Heroscape FanFiction Collaboration - REGISTRATION CLOSED

Regarding your OOC question in the main thread, EL, I suppose the pace of the DM's responses is entirely up to the DM. Some Storytellers in CoN reply to players frequently while others would wait for everyone and reply in one big chunk. It depends on their style.

I kind of like the idea of having a connection between people and their characters in the sense that, if two players are really active like @HolyDiver and @kolakoski were today, then those two characters are kind of "more interested/engaged" in the particular interaction than the others. And the other players then, as you did, fluidly re-insert themselves into the story when they have time to write. This keeps play going. The main exceptions to this will, of course, be situations where players are all part of the scene and can't really be anything but invested in what's going on, like fighting mobs or disabling a trap that's about to incinerate everything in the room etc.

Also wtf lol

Spoiler Alert!

Please keep formatting to the color code. I should probably compile one above, but regular dialogue needs to be in standard quotes. You can make the words a bit bigger or bold them if you like, but please leave colors for things like votes, in calmer stages of the story like the one we're in now (a vote will suffice for an action in some of these) your main action (like in a fight or other suspense action cycle), and of course for NARRATION.

It also just occured to me that the players may sometimes change a dialogue type calm interaction into a suspense action cycle by choosing to attack the mob. This is, as long as there is a majority vote.

I updated the first post with another spoiler at the bottom with the current color code. @taf @TGRF @kolakoski @Tornado @HolyDiver please review these when you get a chance. There are a couple clarifications, and one added action.

I have created and added a regional map to the first post for your reference.

Spoiler Alert!

Congrats! You'll be at 300 before you know it

I've updated the formatting as requested moving forward, EL, though it's not aesthetically to my liking I'll admit. Let me know if there are further issues—my brain auto-pilots to CoN formatting by default.

It's been so long since I played CoN that I've forgotten most of it. I appreciate the formatting updates.

I also appear to have made a mistake. You're welcome to update your post if you like. The mistake was when I said there were two choices, the Old Fort or the Caverns. That was my bad. In the opener I highlighted that the Old Fort and the Caverns were the MOST LIKELY places survivors could end up. The Old Fort because it may, from your perspective, offer safety, the Caverns because whatever attacked them would most likely come from there. It's an old bandit hideout (yeah I know, I'm meta gaming, but I realized I have some holes in the story to plug that I should have done in the opening narration).

You guys are perfectly free to decide to stay in Calborn and investigate further, spend another day figuring out what's going on with Marilli, or decide to check Kyrit, Belthrandir (dwarves), roam the eastern plain, or any other location on the map. It's an open world (as far as the regional map I gave you goes). However, the main action will begin in one of those two places I mentioned (which is why I mentioned them). The other places have lore and such as well though not necessarily entirely relevant to the main plot.

Hope this clears things up.

Man, I keep thinking I have to phrase my reply so I don't seem suspicious. CoN habits die hard lol.

~TGRF.

Hahaha, right? Old habits are tough nuts to crack. I only played 2 or 3 games of CoN so I didn't really develop those ones specifically.

Kolakoski is back. We're just moving a bit too fast for him. He said he's having some trouble reading the longer form comments like the narrations. As much as I like to move the action along quickly, we're going to slow down a bit for him. I'll see what I can do about formatting the longer form stuff in a way that's easier for him like shooting him a drive link with the writing black on white.

We're just waiting on @TGRF. This action cycle started Tuesday night, so we'll wait until Friday night @11pm before continuing the narration.

Hey guys. The news of today is that @TGRF is no longer able to participate due to responsibilities in his life. We need to decide what to do with Eliren.

The campaign is built around the characters you guys created, so I'd rather not simply take an axe to him or have him disappear mysteriously. There's two choices I see. I can assign a player to control two characters (their own and Eliren) or I can take Eliren over as an NPC.

Thoughts?

That is very unfortunate to hear! :-? At present two characters sounds like a lot to juggle, especially when TGRF's character seemed rather complex. Perhaps it would be best for the DM to control Eliren for the time being.

@kolakoski I lost track of time. Round technically ends in an hour. I'll push it to tomorrow morning if you need more time.

@kolakoski @TheAverageFan @HolyDiver @Tornado

Temperature check. Seems like the game pace has slowed down some. I'm just looking for some feedback along the lines of, Are you guys still enjoying the game? What can I do to make it better? Is the story advancing too slowly/quickly? Do I need to introduce more mystery elements? Is it challenging enough?

Thoughts?

I am in but just had work pick up immensely so adjusting a bit this week.
Really enjoying it personally. No suggestions but open to whatever.
Thank you

I am here. Can't comment on the pace since I'm not sure how long the story is intended to be. It seems like there's still a ton to explore

~TAF

Ok cool. Sounds good. And yeah, I built it with 4 bosses and a final boss (5 scenarios essentially). I don't think I'll have you guys fight all 4, at least not as a full scenarios. The goal is to wrap things up by summer/mid summer depending how long play takes, but I also don't want to make it feel rushed (by rushing it).
