Public Design Workshop

Re: Public Design Post

Thanks for the responses, guys. I updated the wording above, let me know if it sounds better. Stray thought: would “Hyper-Mind” work as a better power name than “Analyze Weakness”?

As to the bonding, I'd prefer to narrow it down, but I do want it to work with both Hercules and Hulk. We could do "choose a unique Creature or Champion hero you control". Would that be better?

Re: Public Design Post

That wording for Analyze Weakness is clearer. If you want it to have such a wide scope as to affect even friendly figures, though, I wonder if you don't want to restrict it to normal attacks to minimize potential weirdness.

Thought about that, but wasn't certain. I'll go ahead and do it though (it would subtly encourage Cho to be played with units like Hercules and Hulk who don't have SAs, which is a small plus).

Re: Public Design Post

So here's my latest design, I'm having trouble figureing out the last special, he uses the bat grapple and other utilities, just as he does as the red hood, but not nearly as much as batman. His suit is also much more armored than the original batsuit. I also wanted some sort of defensive edge, since I won't be giving him a dodge like Batman and Dick Grayson robin.

Re: Public Design Post

Nice design, Smithy. I think you might be able to work all those powers in, just mixing and changing them a little:

Name - Batman
Secret Identity - Jason Todd

Human
Unique Hero
Vigilante
Vengeful? Angry?

Life - 4
Move - 6
Range - 5
Attack - 4
Defense - 4

Brutal Fists
When attacking with Batman, if at least one skull is rolled, he may attack one additional time. If he attacks an adjacent figure for the second attack, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled.

Utility Belt 2

Enhanced Body Armor
When rolling defense dice with Batman, if at least one shield is rolled, the most wounds he may take from the attack is one.

I think Body Armor would be better off simplified like I have above, no need to give it different affects versus different attacks.

Nice start.

Re: Public Design Post

I'd drop the body armor power and just give him a defense of 6, and then go with the rest of the powers (though Utility Belt 1 instead of 2).

Re: Public Design Post

IMO:

BRUTAL FISTS
When Batman attacks an adjacent figure with his normal attack, if at least two skulls are rolled, he may attack the same figure one additional time with his normal attack and add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled.

Re: Public Design Post

I like the body armour one too. It works more for Jason Todd's Batman. Makes him really tanky. And I think vengeful would be the better personality. :2cents:

Re: Public Design Post

I was thinking that 6 defense would be better and simpler than the special power, plus I wanted to use the Dual Pistols special power over the 5 normal range since he I'd rather see him blazing dual pistols with the tradeoff of loosing that powerful second attack.

I'll take bat's advice for utility belt 1, but I personally would prefer 2.

Re: Public Design Post

Actually, I was misremembering a write up I had. I could go with Utility Belt 2 here. It's one of about two places I wouldn't mind seeing that power.

Re: Public Design Post

I'll take a closer look at this one later; it interests me. The one thing I notice though is actually the Class. Should it be Vigilante? With all of the things Jason Todd has done, Mercenary comes to mind for him under the cowl.

Re: Public Design Post

I could see Maniac, maybe, but not Mercenary.

But, yeah, I do agree that he probably doesn't deserve the typical Vigilante synergies.

Re: Public Design Post

He is. But Jason specifically does not work well with Robin, James Gordon, etc. Whereas with Punisher, we don't really know.

Ahhhh...I see what you're saying now. By definition, vigilante might fit best, but in terms of C3G theme, it's not really feasible. :p

Re: Public Design Post

I could really go either way, but it's a point for going in a different direction at least. :)

Re: Public Design Post

Since this design won the nomination, I'd like to make some suggestions (marked below).

STAN LEE

Spoiler Alert!

Re: Public Design Post

Er... I'm not sure I'm as much of a fan of that... he definitely did some work for DC, but he's more well known for his work with Marvel, including the creation of some of the most iconic Marvel characters (Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Daredevil etc.) while he didn't really create many, if any, DC characters outside of Just Imagine.. Plus, if someone is specifically drafting Stan Lee, I'm fairly certain they'd be putting him heroes who can best use his abilities.

Re: Public Design Post

I'm with Flame Gryphon on this. I think that he should have Marvel sympathies and perhaps, a counter-DC ability.

CLAIRVOYANCE
After rolling for initiative, you may look at one unrevealed Order Marker on an opponent's card for each unrevealed Order Marker on this card.

PRECOGNITIVE VISION
If there is one unrevealed[/spoiler] Order Marker on this card, you may re-roll an initiative roll.

Re: Public Design Post

Interesting power set. I was working on something like that for Johnny Alpha. I like your take.

This was what I was thinking too. Plays well with Marvel but not against. Plays good against DC (and Image, etc.) but not with them. I like quozls powers better though. Didn't like the instakill and review powers, made him a real powerhouse with a hot d20.

I don't know if it would mess with the theme for the Secret Six, but how would Outlaw work? It seems like the best option outside of vigilante.
