This unit has proven to be strong (too strong?) in matchups against B level or lower style armies, especially ones that can't overcome the strong chance heal.

However when matched up against top level armies, Nidhogg, while usually doing his point value, will come out on the losing end. This has a lot to do with OM sinking while the rest of the army is stagnant.

The c3v team is very interested to see what armies and styles of usage the public can come up with for this unit and eager to get feedback on the overall design of this behometh powerhouse.

Not sure how important this is to list, but as a Terrifying figure Nidhogg would also benefit from Ataraxis the Starlich's Terror Enhancement Field.

Seems like Braxas in a lot of ways but I feel I'd rather have Braxas over this. Neat ideas though.

Map: Stoker (initiative and disengage

Nidhogg, Kaemon Awa, Krav Maga Agents (450 points)

Quahon, Greenscales x3, Raelin (450 points)

Which units survived? Kaemon Awa with 2 wounds, 1 Krav Maga Agent

General Battle Report/Flow of game (be as detailed or general as you like)

Raelin and Greenscales set up outside their startzone while the Hogg army led Krav. Krav killed 2 Greenscales and grabbed Dagmar to secure the init switch, but 2 whiffed defense rolls against Quahon. Nidhogg rolls in and started breathing. Quahon retreated up to the Lava height in the center in Raelin's aura and Greenscales piled in. Nidhogg got 5 turns before falling, but got some wounds on Quahon and Greenies. At this point Quahon was up to 5 wounds and only 4 greenscales left. Greenscales did their best to keep Kaemon locked down but his dice held and he eventually got thru to Quahon and dropped her. Raelin didn't stand a chance.

How useful were playtesting units' powers and how often did they come into play?

5 turns on Nidhogg, 5 Breaths of Decay. Nidhogg dealt 3 wounds to Quahon and killed 3 greenscales, going 6/18 on his rolls. Missed or didn't have an option for his normal attacks. I would have loved to get a big attack on Quahon, but Greenscales did a good job of closing down the position and it would have been a 6 v 6 if I could get there. Plus, actually getting the models to fit next to each other was a big ask especially on this map. But, his threat did keep Quahon up on lava for 2 more wounds.

Any additional comments (theme, balance, fun factor with and against)?

Perhaps not the best test, I'm not particularly well-versed playing Quahon and friends. But tried my best, maybe I can give it another go soon. To me, Nidhogg felt a bit 1 dimensional here. 12 life is fantastically beefy which is really cool. But here, I couldn't come up with anything more compelling than sitting in the same spot on even ground and trying to high roll Breath of Decay. Perhaps there is a more interesting matchup out there. 6 attack is a little low I think.

Notes from my Round 1 Battle Report.

I played him horribly. I put him on low ground in the start zone thinking I'd move him, but got caught up to by some foes and he died before really doing anything. He has the Braxas problem. Kill or gosh darn it, be killed. He's tempting to take LEAs and such to set up huge Breath of Decay turns since his Life is so high. Risk to reward.

Notes from my Round 2 Battle Report.

I got to see Nidhogg's power this game. Breath of Decay has such a huge area of effect, it's not too hard to hit 3 or 4 figures in a turn. Not being able to heal with Breath of Decay makes the decisions tough, and could result in disappointment if a low-life hero stands in the way of your big Breath move. Getting to still attack afterward is a big help. Like Braxas, the life value really doesn't get you very far as 3 defense just gets chewed through by high-attack multi-attackers like They Who Laugh.
