• Welcome to the Heroscapers 2.0 site! We've still got some dust to clear and adjustments to make, including launching a new front page, but we hope you enjoy the improvements to the site. Please post your feedback and any issues you encounter in this thread.

I wanna go, back to Ontario, please Mom I wanna go home!

Hello,

I think there are some gamers in your area that are listed on another website called tabsonline.net. Check it out and you may surprise yourself.
I'm over in Scarberia (Toronto East) Check out that site and if you're interested there is a CondoCon comming up on June 3rd in the heart of TO. We could hook up there for some HeroScape if you're able to travel.

PM me and we can talk some more.

EDIT

Check out the post in the Event Forum

Also from the Great white North of Ontario. I'm north of TO, Bradford

Your not alone Porter235. There are a few others in Waterloo/Kitchener that play and have been following the boards regularily. I sent you a PM if your interested in connecting sometime.

With the current discussions of the U.S. players on "heroscape game-days" and a message from atmospro, it would be nice if the GTA area 'scapers could find a date and location to have our own day of Heroscaping.

I believe there are quite a few here and you all probably know atleast one or two others who play. I have had game-days with my circle of friends before (risk, stratego, dominos, etc) but none of them are into Heroscape so have come here looking for fellow players.

If the rest of you are like me, you are probably quite busy so it would need to be planned fairly far in advance so we can all arrange babysitting and what not. But with the Fall and Winter nearing, the weather is going to make it a great opportunity for some indoor gaming.

Hopefully there is some response to this and we can arrange a date and hopefully develop a community to rival those in California and Texas!

Hey MrBishop,
There are a few of us in Waterloo who may be up for a drive into T.O. sometime. I hate Toronto traffic but for a game day it would be worth it.

Thanks for the reply Jazz.

One response so far but atleast Jazz seems to represent several peeps.

If anybody else in the area would enjoy a Heroscape game day feel free to post!

Mr B you know I'm in, if at all possible.
We need to get in touch with Faartknocker and let him know about starting this in motion, He's in north TO, and looking for peeps to play with. And he's got tonnes of inventory.

I've been so busy over the course of the summer I just didn't have time to get a game or two in with you guys. Over the next month I should be able to start getting some games in.

I think if we could get 8 people and a place to paly, it would start to grow from there.

If Mr. Knocker is in we are closing in on eight people if Jazz can gather the rest of his gaming group. Hopefully he can participate as I am sorely lacking in terrain. I imagine everyone trying to play on my one Master set and Tundra would be problamatic!

In terms of places to play, I will check with my wife about offering our humble home as a venue. If someone has access to a condo gathering room or some such thing that would be better however.

If anyone has access to a good room for some gaming in TO post away! If so throw a few days out as well. Looks like a few folks are starting to come together so hopefully this happens.

Mr. Bishop

Hey Fellas,
Sounds exciting! I'll talk to a few guys tomorrow and see if they are in for the drive. I should be good to bring at least two players but the timing is bad for me right now as we have a baby on the way (due early Oct). The earliest Saturday might work (depends on baby) would be Oct 28th. Other dates that would work better for me include November 11, 18, or 25.

Hello, everyone.

I'm 33 years old, employed, mature, solid, etc. and I play Heroscape. Go figure. I really like this game. I've got all the figures, terrain, et al that has been put out so far. I'm also, like you, looking for more people to play with (I currently have one play fellow and, though he's good, he's only available on Friday nights).

I live in Thornhill at Yonge and Steeles, just north of Toronto. If any of you are interested in getting together at my place for some games, please let me know. Cheers!

Oh, yes, and I'm definitely interested in participating in a Heroscape game day event. I'd even be happy to help organize it. Let's keep talking. Cheers!

Glad to hear you are interested in a gameday. Help with organizing would be greatly appreciated as I seem to be quite lacking in time. Jazz had indicated some dates in November in a previous post (his October date is now out) and any of those days will work for me. He should have a few other guys coming as well. If atmospro lets us know when would work for him we can run with a date.

I'm 31 years old, employed, mature (when I need to be), solid (on occasion, unfortunately far less often then I wish I was:)) and I play Heroscape when I can. Family and work keep me pretty busy.

Thanks again for offering help on organizing the GTA game day. Hopefully it happens in November.

I'll check the dates Jazz menioned and let you guys know what works for me. This is a very busy time of the year for me business wises but I really want to get out and play some HS with you guys.
I can bring my inventory with me as it set up for traveling.
I've got 2MS, 1 RTTFF, 1VW, 2TT, both Large Hero ssets, both Exclusives, All of Wave1-4 although only 2 of each common. Should have wave 5 and a castles or 2 by that time,.... Crosses fingers.

