Had a couple folks interested in seeing some of the Terrain Boards I've built for 40K.

I only built the 'rusty' stuff on this one.

These were all for event we had last summer. 14 straight hours of 40K, it was sick.

I'm 'terrain junky' of sorts. My 40K army is constantly neglected due to the fact that I much prefer to build terrain as opposed to painting figures. That was one of the HUGE selling points of HS for me, no assembling or painting figures... I just don't enjoy it that much.

Terrain on the other hand, pretty much my entire basement is dedicated to it. I have bins and bins of random 'junk' to make things.

The current project if a full 4' x 8' city board. Still working on the plan, but I'll post progress here if anyone is interested.

Oh, and in case you were wondering I haven't made any terrain specifically for HS for a couple reasons. 1) I prefer (to this point) to only use Hasbro stuff when playing HS and 2) were I to start I probably wouldn't be able to stop which would be yet another past time that would 'force' me to neglect other things.

Those were part of the scenario. I got the idea from an old GI JOE episode where the factions raced from place to place collecting 'elements' that when all gathered would create a super weapon. The 40mm bases represented the 'elements', which we placed randomly on each board thru dice rolling.

Thanks. It's funny a lot of people seem to migrate towards that board, and of course that one took the least amount of effort to build.

Here's a refinery I built a long time ago, but will find a place in the city I'm building.

EDIT: Oh, and for those of you who don't play/know 40K, that's not a Indianapolis Colts symbol on the holding tank to the right. I play Ultramarines and their symbol is Omega. Patriots fan thru and thru here (did a big head slap after I realized what I had done).

Funny you say that, I have got rid of some of my other city terrain recently. I want the new pieces to all look somewhat uniform (use like materials and paint them all at the same time).

I've gone back and forth on whether to ebay the refinery, though I don't think it will lend itself to ship very well (a bit fragile).

It Begins...

A piece of 2 x 8 x 1/2 foam plus my plan and I'm ready to get started on the 1st half of the city.

Basically made a copy of my plan onto the foam (where to cut).

About a 1/2 hour later I have the basic shapes for 5 buildings.

I'll probably end up up getting 7 or 8 buildings out of this. Since I'm making a ruined city, there's going to be a lot of hacking off of the walls, which when cut in half (diagonally... sort of) will leave a large enough piece to be a wall for another building.

Next step is to cut out all the windows on these pieces... I hate this part. Hopefully another update tomorrow.
