The rankings automatically update after each game is played. Gencon preps of late tend to not be reflected in the rankings because the format can encourage some armies/playstyles that make the rankings less useful. Hope that answers your question.

I remember last year there was also a thread for just 2015 rankings that came out early in the year. Are there plans to make a similar thread this year?

Hey Chris,
Currently we don't have any plans for a 2016 End of Year event.
That doesn't mean we won't have an invitational event in the future, and it's likely that if we did we would have a qualification structure similar to the past events. If there's interest we could post some "post-2015" standings, which would apply towards some hypothetical future event.

I think I only ever saw this thread (and ranking in the OP) once before...is this updated regularly?
I noticed that I'm on there as 8-8 and I haven't really been keeping track, so it must be somewhat updated. I just read through this and thought it was a pretty neat little thing we go going here and it would be awesome if it was updated regularly.

Yeah. All the spreadsheets are linked so they do it automatically. We just haven't had games recently so it's been fairly dormant.

Cool. guess I've got some catching up to do. Kevindola, here I come 
So I played my first game of online scape last night with my boy ISB3. I haven't played serious scape, or against a great player, in a couple years so I got bopped but it was very fun. Also had to learn everything and play on a map I've never played before (The Borogoves). The top-down view is pretty hard on a map I don't know well, but he and his bro said it gets a lot easier once you memorize the maps and get use to the aerial angle.
Hella rusty and it will take a bit to get back to being in-practice but all in all I am very much into playing scape again and it is much easier to do with online scape.. Big thank you to those who made it/contribute to it/run it.

Ooo, that’d be cool. A basic Elo system would be really neat for Heroscape scenes local AND global. Like all ScapeCon and GenCon tourneys track player elo so you have a “ranking system” for ‘S’ tier tourneys…that’d be neat I think.

Not unfeasible. I'd need to look into the coding to figure out how to make it work in a way that's useful for the system.

Yeah, obviously it would be awesome to have a single system that ties all the online and convention games in with local scenes. The problem there is that local scenes are more likely to use imbalanced maps or formats. Of course, you could just keep them separate, too.
But I don't have any big plans like that, I just want to do something locally.

I was curious what my recent ranking was and I'm not sure how far those records go back, but I think I am 7-6 ig I'm not mistaken;
S52: 2-2
S53: 4-2
S556: 1-2 (+a bye, which doesn't count iirc)
Definitely not of any importance, wondering how I stack up on the recent leaderboard with that extra win
