So I screwed up major. Its a long story, but the result is that we had to revert the site to a back-up version from just under a week ago. That means any posts between that time are gone. They are only coming back if you take the time to re-post them. I'm really sorry about this.

We all make mistakes. We just have to be thankful that we only lost 6 days worth of posts rather than 3 years worth of posts.

All of you, let this be a lesson. THIS IS WHY EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, needs to be backed up, always. I remember a story where this business, a very successful online business, their servers had a power surge or something happened. They lost EVERYTHING. Their entire business, built over many years, GONE FOREVER. The guy ended his story saying exactly that "this is the very reason why our site is backed up each and every day and stored at an off-site location. Those 15 minutes of downtime while the system is backed up is a small price to pay instead of losing all those years of work. "

My D&D Heroscape thread? I have that saved on a word document. The framework of my map thread I will post eventually? That started on a word document and will always be backed up to a word document. I started doing that on an old forum because their primitive forum system would automatically lock a thread when it got to 2000 posts. There were also only 50 pages before the thread got deleted forever. If you went to bed early your thread might not be there in the morning, which is why everybody put their threads on word documents and such.

Then there was another time on a different forum where a mod accidentally DELETED this guy's HUGE thread. Oh man was he pissed and the mod felt like an asshole. Yet another reason to save your stuff.

So, take it as a lesson learned.

But, I too love long stories. Please?
 
Well that's a shame. Looks like Jexik's entire HoB Power Rankings thread is gone. :|
 
It's all right Truth. It sucks, but I honestly don't think it is that bad. We'll just keep posting, and soon catch up.;)

Oh how I pity you. Too bad you don't have all of those chapters backed up in word, you know the three or four rough drafts you wrote of each chapter in order to get spelling/wording just right?

Wait, you just wrote the stuff from the top of your head on spot? Oh yeah, real horror there. Hey, maybe this time you can put a bit more work and though into it, huh?

Truth, no sweat. I've got the back ups to just about everything important (which is nothing atm), and I think a lot of people do too. I betcha Jexik has either a word doc or a spread sheat of the power rankings, so nothing will probably be lost there. Don't worry Migraine, he's probably got it covered...or you can just look in the codex. :razz:

True, I am writing off the top of my head, but I still put thought into it. From now on, I'm backing up the story.
 
Not a big deal Truth :D Fortunately I had my things backed up. Community efforts can be done again, no big deal.

It's ok, but thank goodness that you didn't have to back up to March or April. So, let's be happy it was only one week. ;)
 
PMs were lost, too, whether they were sent or received.


Ya know, if you guys didn't want me to join the 11-club, all ya had to do was give me some negrep, not crash the whole damn site. :razz:
 
Crap. I lost 25 rep(which gave me a shiny), 15 or so PMs (though nothing extremely important), and of course my posts. Oh well.

Well, I just made my first ever post the other day and POOF! it's all gone...oh well, hopefully a few remembered what I said, but if not, it's not a big deal!...I'll sum up:

I like the Heroscape, I spend way too much money on the Heroscape and I like the Heroscape.

So that sums it up!...I guess those who had new accounts in the last week will have to do what I did, and sign up again. No biggie!

ON with the CHLOROPHYL!!!
 
Does anyone know how often Google caches pages? It appears the most recent cached version of my tournament thread was Aug 20th, so it doesn't include the key post telling it's postponed. Matbe I'll try Yahoo or something...

Yeah, you want 4 of each common, and I think it was 6 mastersets with 5 (?) of each terrain expansion? You're also a big fan of Dr. Weirdscaper, and I recomended you look at Gibberish_47's, Bixby's, and Starocean###'s map threads because they are all in a similar vein. I don't feel like getting the links up again, and I forgot the three didgets in star's name. Does that sound about right?
 
Anyone who lost +rep I gave them can PM me and I'll give back again for their non-existing post! Course it might not count for as much since I lost a bit of rep too but hey these things happen.:D

;), its ok truth, I find it kind of cool actually...I am glad I read this, because I spent the last 5 minuets pressing refresh on my computer, and I was like, hmmmmm Maybe its my browser?
