box semi sealed….but why, past me, did you keep around a whole extra copy? LOL I was a collecting fanatic I guess.

My best friend is happy I’ve collected all this. When he got out, he sold me his collection. He’s negotiating the return of a couple of pieces he’d like pack such as a sealed master woo that he remember being so excited he got from GenCon. Don’t ask about it lol. I’m giving it back to my bet buddy. Can’t sell it to him, we’ve been friends for 30 years. I think I’m going to have to make him take it especially after he looked on eBay.

That’s what hurts looking at eBay. I don’t think I ever bought any D&D waves. Those prices are going to sting. And the completionist in me isn’t going to let that stand. Sigh.

Sounds like you have a lot of unique and interesting HeroScape items. You might want to consider trading rather than buying on Ebay. Here are the rules for the selling and trading on the site. I have some RotV duplicate figs I’m thinking of trying to trade for the handful of various figs that have gone missing in the past decade, so I’ll probably be on there too. I haven’t done any trading here yet, but this is a great community.

PS - Would love to see pics of the cool collectors items you have when you dig them out!

Here’s the Store display item.

EDIT: For some reason the Google drive link to the image isn’t work so let’s try a URL.

EDIT2: Tried an image hosting service. Maybe this works?

Also just found another storage tote. SCORE! Apparently I didn’t stop buying with the D&D master set. Just found a tote that has the master set, and still sealed D&D wave 2, and and opened D&D wave 3. No explanation about the lack of D&D Wave 1 though.

 Hey! Scape In A Bottle!

Don't think I've ever seen one of these before. Nice variety of figures.

That bubble is pretty awesome! Are the figs and terrain in there untouched?

It would be cool to see you set up the new master set terrain and figs in the bubble. Maybe if the relaunch goes great we’ll see these again in the toys aisle at Walmart and Target, but that’s a long shot.

This was the Toys ‘R Us shelf display in their stores. It’s pretty much an entire master set in a bubble. It sat up on the shelf to show you everything in the master set except the cards. I’m not sure if it has a full set of terrain, but it does have all the master set minis in it. Along with a full set of red/blue dice. I need to open it up because Deathwalker has fallen over.

Why did I get it? I’m not sure. I was a huge fan of the game back in the day and was wanting to get everything I could lay my hands on. So I bought this sucker off eBay one day.

I’m glad I’ve kept it all these years. It’s a neat piece.

Coming back because of the relaunch series I remember reading about a year or two ago. Forgot about it until I came across the new Master Set at a comic book store. I'm coming back.

I wish I didn't have to sell the original stuff I had but it's never too late to continue