We need to get a thread going with a signup sheet here and see how many people we can generate. Start the three possible dates and give people the option to sign up for any or all date that suit them. I count 6 peeps as now but other maybe just waiting to see if things are a go. Their are some good suggestion for running an event right here on the site and I've got experience running tournaments/gaming events (chess and 40K shhhhh).

Hi guys.

This is for my fellow (southern) Ontarians only. How's the autumn weather doin' ya? Good I hope. I'm writing with regards to our planned game-day. I say, the sooner, the better. The longer we wait, the less likely it will be to happen.

Even if only half a dozen of us get together, it will at least form an inner circle we can build upon. If we instead wait to have ten or more people committed, we're likely never to get it going. Let's just do it. Let's just set a date and a place (a library meeting room, etc) and just play.

I think that others, if they see that there's a game group - however small -, will want to join. Jump starting it is the key. Further, I don't think meeting in downtown Toronto is such a great idea. My neighbourhood is far less congested and much more pleasant. It's also centralized. I'm not saying this just because I live here, but because I've compared.

Anyhow, we needs must get going if you're at all serious about this. As much as I'd love to meet up with you all and play, I don't have time for endless e-mail tag. Those of you who are serious about it must set a date. Then we can work out the details. Cheers!

It looks like Nov 11 is going to be the best date for me.
Is that good for you Knockers, if so then all the main interest parties are good for that date and we can run with it.

Knockers? Were you thinking of your wife/girlfriend when you wrote your last post, atmospro?

Anyway, November 11 sounds good. I'll immediately start looking for a play site/place I can reserve. Once I've got it, I'll post it. Bye for now. Cheers!

I've marked Nov 11 in my Calendar and I have already confirmed that date with one other player. We will talk to a few of the other guys here in KW to see if they are available. Hopefully we can come down with a car load of guys.

It will be great to meet you guys and see how well we all play against each other. It looks like we will have everything available to play with. Between the two of us here, we have everything except Nerak, Sir Hawthorn and the Castle which we should have by then.

As far as driving is concerned, Thornhill is definitely better than downtown T.O. but, if you cannot find a place Fartknocker let me know. I may be able to get us a large place in Bramalea if I have enough notice.

Finally, we will have to determine how we are going to arrange the day and our games but this may need to wait until we confirm numbers. I will be talking to a few others today and I'll try to confirm our final numbers from KW by this weekend.

Hi, there Jazz

If you know of a LARGE place that you can secure for Nov. 11, please GO FOR IT AT ONCE!

I'm still looking here in Thornhill, but I've yet to come up with anything. I'd be happy to drive to Bramalea if the locale can be ensured. I'll keep looking. Cheers!

I called this morning and reserved the basement of a church building. It's a newer building and the basement will have plenty of room for game play.

Is Bramalea a reasonable distance for you other guys drive? The building is located at 750 Clark blvd. just off of the 410. I can likely get the building from 8-6PM. Let me know if this works.

At sounds fine with me about 40 min drive. Having this it in Bramalea is a good solution for everyone, easy to get to and it cuts down on a lot drive for you and your bunch out in K/W. 8Am - 6Pm should give us plenty of time for a very fun day.
I'll let some other chime in before starting a sign up thread in the events forum.

A church basement sounds like an ideal location for the event and Bramalea is centrally located for everyone.
I will double check tonight with the wife to ensure I have access to the car (we only have one) but it should not be a problem.
It seems like it is starting to come together!

Looks like we have a time, place and date. All we need now is to discuss how we want to organize the day (number of maps, games, pt total for armies etc.) Once we confirm final numbers we can begin to figure this out.

Just to let you guys know, TRU should have the castles on the shelf tomorrow. One of my friends called me informing me that they just pulled them off the truck a few hours ago. I had one aside and just got back with my new purchase. They were not on the shelf yet but I suspect that the night crew will put them out.

Also, as I was visiting family in Sarnia Monday, I noticed that the local Wal-Mart had collection 5 (Ninjas etc.) Perhaps there is hope for Canadians with regard to finding stock after all. Happy Hunting

Car is confirmed for the November 11 (asking permission makes me feel like such a child but I imagine those of you who are married can relate).

Her one request was that I not come home smelling like "nerd sweat". :D I take a lot of abuse about enjoying this game but atleast she ladens her insults with Simpsons references, it makes them much easier to take!

In terms of format (army size, maps, etc) I will defer the decisions to the rest of the group as I am just looking forward to playing some games!

I look forward to meeting you guys. Atmospro, I think its almost time to start that sign-up sheet!
