Welcome to the Second Season of the Mass Championship Series!

Hosted by OEAO and Chris Perkins at the wonderful Games N Friends, the MCS is a friendly tournament series that anyone can attend! Each season will run (roughly) from fall through the next summer, culminating in a final championship. We will crown the champion of Season I at our inaugural MCS Season I Championship on October 7th, 2023!

We will also crown the regular season champion based on overall record for all events in the season prior to the Championship itself. Players who have played in at least 3 events that season are eligible to win the regular season champion title.

THIS MONTH’S DETAILS:

Season II, Event 1: Snow Day
Saturday, January 6, 2024
12:30 Setup
11:00 AM - ~3:00 PM (4 Rounds, unless there are 17+ players)

SIGN UP HERE: https://heroscape.org/tournament/?Tournament=195

Cost: $10 (100% of admission cost will be used to purchase gift certificates to the store that will be prized out to the top X players, depending on attendance)

Format: Snow Day
Delta Pricing: YES
VC: NO
Marvel: NO

Snow Day is a new innovation on Control Points. In Snow Day, you are competing for Victory Points by controlling the Control Points (having more different army cards within 2 spaces of a Control Point at the end of the round). In addition, you have the option to lob snowballs at your (small and medium) enemies, repositioning them and potentially inflicting a wound.

Format Specifics:
475 Points (Delta), 20 Figures

Control Points: Alternate victory condition:
Be the first player to reach 10 Victory Points. If both players end a round tied, then play another round (and continue until the tie is broken).
Each map will have two control points (towards the center of the map). At the end of the round, if you have more army cards within two spaces of a control point than your opponent, then you score Victory Points equal to the round number. Repeat this process for the other control point.

Example:
At the end of Round 3, Player A has 5 Knights of Weston, Arkmer, and 3 Goblin Cutters within 2 spaces of a control point. Player B has Moltenclaw, Mimring, and Otonashi within 2 spaces of that same control point. Player A has 4 army cards within range (2 cards of Knights, Arkmer, and 1 card of Goblin Cutters), whereas Player B has 3 army cards within range (Moltenclaw, Mimring, and Otonashi). Player A would score 3 Victory Points for that control point. They would repeat this process for the other control point.

SNOWBALL FIGHT:

While a Figure is on a Snow Space, it Gains:
Snowball Special Attack
Range 4 Attack Special
-Roll a number of attack dice equal to this figure’s normal attack. A defending figure rolls defense dice as normal.
-Snowballs do not inflict wounds normally.
-Instead, if a wound would be inflicted, the attacking figure forces the defending figure backwards 1 hex away from the attacking figure (as directly away from the figure as possible). If that space is blocked (by another space or an obstacle), the figure will not be moved. A large or huge figure may never be moved by Snowball Special Attack.
-If a Snowball would inflict 3 or more wounds to a figure, that figure receives 1 wound (in addition to being moved 1 space).

All Unique Heroes Gain:
Snow Mastery
After revealing an Order Marker on this card, when this figure attacks with Snowball Special Attack, it may attack up to 2 additional times with Snowball Special Attack.

Special Rule: Day of the Dzu
Rock Outcrops and the Mario Hive will be treated as Glaciers, and adjacent Glaciers will be treated as a single Glacier.

Maps: COMING SOON (all snow and ice maps)

Glyph Pool:
Power Glyphs (face-up): Dagmar, Wannok, Valda, Brandar, New Ulaniva, New Lodin
Brandar: Disengage (while you control this glyph, all your figures gain Disengage)
New Ulaniva: Once per order marker, before rolling attack dice, you can roll one additional attack die
New Lodin: +2 to your D20 rolls
