HeroScape is coming back!

Well met!

How can the Buccaneers of Tortuga not be Pirates?

VC has some cool Rogue synergy; I didn't go back and read the book but I expect they were Rogues for synergy with Elaria and co.

Wow! I haven't been logged in for 12 years. Surprised I remember my password. I am excited Heroscape is coming back. I would check the sight every 6 months or so to check out the customs, but I would just lurk.
As Renegade is looking for suggestions:
Egyptians, pirates, confederates and Atlanteans
I would love a grut on a triceratops, chariots manned or unmanned, a Chinese type dragon and an Atlantean riding a shark.
Also if there is a new master set it should be a box of figures and a box of terrain inside another box. That way you can sell terrain, figures separately and still have a starter set for new players. Also make the order markers either red (for Utgar), purple (for Aquilla) or Orange (for Einar). As each previous set had order markers that corresponded with a general's color.

October 7? I'm curious who will be on the panel.

I'm hoping we'll see some original designers make guest appearances. I don't expect CVN to be working on the game because he's with AH, but I don't see why he couldn't be a panel guest.

He could leave his job at AH between now and then. Here's to hoping!

Even if CVN doesn't work fulltime with Renegade, it's possible there's something he could contribute via contract work. It would be nice to have him on board in some capacity

From the "Question Dump" thread:
Yep, this is one of the main problems with Heroscape language - "move" refers to several different things, between a move phase of your figure's activation, move actions it can take both within that phase and out of it, and other abilities that move figures against thei will.

This is one of those muddy areas we tackled head on in C3G 2.0 and created distinct terms for so we could sort these things out. Seems crazy to ask the end user to use an ability to move their figure but not use a "before moving" ability they have when they do. :p

It's also something that the C3V has been discplined with. If you look through its body of work, you will see internal consistency with timing (and other technical matters).

The game was conceived and developed as a family game, for parents to get to play with their kids. The original designers simply did not perpare it for this type of close examination.
It's great Renegade is picking up the torch with the new AoA designs. But just creating new stuff is half the battle. I hope someone plans to take a long hard look at ALL the Army Cards and Rulebooks in existence.

Many cards could use a reprint for various reasons. 1) Errata from the FAQ. 2) Inconsistent wording. 3) Better terminology and wording using fanbase customs as examples. 4) Are they planning to move forward with Destructible Objects. If so, this opens up a somewhat messy can of worms.

Then there's the rulebook(s)... which need updates for the same reasons, and others that I haven't mentioned.

I would love to see a Heroscape Second Edition similar to what X-wing Miniature Game did. Clean things up and issue new unit cards for existing figures. Perhaps even take points values off the cards and make them digital (gasp).

If Renegade plans to do any Army Card reprints, I would like to request a reprint of the card for Venoc Warlord. I think perhaps it's about time we get a unique name that sounds more threatening than Mittens :)

It would be nice to see reprints, even if they were new sculpts and unpainted - it would just be nice to have older units available to new players.

Same. A thought popped into my head related to this. Assuming they did something like this I wonder if there is a additional 'hoop' to jump thru for D&D units. That's likely another license they'd need to have and likely cost preventative.

I wonder in that case, with new sculpts, if name changes (since, for example, Drow I assume would fall under the license) would be considered by Renegade and accepted by the community?

Be fine with me, not that it means much. :)

Roughly an hour until the Meet the HS Team segment on Renegatde's Youtube channel! :woot::woot::woot:

I tried searching for it on youtube and all it came up with is something about final fantasy 1

rather it had some older stuff from years ago, but I couldn't find anything for this convention. Also found several videos having to do with Football. Nothing with this convention in it

I just searched "Renegade Games" and that brought up the livestream.

Sounds like they may be adjusting some Avalon Hill AoA units. They referred to making the blimp work. Also shrinking the master set and releasing at least 2 additional terrain sets.

Design team says best way to interact with them is via the Renegade Discord. Look for the names in Renegade Blue.

Also CVN and AH are still involved.

Team agrees that the obvious answer for most exciting thing coming up is Raelin. Hints at good Raelin and "cloaked" Raelin.

No reprints if old figures, but maybe new versions of old figures. Sounds like all AH AoA figures will be coming out eventually, but maybe not in first wave. Intial release will be playable stamd alone.

interesting, I searched that and it worked as well. before I searched "renegade gaming convention" and it came up with nothing related except from years ago. Yet the page is literally called 'renegade gaming"

Before searching Renegade Games I searched Renegade Gaming and that brought up entirely wrong stuff.

Renegade Games "Meet The Team" Heroscape Stream

Did any of you watch today's stream? Its interesting that they will be putting out an application to playtest. I took some notes. The first content reveal will supposedly be in 3 months, with a relaunch in 2024. There will be a new stand alone Master Set. There will also be smaller buy in packs. Age of Annihilation stuff will all be issued, including the stretch goals. They are working on 3 terrain packs and there will be more later. Product will be issued in multiple Waves. There will be Organized Play.

No decision yet on whether minis will be painted. Old figures will not be reissued, as all the moulds have been destroyed. Some of the team have been lurking on the site and will be posting there soon. The two most directly involved have been long time Scapers.

To find the hour long stream on youtube I entered "Renegade Heroscape."
