• Welcome to the Heroscapers 2.0 site! We've still got some dust to clear and adjustments to make, including launching a new front page, but we hope you enjoy the improvements to the site. Please post your feedback and any issues you encounter in this thread.

HeroScape is coming back!

I have no issue with folks criticizing the quality of the paints (or the price of painting). I think anyone who expected a truly "premium" paint job was fooling themselves, though. I think some of the paint jobs I've seen for this stuff is on par with OG Heroscape and some is much worse. I don't think any of it is worth the price (but I'm also not interested in figures at all). I just think it's a silly argument to suggest that the use of "premium" promised some elite paintjob.

I agree that some top tier perfect paint job shouldn't have been expected, but I think people expecting the figures to look at least as good as the OG stuff was reasonable. And some of the figures do look ok, but to have others missing paint on entire parts of the body or the excessively blotchy applications is pretty nuts, premium or not.

To market it as premium in any sense of the word versus what the product ended up as just feels like at worst they knowingly mislead people, or at best had terrible quality control. Given the context of the other issues, I think their quality control just sucked, unfortunately. Stuff like those faceless Drakes should have never made it to the customer, especially when it's a special promo item too. That's just wild.

 I'm only interested in the figures, and any new types of terrain they come up with. However, the price of the Renegade figures probably means I'll be very choosy, instead of trying to collect them all, which was my original intention. So far all I'm getting is the (painted) Valkyrie box, which seems to be the most popular one both in my local group, and in general. And I may get the Walls set if there are no production issues with it.

Since I've proxy played all of the new figures after Haslab thanks to Anitar's cards (and a few of my own) and can continue to do so by printing out the official Renegade cards as they are made available, I just treat them like C3V entries right now--I'll get the figures I like if available, although I do print out all the cards as they come out. I'm waiting to see if Renegade make the figures issued only with sets so far in boxes by themselves, as they are doing for the Promo figures.

To each their own, folks. I'm glad Heroscape is "back." But then, around here as part of The New York City Gang of Four, it never left. As usual, see my signature thread for our monthly custom adventures.

I know better than to expect an elite paint job. But they didn't even do a passable job on some of the figures.

Sounds like you two should ask for your money back

There are only two paint job issues that really bug me:
Bok Bur Na is a solid tan in every picture I've seen. Put him next to any Marro Drudge and the difference is night and day.
Second:
All Sgt. Drake figures have grey faces.
All other figures don't look horrible to me, probably because there's no original figure for me to use for a direct comparison (Shiori excepted, of course, I think she looks quite good so far).
But none of them look as good as the 2022 Gencon showing of AoA.
But I ordered unpainted, and Drake/Shiori are freebies, so I'm not complaining about my own misfortune.

My AoA came in the mail today. However playing it is going to have to wait until Saturday, so we'll see how it turns out (I'll have to examine the Drake Alexander paint job myself then ;))

Received my shipping notification email. My Heroscape arrives Monday, August 26! I'm both dumbfounded and ecstatic with the news. New Heroscape doesn't seem real. Pinch me.
By the way, this new site looks snazzy!

Just don't let your own face go grey.
