Iowans

Welcome to the site jpat.
Always glad to see more Iowans, even if they are in Hawkland. :)

Nebraska is not that far from Iowa...

A bit farther than I'm looking to drive, but thanks. I'm looking for something more regular (monthly) in the CR area.

I've played Heroscape one time in the past year, at a March tourney in Minnesota. Every time I look over at my giant pile of Heroscape bins, I cringe at the CPP (Cost Per Play) factor.

I'm in Iowa City. Of course, I haven't played anything ... yet. I swooped in on the Amazon sales and picked up Marvel, SotM, and a couple of boosters, all of which are arriving in stages. I tend to go deep into things I like, so, assuming (as I do) that I like this, I expect to pick up more stuff. :D I'd be interested in talking about a meetup (with anyone), but I'll warn you that my wife's the only driver in the family, and she's, uh, not a gamer, shall we say.

Welcome, first off.
And you are more than welcome to join in on any games or tourneys that we have. Im not as close as some in your area, spider_poison lives in Iowa City, and is second to none in this community. A great person, and an excellent player. Supergeek, is probably one of the best map-building minds on the boards...and would/could easily throw dice with ya sometime. I, myself, live a little bit farther from you than others. But if you ever feel up to it...our wives could always sit around and do the wife stuff while us geeks sit around and do geek stuff.
I know the drive is a bit farther than Supergeek and spider, but I know that SG comes out on a semi-regular basis, and I used to head out there about the same. This area has a very friendly playgroup that exceeds easily 20 players. Getting us together on a regular gamenight, however, would be close to impossible. Tourneys are about the only way for our group to keep up with each other.

Glad to see another member has joined the Midwest Group, and hope to toss dice with ya in the future.

Thanks for the tips. You yourself are probably pretty close to my parents, who live in NW Iowa (Cherokee, to be specific).

Hey Jpat!
You're in I.C.? Cool. I'm in Wisconsin, but originally from Marion/C.R..

My parents still live in Marion and I have friends in Iowa City I often visit. Maybe during one of my trips back we could get together and play?

Also, shameless plug for the Iowa City Zombie March, which I organize, will be Sept. 18th, 2008. Check out ZombieMarch.org for more details.

Sure. Give me a PM should something come up.

All Iowans are welcome to the Topeka Heroscape Tournament, and especially the Lee's Summit, MO tournaments (keep an eye out for them, or check www.kcheroscapers.com)

Osage Tourney on June 21st, if a place can be found. Originally had the library, but they only support 'organizations.' Bowling Alley is the only other place big enough, and they 'remembered' they have a party that weekend for some 5 year old. Lucky me.

I haven't checked this thread in a while.
I have a some family that lives up there. Unfortunately I don't ever get up there. I think that one of our members fomo6 is in Sioux Falls, SD if that's any help.
Welcome to the site.

If any North Iowans are up for it, I'm gonna be hanging out at the library this weekend, if anyone wants to come play some 'Scape, drop me a PM. Only 1 or 2 people can come though.

So this thread doesn't look very active lately, but it looks like I'm going to be moving to Iowa City this summer for graduate school. Just wondering if there's anybody in or around there who would be up for some 'Scape sometime.

Actually ISU is a better school than IU for chemistry, but I didn't get accepted there...so IU it is. But IU pays more, which means more heroscape for me :)
