---------------------------

Edit 2: Result

Sometimes the dice gods smile at you and laugh at your opponent. That's the best summary I can think of for this game.

Rd 1. I opened Theracus/Teeth/Teeth and KoL opened Viper/Viper/Viper. I won init, Theracus took the lvl 4 height, and Teeth rolled up with the scout troop leader. 2 Vipers rolled in and put 2 wounds on Theracus but missed frenzy. Teeth killed those 2 Vipers. Vipers replace them and killed Theracus, but missed Frenzy again. Teeth killed 3 more Vipers and claimed most of the center height. The last Viper missed a Teeth twice (w/ frenzy).

Rd 2. I went Teeth/Teeth/Viper and KoL went Swift/Swift/Swift. I won init and Teeth killed 2 Swift, basically ending the game. Swift+Arktos came in and killed a few squaddies, but I killed the other 2 Swift to burn OMs. Vipers moved up, got a frenzy, and took 2 heighted attacks on Arktos, doing 4 wounds.

Rd 3. I went Teeth/Viper/Viper and KoL went Brute/Brute/Guilty. I won init again and killed 2 Brutes. The remaining Brutes did small damage while I killed Guilty and missed a lot of attacks on Zeta.

The game was just cleanup from there. Vipers eventually got through to Zeta. Marcu lived a decent time, but I had way too much firepower for him to ever have a realistic chance. I won with 2 Teeth, 2 Vipers, 4 Greys (unactivated) & Brave Arrow (unactivated).

GGs KoL, nothing that could have been done about the d20 variance in Rd 1 + Rd 2.

Draft
Code:
[U]CP[/U] [U]KoL[/U]
Greyspear
		Swiftfang
		Arktos
Cultist x2
		Wyvern
		Spider x1
Cultist x1
Himmel
		Spider x3

Game

I opened pure Cultists while Sir H went Swift/Spider/Swift. I rolled my Cultists up and eventually send in 1 on OM3 while Sir H developed things, then send in 1 Swift on OM3 while the others hung back. The Swift got a kill on a Cultist.

Sir H went all Spiders for the next few rounds while I stayed all Cultists. We traded squaddies, with the Wyvern being super careful. I went for a few big init switches that failed on me (one because Sir H hit a web and picked the right 50/50 on his OM3 to burn my OM3, which was a pretty massive game point). As a result of not getting those switches, Sir H mostly traded better early, but I did take random attacks on Swifts throughout this exchange and managed to kill 2 more of the Swifts. A spider also took Wannok, which ended up putting 3 wounds on Himmel over the course of the game.

When I was down to 1 Cultist, I swung him around to get height on the Wyvern, and he managed to get the Wyvern down to 1 life. The Wyvern then proceeded to miss the next 2 4v4s into the Cultist, which hung him up while the endgame with my Greyspears began.

At this point I had 1 Cultist, 2-life Himmel, & 4 Greys left. Sir H had 1-life Wyvern, 6 spiders, 1 Swift, 3-life Arktos.

The spiders were pretty spread out though and Sir H only got 2 engaged on the first turn and 1 the second, and missed all 3 2v3s while the Greys took out 4 forward spiders. With only 2 Spiders left, Sir H went Swift/Arktos/Arktos and I went all Greys. I won init, killed the Swift, Wyvern, & 1 Spider to take a big lead late. I put 2 more wounds on Arktos & killed the last spider while Arktos killed 1 Grey.

I took a possibly unnecessary risk and went Himmel/Grey/Grey. Sir H won init and made a really good play to send Arktos to low ground, but outside of Himmel range, and got a kill on a Grey. Himmel moved up but I had no attack. Arktos then missed another Grey. I left 1 Grey to take Wannok on my OM3 and sent the other to attack Arktos, and he got the kill to end the game.

GGs Sir H, super close one with a few really big turns in there.

Re: OHS Season 52: Draft - PLAYOFFS

GG's Chris. really well played game. I felt like we both had solid play with thin margins of error.

I was feeling really good about my position all up until that last Nhah Scirh decided to go hero mode and shift the game back into your favor. If he dies, that's another 2-3 turns I've got with the Wyvern to help follow up with those spider engagements I had in your SZ...but without that, the spiders just couldn't do enough on their own. That said, Arktos can solo if I get some shields...but those early wounds on him did wonders...and blanking in the late game really hurt.

again gg's
